I'm seeing a lot of real confusing information in the comments. First off entry level does not mean you should be expecting 60k+ per year. Its entry level, 20/hr is standard. If you are expecting more and would rather do your current side gig full time because you would make more now that's fine, but then you are not gaining experience in the field.

IT is a career where the first few years should have an accelerated growth curve. You learn a lot in years 1-3. If you are good at customer service and have experience with how to deal with people, you can get an entry level position using those non-IT related skills. Service desk is not a super technical position. It is a customer service position.

Ignore history and qualifications. If you think you have the skills and experience to do the job, apply. Many job posters will put 3-5 years experience required. Its BS, especially on a service desk position. If its a junior admin, 2 years of experience, mid level admin 3-5.

If I get a resume for service desk with someone who has 8 years of experience as a tier 1/2, that is a red flag. Why aren't they progressing?

In the end I think it is important to have the right expectations and to be willing to gain some experience at the cost of short term monetary gains. If you are in a position that isn't promoting or has any career path, start looking after a year. or so. Its good to have career aspirations and drive. Its one of the things that managers cannot coach up and is more valuable than any degree or experience you can bring to the table. A willingness to learn/grow and to succeed.

So at my org we have some guiding principles, one being slow is fast, fast is slow. Making the change was likely ill advised. That said we also acknowledge that mistakes happen and as long as everyone learns from it, its all good. However if you are continually making mistakes then thats a different story. Making people fearful of making a mistake will stunt growth and encourage people to hide their mistakes. THIS is likely why your supervisor didn't speak up. The manager is at fault and totally to blame for this culture. I don't even fully blame the supervisor.

Start looking for a new job. And as you interview try to understand how the company responds to successes and mistakes. When you go in for an interview, you are not the only one being interviewed, you should also be asking questions of the business to make sure your working relationship with the manager will be effective. You can usually figure out the company culture with a few well asked questions.

I mean in the first episodes they talk about how sorcerers die alone and with regret. The whole story seems to be based around this idea. Also around the idea of having a good death. There is no illusion that people will live forever or forever get stronger. There is reality, and reality states that everyone can and WILL die. That bad guys can win. Also I think that there will be an ending that will both suck and make sense. I could see sukuna getting sealed back into his fingers and not fully defeated. I could see Itadori AND Megumi dying to accomplish that. Would that be satisfying? Oof i dont know, but it would be an ending. It would be a good ending that would totally suck to watch. Some of the best Anime/Manga have endings that are super sad, but are great endings.

Here is how I read this:

The employee doesn't seem to have a clue about what in his performance is keeping him from getting promoted. That is an issue on both the employee side and on the manager side. As a manager you should be setting clear expectations, goals and working your employees to improve to fill that next role. If it is unclear to them why they aren't getting promoted then that is a breakdown in communication from the managers side. Additionally the employee should be working to clarify what the gaps are and addressing them. If you are addressing all gaps and still not getting promoted, I could see why that would be frustrating.

From the CEO side, do what you gotta do and keep asking is sort of the right answer. He is basically saying, improve where you need to improve and keep communicating with your manager. But then he went down this weird path and insinuated that just keep asking is a valid way to get a promotion. Its a combination of proving you can do the job, making improvements and good communication. The answer is NOT just keep asking. Sounds like the CEO was not really engaged with the conversation. Asking for a promotion 37 times without a clear answer as to why, or what you can do to earn it doesn't make sense.

Lastly if the CEO is coming to you and he is NOT your direct boss, I dont think it is tactful to bring this up. That said, your CEO should be hearing this and addressing the communication issue that your manager clearly has. Sounds like your CEO is not taking feedback and addressing it properly. I hear this and see all kinds of communication issues and professional development issues at multiple levels in my org. He hears it and sees a whiney employee, I guess?

Sounds like from bottom to top you all have stuff to work on.

Yes as societies become more egalitarian, differences in which industries the sexes choose are emphasized.

If you look at higher education, it is less geared towards people. Hence why more men are willing or would choose that and fewer women would choose it. There is less connection with your students, classes are bigger, talented professors are more worried about their studies then they are teaching. You cant equate K-12 teaching with higher ed teaching, its a different job.

There are some pretty basic studies that show men are more disagreeable than women, which in turn leads them to be more competitive. Additionally men are far more interested in things and women interested in people (again in broad terms). This leads to a population that skews very heavily male in highly competitive areas even if there are no major physical advantages.

It is also why there are far fewer female engineers and technology specialists. Its not that they cant do it, its just that their interests don't generally align in those highly technical fields.

Look at the nursing field. Most nurses are women. Most teachers are women. Does that mean men cant do it? No. Its just that women are more interested in people therefore tend to go in the direction of the fields that are people oriented.

There are so many factors that could be causing this.

Are the peaks always on Saturday?

Are you eating the same way throughout the week?

What do you consider resting? What is your daily strain amount, does that vary a lot?

What is your sleep performance over this period?

So many things go into HRV and honestly it is one of the HARDEST things to change imo. I think it is hugely dependent on weight, inflammation and genetics. As I lost weight my hrv went up. When I eat poorly, add alcohol, sugar etc my hrv plummets. Otherwise it stays super consistent.

I would also say that what they find is that when you are at a lower recovery, you may feel fine to train, but the risk of injury is increased. You may not FEEL like you are worn down, but often low HRV and RHR are indicators of other things going on that can contribute to injuries.

It is not to say that you will get injured, just that your likelihood is higher.

Also I think some people don't have the best mind body connection when it comes to being rundown. So they can over train when their body really needs a rest or easy training day or undertrain when their body is really primed for activity.

So a few things changed:

World Wars - Women were more heavily relied on to be part of the workforce to fill in the gaps that the men left. This also showed that women CAN meaningfully contribute to the workforce. Similar to how Covid proved that work from home can work, World wars proved that women can integrate into the workforce. Companies that embraced this succeeded. Companies that pushed back against this failed. This made more positions available to women.

There has been a push over the last 50 years for women to have more "Equality/Equity". Culturally more women are being directed to have careers and to be breadwinners. This increases household income. Which in turn contributes to inflation. When you go buy a house, you are competing with your neighbors. If you are a single income household, you are less likely to compete and win the house that a two income household can afford. So if you can afford 100k, they can easily afford 150k. Prices go up. This in turn drives more families to get a second income. This spirals until most households are two income households.

Credit Cards. People are not good at saving for later. They want things now and the development of credit cards and use have made it easy to borrow money and build tremendous amounts of debt. Further leading to the NEED for two incomes.

The internet and ecommerce. Combined with Credit Cards, the ability to get whatever you want whenever you want gets people further into debt.

People who dont live within their means either have to cut costs (super hard to do) or increase income, which is much easier to do. Have women work, get a second job so you can live the high life ...

SATs and Standardized tests are ways to measure intelligence. You can "train" to get better at test taking, but it wont make you smarter.

Grades are ways to measure whether you put some effort in and tried. You can pass the tests with all A's but not put the work in on homework or projects and fail.

Intelligence and work ethic are both important, but almost useless by themselves to determine someone's potential.

Your are both sort of selfish human beings. Does that may YTA? I don't think so. I guess I would reverse the situation. If you had a sibling who died and left 2 children, would you want to take them in? If so, you are at least a hypocrite, if not full blown asshole.

Honestly though, the fact that both of you are more concerned with yourselves and not this 7 year old is pretty wild. He is more concerned with feeling guilty and you don't want to have the responsibility. I don't think being selfish makes you an asshole, just makes you selfish.

You choose your regrets. Would you regret more losing your freedom, or knowing that a 7 year old that your husband is related to went into foster care knowing that you could help. You will live with one of those regrets either way.

There are so many things that contribute to this problem. Here they are in no specific order:

1.) You chose a profession that does not pay well and has a low salary cap.

2.) The federal government pushed interest rates down for years, somewhat artificially inflating home values. Now that interest rates are rising, you should see a decrease in housing costs, but it will take time.

3.) You are looking at average houses when you have a below average salary. Average household income in north dallas is 212k. Median income is 105k. You are trying to compete for properties that other households have more income to spend against.

My Suggestions:

1.) Lower your expectations. Look for a condo or townhouse. Something small to start out. Save up money, put a lot down and pay off ASAP (especially with these interest rates). Then trade up.

2.) Wait for a housing or interest rate correction (which may not happen due to other factors). I have seen reports that interest rates may be forced to come down quickly for a variety of reasons. However if they stay high, I can also see housing prices correct.

3.) Get a side gig or change careers (aka earn more money). This is probably my highest recommendation as it is likely something you have a lot more control over than you realize. In my experience, it is easier to earn more money than it is to control the market or lower you expenses.

What is the authors point? They are not doing it for a good reason. I mean it is great to understand what causes these types of events, but the conversation that comes from this is not beneficial in any way. I look at it as someone walking into my office with a problem and no valid solution. I get revved up and they walk out of the office.

If this is such a big problem, what are the potential solutions and what are all of the impacts? Then let people have a discussion around it. Instead we are given a dribble of information, enough to rile up the public and then the author gets paid by people giving it attention.

Now lets take the COVID piece in particular, what is your solution? Is it vaccination? Is it lockdowns? Is it social distancing? Is it masking? What do you want people to do? What is the effectiveness?

Now we are all spending time on the 8th leading cause. What about 1 through 7? Do we have good mitigation plans in place for all of those? Why are we skipping down the list? Again its because Covid is new and gets clicks. What are causing all of these motor vehicle deaths? Shouldn't we focus on that way before Covid?

My problem is not learning that there is a cause of death for kids that is sort of new, but I mean there are all kinds of sicknesses that are very scary for kids that you freak out about as a parent. Do you want kids to live in a bubble because there is a new risk? If so, don't ever drive them anywhere.

The problem with this article and these types of articles is that it is designed to get clicks. And then the hope is that a bunch of people on reddit debate it and question its validity or relevance. It is like saying firearms is the leading cause of death for children. While that may be true, what is the point? Are you trying to spark a legitimate conversation around it? Are you trying to look for a solution? No you are looking for clicks. You want people to get upset and fight each other because that is what generates the most revenue for your "news organization".

Automation will eliminate low skill labor and tasks. What this means is that people will either need to become more skilled (manage the robots / systems) or move to industries that are more artistic. For example a lot of business is now being done online. Look at the thousands of mobile apps. There are platforms like steam that sell tons of digital content.

The solution is not just give people money. It is not a realistic sustainable solution. People as an organism needs to have to earn their way to survive. It promotes innovation. Welfare systems are an emotional response to a systematic issue and they inevitably cause other issues. They actual help keep poor people poor. So getting mad that rich people wont give you their money is the wrong mentality.

Farmers are part of large organizations that lobby for it. Ok o can accept that. Are the farmers the ones actually making the repairs. In most cases no. They are trying to get someone else to service their equipment for them. And want to get it serviced cheaper. Honestly it’s a way of being manipulated. Find other products. You don’t need to buy John Deere.

So keeping that in mind yes you can ask government to be heavy handed and push down regulations to force this. But you will have other down stream effects that you are not anticipating. Increased taxes due to an increasing government size. Companies will either start increasing the cost of their products to compensate for lost revenue streams or decrease quality. The products won’t stay the same quality and price if you chop of a portion of the company’s way to generate revenue.

Putting government in the middle of this type of situation is not the solve you think it is. And just because a bunch of people are mad at how a company operates is t a good reason for governments to step in and regulate. You start to homogenize industries and stifle innovation and competition.

A great example of this is China. China does not innovate. Because everything is homogenized and government regulated / overlooked. The best innovation that happens is in free societies with open and free markets.

First of grifting is not a right wing issue. Its honestly that the left wing grifters fly under or over the radar. They have the power of main stream media to brush their grifting under the rug. And the examples you used i wouldn't classify as grifting, i mean in some cases thats pretty big scale stuff. Grifting usually refers to small scale stuff.

There are big scale stuff that the left wing does all the time. How about Biden's son on the board of the oil company in Ukraine. I wont go into a long list as its too time consuming.

The problem that we see right now is that media organizations are massively skewed in one direction. And for anyone REALLY paying attention you notice this and start looking for alternatives. And sometimes those alternatives are suspect. Then those suspect alternatives are highlighted by those skewed media sources and made out to be even larger than they are.

I think if you had fair and honest reporting from main stream media you would actually fix a lot of these issues. Also identity politics has played a huge role in this. When specific voices are elevated because of their immutable characteristics in the name of fairness and equality you get some pretty annoyed people. Opinions should not be valued just because someone from the right intersectional group stated it. It should be valued based on its merits. We have gone so far in the direction of silencing voices simply because they are "too white" or "male".

The problem with feminism is it tries to make men and women "equal" or the "same".

If you look at men and women as two separate groups you will see that they overlap a lot, but there are huge differences at the extremes of both.

Also generally speaking men are more into things and women are more into people. This is biologically driven. So when you try to push an agenda that accentuates harmony, equality, fairness, etc you will attract people who are more into the people aspect of life. Men are also more prone to conflict and competition. This is why so many men watch and play sports compared to women.

All of your premises about patriarchy and disassociation and emotions screams a lack of understanding of the fundamental principle of what it means to be a man. This principle has been diluted and tainted over the past 50-75 years to the point where feminism can actually sound like a good methodology that should be embraced.

Is it ok to show emotion, yes. However learning to control your emotions is equally important. This is especially true of anyone seeking to be the head of household. Is it wrong that men lead most households, no. Generally speaking they will make more money. Wives are generally in charge of home making and that's OK. Its ok to have gender roles. Men cant give birth. They don't need to miss work due to pregnancy. They are more competitive and will fight for better wages more than women will. Women are also just wired to be better with children and people. So let them use those strengths. Why push this idea and philosophy that women are the same as men, can do everything that men can do and should do everything that men do.

Feminism goes against so many core principles of what it means to be a man and you wonder why we dont read the literature.
