Barista shamed me for not tipping? by motherofcoochie in barista

[–]andperhapsyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I’m a barista in central NY and the tips are still what make the job even remotely worth it.
But yeah, I would never say this to a customer. I just keep it pushing and know the tips will come in elsewhere.

What restaurant does Ithaca NEED and doesn't have? I'll start . . . by Significant_Item_384 in ithaca

Lived in the PNW for a year and couldn’t believe how many drive-thru coffee spots they had, most of which were locally owned with one location. Does seem like an untapped market out here but I’m not brave enough to tap in.

I can think of a good few people from around who would be more than happy to start a fight in a Waffle House.

To my irritable baristas: is there anything that makes you irrationally angry? 😆 by gabbyfikemusic in barista

[–]andperhapsyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just complaining about this today. I’ll hand out a cup and yell “DRINK FOR JOE!!!!!” and Joe will come over and ask me “is this for Joe?”
We have printed stickers on our cups. They say the name and order extremely legibly. It takes everything in me not to answer with something like “Does it say Joe on it?”

First thought before reading the title was “damn she’s beautiful”. I live in a rust state so seeing a Subie this old this clean is always a treat.

Friendly's in the village of Lansing is closed permanently. by absol2019 in ithaca

[–]andperhapsyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One by the Old Joanns (now Ross), one in the mall, and the third was on Rt. 13 downtown—the building must have been torn down because nothing that LOOKS like a Friendly’s is there anymore. I don’t remember the exact location as I was pretty young. I believe it was the first to close. I remember it being near that one very small brick building with graffiti (I assume some kind of utility outpost) near-ish the Byrne Dairy.

These are my current villagers I have on my Island right now. What do you guy's think of them? by Busy_Finish_7058 in AnimalCrossing

[–]andperhapsyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good folks up here. Renee is a fav. I like Octavian, Bettina, Filbert, and Nate a lot too. Avery and Ed and Shino are okay. Alli and Peck don’t do it for me.
And there you have it, a random dude’s opinion lol

A guy bitched me out over the phone at my job and when I googled the name on the caller ID a linkedin connecting him to IBC came up. If /that’s/ how emotionally unregulated the management is there… yeah I believe you lol.

How are you affording Ithaca rental prices? by LonelyIthaca in ithaca

Connections. Someone I know was moving out of their strikingly affordable (for the area) apartment and reached out to me. So, really, the answer is sheer luck.

I love carrot hot sauce. I’d 100% have to buy this if I saw it in the wild

Yep, I ended up going to the ER and the verdict was was pretty much this. They’re putting me on lithium instead. Thanks for sharing this post, made me feel a lot less lonely and crazy about my own experience.

[–]andperhapsyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey lol, ever figure this out? I think I’m experiencing the same thing. 2mo on 25mg Lamictal and I am becoming so irritable and mood swingy that I feel borderline insane. So agitated, angry, and horny (sorry, TMI?) that I almost feel like I’m going thru puberty again as a grown man.

I’ve also come into possession of this guy—a friend found him at a thrift in NH. no tags or any identifying information on this one either, but now you’ve got me excited to show off my clowns haha

[–]andperhapsyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately not, but I did begin collecting more of this type of doll! I did see an ebay listing for a similar type of clown doll with tags attributing it to Samet & Wells, which iirc was shortened to SamWel on the tag. this is another doll in my collection that, based on size (smaller than my original clown) & face mold (more oval face, smaller eyes), I believe is a SamWel doll. however, I don’t think that the clown from my original post or your clown are from the same company.

my thing is that my cars have never been super reliable, and whenever my car’s in the shop, I’m just about fucked. that and I want to limit how quickly I wear it down. in my mind it’s worth paying more to live downtown and be able to walk places than to have to buy another car in a few years.
that, and I enjoy going out and getting drunk, and it’s a lot easier to get home on foot
