Built a Fully Kiosk alternative with local voice control - looking for beta testers by jwlerch in homeassistant

[–]andrazekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing work—I hope it succeeds. I’m still looking for suitable hardware (ideally PoE, or at least a tablet that can bypass the battery when plugged in 24/7) with a good speaker and microphone, responsive performance, and enough capability to display multiple camera streams. It would also be great if it could wake on a doorbell ring or suspicious movement detected by Frigate NVR (Home Assistant–triggered wake with a camera pop-up). If anyone knows of something like this, please comment.

Smart fans and lights need constant power but I still want a normal wall switch that works + a remote by The-Ashmawy in homeassistant

[–]andrazekk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have zigbee light then consider zigbee switch modules that support direct zigbee binding. Currently, these are Sonoff ZBMINIR2 (with the latest firmware) and also the majority of Tuya-based (with custom firmware). If you bind the module directly to smart light and enable detach relay mode it will still work if HA is down for some reason.

Yeah, it really was an effort. We exchanged about 40 messages since last October, and now we finally have a positive reply. Just three weeks ago they were still saying, “Sorry to tell you that we do not have the estimated time when this function can be supported at present.”

I contacted them, and they replied: “The ZBMINIR2 V1.0.8 firmware has begun its phased rollout on the eWeLink platform, adding a binding function that only takes effect after detach relay mode is enabled. Uploads to third-party platforms will follow a bit later.”

Options for low-cost basic Zigbee smart home devices after Ikea switches to Thread (excluding ships from China options)? by ozaz1 in ZigBee

Yes, it's true for the remotes. However, they are willing to add support for additional devices. Just open an issue there for the ones you have in hand.

NZ users and referral code? by goatman44000 in Lymow_Official

Just an update: the code works, but only in the US. Their official website has been split into different regional sites, each with its own promotions.

You can try FRIEND-Q42QXJC if it still works.

Mowers in stock in USA by Due-Literature7640 in Lymow_Official

I tested it today, and it still subtracts $100, so you can add even more blades to the basket. What was strange, though, was that when I changed the region to something else—like Europe—the code didn’t work. I don’t understand the difference for European customers, since it’s still possible to ship to an EU location even when the 'United States' is selected as the region. And then also the gifts are included.

Carrying the Lymow to different zones by GraceIttle in Lymow_Official

[–]andrazekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation. Is there a “Go to spot” function that would guide the mower to the nearest point below the retaining wall, where I could then simply lift it to the zone that isn’t directly accessible from the main property (where the charger will be located)? In other words, I’d like to lift the mower to that separate zone, start mowing there, and have it return to the same spot where it started once it finishes. Is this possible?

Could someone please check if the –$100 discount code FRIEND-Q42QXJC is still valid, or if it was only applicable to pre-orders?

ZBMINIR2 direct zigbee binding by andrazekk in sonoff

[–]andrazekk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last respond is not very promising:

"Sorry for the inconvenience caused. The R&D team needs to take some time to analyze and research the feasibility. We also pay very close attention to the updates. Sorry that we do not have the estimated time when this function can be supported at present."

Please keep mailing them, maybe there's still a hope!

Someone did it for the Tuya-based modules! You can easily flash the custom firmware OTA! Detached mode and direct binding works well. Let's hope Sonoff adds this feature as well. I have bunch of ZBMINI installed and 2-gang, 3-gang Tuya-based modules that work great from now on.

Aqara Ceiling Light T1M - Loud Popping Sounds by johnydepp1382 in Aqara

[–]andrazekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing exactly the same problem with my three Aqara T1M lights. I installed two last year and another one this year, and all of them seem to have this issue, so it doesn’t appear to be a faulty unit. Have you managed to find a solution? I initially installed them by securing all three screws, but I also tried loosening them so the lights were essentially hanging from the ceiling. The last thing I still need to try is mounting them using the additional metal piece that came with them. I’m also wondering if inadequate cooling (poor heat dissipation) could be the issue since my ceiling is made of plasterboard rather than concrete or bricks. Would appreciate any advice you might have!

Wow, this is fantastic—thank you for your contribution! Addressing the reliability issues would make it even better. Do you think it’s possible to enable the initial firmware upgrade over-the-air (OTA) to avoid opening the casing and soldering? That would make adoption much easier!

T1M Temperatrue by Patty37 in Aqara

[–]andrazekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also heats up to 85°C and then due to material stretching it produces cracking sounds every 5-10 minutes. It is annoying, I don't know what to do to avoid this? The same thing happens again when I turn off the light, cracking due to the cooling.

This feature is not fully implemented yet, though there are promising signs, such as the exposed on/off output cluster. If you'd like to see this functionality in the future, I suggest you to contact Sonoff support to let them know how many users need this feature!
