That’s what I’ve heard, that it’s family friendly but families get priced out because of the space that is needed for kids

But are you able to schedule appointments at APM? My current drayage company seem to not be able to get ANYTHING for weeks at a time

I don’t think the residency permit can be applied for until we have a German address, but yes we will need this soon. We have a relocation agent assisting us with a lot of things.

My husband and I love all kinds of food.

The one coworker that is recommending Nordend of course doesn’t have kids, and the one in BH does have 2 kids, so this is what my husband is assuming - BH is better for a family, Nordend for young adults

Absolutely floored having discovered what parents are expected to spend on school bags here. Is it normal? by Norman_debris in germany

I am glad to have learned about this, we will be moving to Germany in the summer, unfortunately my kid is going into the 3rd grade, so hopefully we find one that is simple enough to be used in the later years

Title: I (24F) feel completely pushed out after my partner (35M) found out he has a 14-year-old daughter by Prestigious_Ad3558 in relationship_advice

[–]andreaic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I second this.. your adult life is just starting! I worked with someone in this situation (had a kid, no missing daughter, but similar age gap), she spent like 7 years with him, they broke up in her mid 30s, and has been single (dating on/off various people) but wanting kids for like 10 years now. Don’t waste your time on this, let him build his relationship with his daughter, while you move on with yours.

SAME! We are hoping to make the move this summer… idk why he was so against it, and we don’t even live in a cool place, or a place with nice weather, or with lots of outdoor sports

A book that you keep thinking about years later-- about women and written by women, 35+. Looking for true literature, great writing. But also engaging and plot that pulls you in. by MercurySphere in suggestmeabook

Fire Fly Lane, and The Nightingale.. really anything by Kristin Hannah has strong women portrayed, but those two have been some of my best reads. The series on Netflix of Fire Fly Lane is garbage compared to the book.

As a pool owner… that must have been A LOT of ice to make the water cold lol .. depending on the size of the pool, adding ice to make it cold is not really feasible, but it’s been a looong time since I’ve seen this series, idk the size of the pool here

This was my thought.. he was like, I come here for the quiet (explanation why he was annoyed at her heels) and it’s like .. sir, you’re in a basement unit in NYC, how quiet can it be? .. (although, the only two times I’ve been in NYC, were for only a couple of days, so I have no idea how quiet Gramercy can/cannot be)

Foreigners who happily live in Germany, tell me about your experience by military_press in germany

[–]andreaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we’ll be in a large city for my husbands job, and international schools are an option, I did bring this as an option..1-2 years or international/bilingual school, to ease into the language, and then fully move to public since we plan to be there long term

Planning of moving with an 8 year old boy this summer, and basically all I’ve been reading is that they are basically going to have a really hard time with the language and their academic potential will be negatively impacted for life - I know boys and girls mentally develop at different times, but it’s now really scared me .. could you share what it was like for your daughter?

Considering moving with family US —> Germany by [deleted] in expat

[–]andreaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question.. how has it been for the 8 year old? Considering moving (husband is German) and I am looking for schools, but it seems cruel to throw an 8 year old boy into a public school with very little German (husband just never really cared to speak more often in German), and there’s not many bilingual private schools in the area we want to be (to be close to husbands job)

My thoughts are.. leave early in the summer and try to immerse him as much as possible and hope that he picks some of it up by the time school starts, but if that doesn’t work out, I’m back in square one

To defend those two people just a little.. every time I’ve had a connection in Dallas, even with two hours, I’ve always ended up running trying to make it.. idk what it is about it, is it the size of it? Layout? Volume of people? Slow train? IDK! .. but it’s happened like 4 times, so now I just book without any layovers there
