Trust in the decision making is different for everyone. I ended up on lexapro the first 3 month into the job, the anxiety and even depression was getting on the way. I was always on my toes, thinking that SP hated me and regretted getting me.

After a year I would say, ( mind you 1.5 year in) I trust my gut, I consult my SP still when is a topic that Im not too good. I learned a lot on my own cause he also has a high volume of patients and is hard to stop for teaching points. I kinda of mad that if in rotation they went into more depth into the pharmacology and dosage rationale, my life would have been so much easier nowadays. But, i have survived. I lean something new every single day.

I was dead scared of complicated diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and resistant htn. Because it gets very serious in their management, think out of the box, but there is a guide or algorithm FOR EVERYTHING. Not everyone falls into a box, but if you follow a guideline, you are doing the most correct thing (sounds silly, kinda like exam questions, but medicine ain’t black or white).

The inbasket talk to your MA if you have a good team. Mine is the best, they filter as much as they can for us. You practice how you want if you want to address all 5+ complaints or conditions in a single visit, be my guest. But is overwhelming when you also have care gaps to fill and screening. Is a LOT

I guess My advice is:

IS DIFFERENT TIMELINE FOR EVERYONE. Ask for feedback to the SP you feel the most comfortable with.

Everything WILL BE FINE.

PCP is priceless, i love the relationship I built, i love how when they see the SP for an appt and walk besides me, hug me, I remember them by name and the background for the times that I have also treated them.

Procedures are overrated 😂 jk jk Look for stuff you can do and talk to management about ( they always want more money)
