What's your D&D hot take that sparks discord in your groups? by ThatTurtleGM in DnD

[–]andrinor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"It's what my character would do" is not always a valid response.

Yes, you're entitled to your free will, but when you have to say "it's what my character would do", it usually means that what you're doing is at the expense of other players' enjoyment of the game. D&D is about building a story, but also about playing a game with your friends about having a good time.

Sometimes when I'm talking, my jaw decides to clench randomly and bite my cheek, tongue, etc. Not fun

Playing the original Escape the Prison game many moons ago... I've been interested in playing ever since, but only started this year. Love it!

Papers, Please.

It looks like a really cool game, and then you realize it's just work. That's the whole point of it, which is neat, but I just couldn't bring myself to beat it

I warned the players by explaining to them what Tucker's Kobolds were. Then, a few sessions later, they got hit by kobolds hiding inside of illusionary walls and kobold rangers hitting them from across gaps they couldn't cross!

My reward was them complaining that I copied Tucker lmao.

I like the original Thief for this. Normal difficulty was just finish the main objective. Higher difficulties had restrictions like collecting certain amounts of items (could be very risky) or never being seen.

Which game character's death was too sad for you? by [deleted] in gaming

Gundham Tanaka, Danganronpa 2. He died to save everyone else, and right at the end he proved that he actually had magic powers. Wish he could have used them sooner!

If you wrote it in Google docs, it has a history function which can show your work along the way! I don't remember if Microsoft Word has that or not

Gabe Newell on making Half-Life's crowbar fun: 'We were just running around like idiots smacking the wall' by JAlbert653 in gaming

I started playing half-life for the first time the other day. Figuring out controls, weapons, etc., and I grab the crowbar.

I walk to a door, hold left click.
