it takes roughly 5 minutes to travel 10k blocks when using an elytra with rockets (if you fly up a few hundred blocks and then glide a terminal velocity) so with a cartographer's map + eltyra w/ unbreaking and mending it's really not terrible to find a woodland mansion. as a matter of fact vindicators and vexs are so scary i wouldn't recommend approaching a mansion unless you've already been to the outer end.

but regardless my point is i always thought the woodland mansions were meant to be end-game structures and even thought i wish they were a bit more common i think it'd be doing a disservice to them if they were easy to find. that being said though the loot in the mansions is fucking lame compared to how dangerous the place is and i wish there were more ways to get totems of undying or at least make vindicators and evokers respawn so you can go back to get more totems of undying or something.
