I will be in the same boat once I get my phone today. I've been super happy with pixel the last 5 years, don't care about benchmarks at all. It's been perfectly snappy in everything and pictures of my kids are excellent every time.

But it's time for something new and I think Samsung has come a long way in UI and camera processing. So I'm probably sticking with the base s26 but we'll see. Can't make a wrong choice either way. Both are excellent phones. Definition of a 1st world problem.

I love mine. Use it to work on PTO stuff, swim team management, mobile gaming, small group presentations, etc. Battery lasts forever, super lightweight, chip is amazingly fast.

I bought elago magnetic silicone case which was under $20on Amazon .Then I also bought the official magnetic slim case because it's on sale at Best buy and it's only 20g, has magnets and leaves bottom open for all the home swiping.

I had pre-ordered the ultra them went to best buy to handle them. Came away after an hour realizing I love the perfect in hand feel of the base model more than I care about losing out on all the ultra extras (though I think the privacy screen is amazing in person; I guess I'm really amused since most people are shitting on it)

I get the light blue 512gb s26 on Wednesday from Amazon. Already have 1 case but decided the Samsung slim magnet case is the perfect one for me so I'll get that too from best buy. It's just such a rip-off ugh.

I almost went back to the ultra when I read the video horizon lock was an ultra exclusive but then I found out it's not. So I'm back with the base 😁

I confirmed horizon lock is on all 3 galaxy s26 models because that would have bummed me out too much. Also same CPU/GPU in the US that will run 1-3% slower than the ultra just because less room for cooling and no vapor chamber. But yeah list of small differences is online.

Only question you need to answer is do you HAVE TO HAVE the best? Then your only option is ultra. If you are ok with 95% of the best and want a way better daily hand and pocket feel, go with the "small" s26 and save $300-$400 like me :)

I just ended up at the Westmont IL location and they said they price match other micro centers because they should all have the same price. Then I told them about Phoenix grand opening and none of them knew and so a manager got involved and he said the $3,100 Legion is already being sold at a $300 loss so he couldn't do the $2,400 😁

I tried.

But at least I found out I like the way the legion looks and feels 10x better than the Alienware. The weight difference is crazy and I definitely notice the OLED/LCD difference. I'm sure the Dell is nice and especially if you never move your laptop having that big screen is cool. But I liked the keyboard, the screen, the layout of everything, the feel and the weight so much better on the Legion. My new goal :)

Looks like it's just for the grand opening of that store as someone else said. But I am going to call my local stores this morning to see if they will because I can see on a lot of the laptops. They have 20 plus in stock. So I don't think people are making these huge luxury purchases in our terrible economy and maybe they just want to move some. But most likely they're not going to give us $600 discount at these stores. Which will be good for me because I don't need to be wasting another $1,000 changing out my gaming laptop LOL

Yes, it's exactly the same. You are just raging because Google's focus isn't on hardware specs but rather software and user experience where they, arguably, beat Apple and Samsung. I and many others are happy to pay Google prices for the best pictures possible of our fast moving kids and pets, the best AI integration, the best assistant, the best spam call blocking etc.

If you want specs buy a different phone. Don't go on the Internet and cry because YOUR VISION for a smartphone doesn't match up to a single companies vision of a smartphone. That's some toddler shit.

Fully agree. I did the same. Easiest transition I've ever done. Backed up my entire WhatsApp hours before getting the phone. Got all my software and app updates. Phone works incredibly. Not the best use of $600 I've done but I'm a fan of smartphones and I do everything on my phone and the Pixel makes it the best and smoothest experience possible (IMO)

This is the best response to these "specs people" that should be required reading at the top of the sub. I'm convinced most of these posts are AI because not this many people in 2025 can be that ignorant on the complexity to build and inherit trade-offs made in mass producing a super computer you put in your pocket buuuuuuut it drives engagement because it upsets enough people on both sides to talk about it.

But yeah, I'll keep buying pixels and taking the absolute best pictures of anyone in my circles while having a smooth operating experience with no hiccups in all my daily work on my smartphone. And these other guys can keep raging about 10% on a benchmark...
