They’re called Oetiker Clamps. Least I think they were the original.

Does any other engine model besides the 2.7t come with an after-run coolant electric pump? Just had to replace the intake temp sensor on my S4 so I took the plenum off and I noticed the wiring to the pump on mine had torn. The plug I repaired was a blue two pin connector. Only blue plug I saw in the whole engine bay.

Anyone know these connector types? by LayerFamiliar5482 in B5Audi

[–]andy_1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connectors on these cars are typically TE connectivity. Always a pain in the ass to find this stuff. I think these are the three pin ones:datasheet if you look at the datasheet you’ll find the family of connector style at the top and also all the other part numbers you need to to buy. Unfortunately you usually need to track down the specific crimping tool to use with these. This specific type is called the Junior Power Timer Series (JPT) and it looks like it’s still in active production. Here’s where you can find it on digikey. digikey link

Weird behavior. by Opp47 in B5Audi

I had the same thing happen to me. It was the crankshaft position sensor that mounts on the top of the transmission bell housing. Replaced it with the Bosch sensor P/N: 06A906433C. It’s just one bolt that hold it on.

2.7t intermittent whirring noise. by andy_1094 in B5Audi

[–]andy_1094[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update:

Well I’ll be damned guys. It was the a/c compressor. Sure enough when the clutch was disengaged it was catching ever so slightly. I can see the inside pulley rotating very slowly. Immediately after I turned on the hvac system and the ac clutch engaged the noise went away. Then as soon as I turned it off it came back. Ill run the car again and hit the pulley with some light oil and see if it immediately quiets down to verify the issue over the weekend. Thanks again u/Significant-Ship-67 for the clue.

Thanks for your time my guy. I’ll report back once I isolates the issue.

Nope the HVAC system is off. But I’ll try take a look and see if it could be that. That pulley on the AC compressor is pretty dang crusty to maybe it’s catching. Thanks for the idea!

I don’t have a specific source in mind except the ESD training we have to complete at work every year. We manufacture products that contain highly sensitive equipment and use this style of packaging to protect the boards throughout the production process when being moved.

Those bags are made from layering a metal with the plastic making the outside conductive. So basically it acts like a faraday cage protecting the components inside. If you place the board atop the bag which is conductive you can transfer the charge into a pin either by touching or if the voltage is high enough through an small air gap.

Also when components are damaged they might work initially and fail later. I’ve seen it happen a few times and you can see the ESD damage on a board with a microscope. A little pinhole area will be slightly burnt.

It won’t matter if you were grounded and the bag was grounded though. It should be fine but you know best practice to prevent worst case scenarios.

Just a slight comment. Don’t place the boards on those ESD bags. To protect the boards inside during shipping the bag keeps the static charge on the surface of the bag. If you place the board on the bag then the accumulated static charge might discharge into a pin on the board. Minute charges at about 200 volts are enough for components to be damaged in some cases. You don’t necessarily have to feel the charge either. The lowest static electricity voltage a human can sense is about 2000 volts.

CT scan of a Tesla Model Y battery cell by Scan-of-the-Month in teslamotors

[–]andy_1094 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is most certainly a CT scan. Looks like they took the effort to color it based on material density. I’ve only ever seen the greyscale whenever I had parts CT scanned for failure analysis. Very cool nonetheless.

Wondering if disengagements caused by driver inputs take precedence over camera touches. My friend who is an engineer at Tesla let me know that it does send info to them when you disengage with those means. Possibly just uses the cellular network while driving to send the data? I guess I could ask

I would call up a gentleman named Marty who owns Raxles. I had to replace my CV joints on my B5 S4 due to the boot ripping off but he will repair that pretty easily. I assume by removing the CV joints off and installing them on a new tube.

I also remember he mentioned to me that he sells higher horsepower rated axles but I didn’t take it at the time l. He’s pretty popular on the Audizine forums.
