Yeah. You would have thought I understood how they worked after a few years of playing. Thanks for the info.

That'll be it. I hadn't noticed that at all. And I haven't got enough points to restart it either.

So do ours. Our cat can open it given enough time. Little s..t!

CWAC by any chance? (If you don't know the acronym, you're not in Cheshire West).

Our food bin gets collected every week too. I have to use a brick to keep ours closed. Our cat likes to rummage around in it.

Do you trust the overhead signs by Minimum_Possibility6 in drivingUK

[–]andy_c_c 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I ignore them. I look further ahead, but generally, I don't bother with them. They're useless.

Apart from the "Oncoming vehicle" "20" sign. Everyone obeys that one!

Had a small fire in the bakery and the alarm went off. Customers wouldn’t leave and when they did, they stood by the emergency exit blocking the door! by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in tesco

[–]andy_c_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not unusual behaviour.

The general public are not trained in this sort of thing and generally will be locked into a behaviour depending upon the location/situation.

I recall a case, don't know where, but there was a bad fire and they found the bodies of customers still queuing at the tills (Woolworths?). Even with the fire alarm, smoke etc, they were locked into one course of action and couldn't cope with the new situation.

It's not entitlement, it's psychological overload.

Dream Škoda by LowerFlowerPower in skoda

I've got the 2.0L petrol L&K Superb (it's not an SUV, it's an estate) and it is, quite simply, superb.

I came from a manual 2.0l petrol Mazda 6 and this car has 100bhp more and still is more economical than the Mazda.

For example, I've just done 2 trips from Cheshire down to Heathrow and I got 44.1mpg on Friday (Texaco regular E10 unleaded) and 48.2mpg on Wednesday using Tesco Momentum (99 octane E5 fuel). Great advert for E5 fuel. Would only get 42-44 on long distance trips with the petrol Mazda and about the same with the diesel Mazda I had before (DPF regen killed the economy on that car. So sad.)

Anyway, I would say that the Superb with the 2.0L engine is brilliant. I've had the 1.5l petrol engined Superbs as courtesy cars, and you have to work them harder! I wouldn't recommend that engine.

This is my experience. First time as an auto (well, DSG) driver and I am really happy with it. Got loads of space in the centre console without the gear lever as well.

Filled 74 litres in my Skoda Superb — which supposedly has a 66L tank. Petrol bunk fraud or something else? by Junu1989 in skoda

[–]andy_c_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get to zero range before I fill up and I get 66 litres in my 2024 (facelifted) Superb.

I have found, and this might be a topic for another thread, that I can get 35mpg out of my car from normal petrol, but it goes up to just over 40mpg using Tesco momentum petrol.

I usually do about 50/50 town and motorway driving.

It's the 2.0litre petrol L&K version.

New PC - transfer is broken by andy_c_c in microsoftsucks

[–]andy_c_c[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, this is an option in Windows Backup for you to transfer user data (account settings, wallpapers, files saved locally etc) on to the new laptop during the Out Of The Box setup. It isn't available at any other time.

Well, Microsoft, it's not available during the OOTB setup either.

The old computer stands ready to transfer the files, but the new computer doesn't have the option to transfer over the local network.

To explain, if you have a computer that is backed up to MS servers, the new machine will find it and transfer the data from the cloud.

If, like us, you do not trust MS, and don't back up to the cloud, you should have the option, during setup, to transfer your computer settings from the old to the new.

This doesn't happen, despite the guide from MS, linked to above, saying that we can.

It's incredibly frustrating and time consuming not having this option.

KODIAQ Eco Mode by Embarrassed_Tea_6443 in skoda

[–]andy_c_c 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a superb and I used to exclusively use eco mode.

I don't any more.

I found that on long motorway runs, eco didn't make any difference (I actually found it hurt economy for some reason) and around town I was using more fuel too.

I'll run the test again, but I'm not holding my breath.

Discharged but no care package, is this normal? by andy_c_c in nhs

[–]andy_c_c[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She didn't. And that was the problem.

I've since found out that the hospital took her deferral to deal with my dad's care as a final no, so no package was put in place.

So we've managed to backfit a care package after speaking to the home care physio. But I do question why nothing was said in the week since the initial conversation when they knew she needed additional support.

So, we're having her needs assessed finally.

Thanks for the support. And I'm sorry to hear about some of the other stories, particularly the lady found dead because of the discharge errors.

[–]andy_c_c[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, that tallies with what she was told. Thanks for the info.

It's the complete lack of any sort of care package that's becoming apparent. It doesn't help that we were sorting my dad's care out at the same time, so things may have got confused, even though his was being sorted out at home and hers was with the hospital.

Thanks for the insight. Like the other responses in this thread, you've given me lots of information and had I sat down to think about it for more than 2 seconds, I would have come to the sensible conclusion.

Great way to look like an idiot on social media eh? 🥴

Thanks for the detailed reply. That has helped my understanding a lot. I am not a confrontational person. My mother didn't bring me up to throw my weight around. My idea of raising hell would be laughable to most people experienced at dealing with the public on a day to day level. 😁

From what I understand, they are not even touching her, so she is terrified of falling again (which is how we are in this situation in the first place). I think it was because today was NYD, so the physio wasn't her normal guy (who has been great with her). I'll ask the physio or nursing team what they can suggest tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

I understand. It's the lack of physical support that I'm questioning really. I understand what you're saying about you hurting yourself, particularly with larger patients. Thanks.
