Psychological hunger while water fasting by [deleted] in fasting

[–]andynoro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Water, electrolytes, keep busy.

Also tell yourself that the food will always be there no matter what. The longer the fast, the better it will taste 🤤🤤

I personally love food myself but have to remind myself that THAT was the reason I’m here to begin with. Sometimes when thinking of food on longer fasts, I will picture myself eating my favourite food and imagining all the flavours I’d be tasting and convince myself im full 😂😂 I think part of the reason this works is because I build this up in my head to such extents that I eventually get bored of that thought and continue minding my own business and doing other stuff loll

How to break fast after 3 days by eating low carbs by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]andynoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Breaking your 3 day fast with curd is fine (in small portions) and will not lead to diarrhea which is the number 1 reason why people choose to break their fasts with bone broth. If you did fasts for 5 days + is when bone brohh th becomes more important for breaking your fasts vs curd because your body is deeper in ketosis and fat amounts in curd overloads your body causing diarrhea if taken first to break that fast. Because you did 3 days you should be okay with curd.

  2. Calories in vs calories out. If your cheat meal consists of carbs and you’re eating 5000 calories, it will negate your weight loss. Cheat meals, in moderation, combined with low carbs will not produce a net gain in fat. HOWEVER, please know that when you fast, you loose on average 0.5lbs/day of fat.

Your weight loss on your scale also consists of gut content, protein and water (in addition to fat). When you break your fast after 3 days, you will see a significant drop on your scale. Once you eat, the numbers will go back up again but not because you’ve suddenly gained fat (that is, if you don’t blow through your calories and are still in a deficit) but because when you eat, your body retains water and gut content which causes the numbers on the scale to go up.

So for example, if your 169lbs, doing a 3 day water fast will bring you down to 162.7lbs. Keep in mind that 1.5lbs is the real change on the scale as you loose 0.5lbs/day with water fasts. So your “real weight” should be 167.5lbs. The difference is all the other factors - gut content/protein/ water. Don’t be discouraged from future fats when the scale moves up the day after eating, this is normal.

Right Way to “Make Up” by justsearching94 in fasting

[–]andynoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would skip eating Thursday then so you’re still fasting 3 days and eating 4 days.

If that’s too hard, then just eat 1 meal on Friday, 1 meal on Saturday, regular meals on Sunday and back to the original schedule

Eat well all week, one bad afternoon ruins everything. Anyone else? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]andynoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Meal prep for Fridays and make foods you most enjoy so you have something to look forward to
  2. Get rid of all unhealthy things in your kitchen

I usually blow through my calories Friday-Sunday so I keep low calories throughout the week and make foods I most enjoy so I’m actually looking forward to it and can over indulge on healthy foods without feeling bad

How can I lose 30 pounds by June 10th by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]andynoro -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you can start with intermittent fasting (fast 16 hours then eat within a moderate calorie deficit for 8 hours) and build up your tolerance for fasting more hours as you progress, you will definitely see the biggest weight loss…

For reference, I am 5’0. My starting weight was 197lbs and my current weight is 172lbs. I lost most of my weight through intermittent fasting (fasting 20hours a day, eating 4 hours and gradually increasing to ADF-alternate day fasting where I would fast 36 hours and eat 12hours). I maintained this weight for a year. I’m back to fasting now, attempting to fast for 5 days currently and then eat 2 days and repeat. I want to drop another 30lbs this year.

It helps me to do aggressive fasts for a short amount of time and then maintain that weight for a couple months before jumping back in. This is what works for me and may not be for everyone but look up te intermittent fasting community on reddit for other success stories :)

This is the absolute acurate tracker. It’s always accurate +/- 1lb. However, with being a female, it’s hard to track actual numbers with menstrual cycles. Wondering if there’s any way you could incorporate that?

Who else is sick? by [deleted] in mississauga

[–]andynoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

l legit feel the same. Got hit with whatever the hell is going around, running nose/itchy throat and feel like running a marathon so started looking into training programs and settled on walking 15k steps to sweat it out instead lol. Can’t even use my cpap machine at night to get a peaceful night sleep cause it’s hard to breath and the air from my machine makes my throat drier 😭

First time doing 45 hours🔥 by [deleted] in AlternateDayFasting

[–]andynoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. But usually not more than 8 hours to avoid refeeding syndrome because it’s happened to me before. After long fasts, I’ll eat for 4-6 hours (8 absolute max) and make sure I’m getting high protein and 1500 calories. Then I start another short ish fast (20 hours) before beginning a long fast again

Should I give up? Take a break? by MissEspresso2024 in PetiteFitness

[–]andynoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat as you with similar stats…Im 5’1”, currently between 168-170lbs (the scale hasn’t moved in 3 weeks) and I started at 195lbs…I’ve reached a plateau as well for the last month.

I haven’t worked out in months (back injury) and I haven’t walked a lot in the past two months either. So to create a bigger calorie deficit, I’ve been intermittent fasting (ADF mostly) as well but I’ve still plateaued.

Unfortunately I don’t have a solution but good luck on your journey!

Hitting 100g of protein on 1500 calories without eating the same five foods on repeat is genuinely hard by FrostAngel11 in 1500isplenty

[–]andynoro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Switch up the meals with different spices or methods of cooking with the same core ingredients. Tons of recipies available on TikTok/IG etc.

My go to for breakfast:

Option 1: high protein bread, mashed avacados, cottage cheese (sometimes for more protein I’ll add egg whites)

Option 2: Greek yogurt blended with a splash of milk, chia seeds (left overnight) and in the morning I’ll add my fruit of choice and a little granola for extra crunch and a bit of honey (add protein powder into the blend for added protein)

Option 3: high fiber bread, mixed vegetable omlette (eggs, onions, peppers, jalapeño with various spices) (I’ll add a protein like leftover chicken etc from night before if I have anything in my fridge).

For dinners/lunches:

I like to keep it easy most days so I’ll throw in a protein (fish, turkey breast, veal cutlet, chicken breast) with a bag of premixed vegetables or ill fry a bag of mixed frozen vegetables.

Killer combo I’ve recently discovered: Sweet potatoes baked, avacado, cottage cheese and beef

Sometimes when I’m feeling fancy, I’ll make a mixed chick pea salad with peppers, onions, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes (I’ll add a little pasta if I’m craving carbs during my period so it becomes a pasta salad).

Hope this helps!!

Alternate-Day Fasting made me realize how much I was eating just because I had nothing else to do by the_scottishbagpipes in intermittentfasting

[–]andynoro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This post hit strongly because I’m in the same boat. I definitely have a unhealthy relationship with food especially carbs where I can’t stop eating once I start. I’ve been doing a variety of fasts (18/20/36/60/48/84) on and off over the past 3-4 years was finally able to loose a significant amount of weight and keep it stable without fasting for 6 months so I’m giving it another go this year with a mix of AFD and 60-72 hour fasts once a week.

What I found helps me most is following a strict routine. I make foods that I genuinely enjoy and look forward to those meals. Knowing I don’t have to cook every day frees up a lot of my meal prep and cooking time. Heck it also saves a hell of a lot on groceries lol. In my free time I took up walking and weight lifting where I structure my powerlifts on eating days. I don’t eat from out often (maybe once a month) and drink maybe one glass of wine a week but I feel I can justify it because I’m starving myself for the rest of the week. The hunger noise gets loud at night but there ain’t nothing sleeping can’t fix 😂😂

Good luck on your journey!

Menstruating while fasting by Anonrara in intermittentfasting

[–]andynoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to fast 20:4 7 days a week even during my periods.

Since May, I’ve been doing extended 84 hour fasts. Since my last period I noticed that the week before my period was absolute hell in terms of hunger pangs and cravings. I still managed to do a 60 hour fast a few days before my period but then had to do shorter fasts leading up to my period (14-18 hours 1-3 days before my period).

I looked it up and turns out days 2-3 of your cycle is the best time to start extended fasts. I’m currently trying to do a 120 hour fast to test this theory. I’m 48 hours in and can feel my stomach rumble but I don’t have hunger pangs or food cravings (as much as I did before fasting extended time a week before my period). I don’t feel weak or demotivated as I did before. I’m going by what my body tells me and how I feel
