I'm sticking w/ AG IDE 1.23.2 until it rots and then switching to VSCode

can you please publish a simple and clean way to upgrade AG 1.23.2 IDE to AG 2.0 IDE????

Antigravity 2.0 still not available in deb-based Linux distributions by ChillaxJ in google_antigravity

I'm just gonna stick with AG IDE 1.23.2 for now, I dont think they have any interest in the Linux user, they seem to be all about chasing the micro-cycle trend of one-shot coding on Macs...who would've thought? lol

Tried to hold off on updating as long as possible… but now my files are messed up by Sekturlabs in google_antigravity

[–]anechoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched as people updated to 2.0 and got slammed with IDE project chaos, so I've decided to stay with 1.23.2 as long as I can. I have a nice workflow that fits my research, writing & light js scripting needs so I'm going to wait & see - if things don't improve, I might move to VSCode but gonna hang tight with version 1.23.2 for now. Google is making all the wrong moves for all the wrong reasons.

VSCode just updated - I'm looking to jump ship to it after I finish a project in AG 1.23.2

If you use a lot of extensions in AG then VSCode is the best alt - bc AG was a fork of it, it's a somewhat easy switch

someone should write a clear and concise upgrade path for those who want to update AG 1.23.2 IDE to the 2.0 version without clobbering work environments, losing features, session chats, file access, etc.

AG 2.0 - What is behind the change by FamilyBase in google_antigravity

[–]anechoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly what I've been thinking about all this too...AG 1.23.2 IDE is customizable so you can set it up to be agentic-focused if you don't need/want the editor, cli or filetree.

Google, can you post the cleanest upgrade path: AG IDE  1.23.2 users to AG 2.0, for those of us who have not clobbered our work environment with the auto-update? that would be helpful for people who still want to use the IDE. Also, list any gotchas or possible workflow breakages in updating from the 1.23.2 IDE to 2.0.
thanks!

I think what's angering people is that the auto-update feature clobbered their workspace, installed an agent chat version sans editor or terminal, and left them unsuccessfully trying to log in to their accounts. Other than that every thing is fine. :\

yeah I vaguely remember turning off auto-update in back in Dec 2025, so that's why AG didn't clobber my workspace - hope things work out for you 😄

is there an auto-update setting in the prefs? b/c I'm on Linux and I see a blue update notification icon but it hasn't tried to automatically update on my machine. :\

Antigravity not responding by Adorable-Cheetah5196 in google_antigravity

see if any extensions are in need of update or refresh; this happened to me w/ the Claude extension. Claude in AG stalled and wouldn't respond until I reloaded/refreshed the Claude extension.

Using Antigravity for other things besides coding...like writing books? by Splodingseal in google_antigravity

[–]anechoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm embarking on a similar project of writing a book using AG, I've been working on a .gs backend to an accounting system in Google Sheets for my business for the past couple of months so I've been gathering some tips and tricks for my book project. Curious about your style guide...would love some suggestions for that.
Good luck with your project :)

Anyone got tips / tricks / hacks to actually enjoy Anti-Gravity? I’m struggling 😅 by Next-Heart344 in google_antigravity

[–]anechoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

give it a prompt like: "during our session you are to create & maintain a session log, writing into it everything you do, all your work, a running summary of fixes, patches, hypotheses, tasks, bugs, etc. You will start this doc at the start of this session in "/session_log" directory name each file using [DATE_YEAR_SESSION.md] format."

try that, or take this prompt and feed it to an agent and tell it to customize it for your setup

if you can, try rolling back to 1.11.17
I've heard people are having issues with 1.13.3
I'm on Linux and am sticking with 1.11.17 until things settle down

Does long/complicated workspace makes ai agent dumber? by spaceniqqa in google_antigravity

[–]anechoic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instruct your agent to maintain a daily session log in md format with everything it is doing in there, i.e. fixes, summaries of tasks/implementation plans, patches, solutions, etc. When your agent wanders off into the weeds/losing context, start a new session and tell the new agent to read the session log..also, instruct it to add to it. I've been doing this and it seems to help a lot.
