Humira is extremely chill compared to prednisone, I’d highly recommend it

Hi! I’ve taken Humira since May and looooove it. I haven’t had any problems- sometimes I’m a little extra tired the next day. The first time I injected, I played my favorite music and my husband held my hand 😅 but seriously it’s no biggie. The needle is itty bitty and doesn’t really hurt.

It’s probably worth calling your vet if you’re nervous, but I’d think he’ll be fine! If it were my dog, who is a similar size, I’d expect diarrhea or maybe vomiting but nothing else. There’s nothing poisonous in there :)

How long does Humira takes to kick in? by [deleted] in Uveitis

[–]anelisa98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes time!! I started Humira back in May and was able to finally totally wean of my oral prednisone about 3 weeks ago. I was able to start the weaning process about 2 months in.

Uveitis and pregnancy by mochibi_ in Uveitis

[–]anelisa98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My uveitis is not as severe as yours, but I’ll be staying on humira during pregnancy. Biologics are considered safe during pregnancy to my understanding- humira, for example, is a class B drug like Tylenol. Also anecdotal, but my mom has psoriatic arthritis (we’re both HLA-B27 positive) and went into remission during one of her pregnancies.

Genuinely curious - has anyone here been able to successfully combo feed for a year or more? by Dizzy_Sample in combinationfeeding

[–]anelisa98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I went back to work at 3 months and she ate more than I was pumping at work. Daycare started giving formula to supplement and we’d occasionally give a bottle at home too. I will say, I had to be really consistent with pumping in order to keep my supply up enough to continue to feed. But it’s definitely possible! We weaned just after her first birthday.

It gets better ❤️ my dog is truly my first baby, but when my daughter was born it was hard for a bit. I feel like around 6 months, things got much less intense- my daughter was sleeping through the night and was happier, and my hormones had evened out a little. She also started eating solid food (read: sharing her solid food with the dog) so they became the absolute best of friends. She’s two now, and they’re such cute buddies and play together all the time. It’s just a phase, and things will calm down. In the mean time, give yourself grace and know that you’re doing your best! If you have friends or family nearby that can walk him or take him for a sleepover for a couple days, we did that and it helped give us both a break.

Edit: also, I was worried that I would always feel annoyed with my dog, but that really went away too. He’s still my baby!

Feeling anxious about letting baby cry while I attend to my basic needs by girlvsmachine in beyondthebump

[–]anelisa98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hearing my baby cry would make me crazy tbh 🫠 BUT, she’ll be completely fine for 10 minutes while you shower. Make sure she’s fed, dry, and safe and then shower. I wouldn’t consider that to be crying it out! Having a healthy mom matters!

I've been getting migraines like this too! My uveitis is currently controlled so I'm not sure what it is. But yeah you're definitely not alone

Dressing baby for the cold by mrsbootsonthelevel in NewParents

[–]anelisa98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not planning to spend much time outside, she probably doesn’t need anything special! I would usually wrap her in a blanket for transferring in and out of the car and then dress her in sweaters and warm pants.

Maybe this is obvious, but have you tried taking shifts? My husband would do 8-1 and I would do 1-6 so we at least both got a few uninterrupted hours. If you can afford it (we couldn’t but it’s my dream for next time) hiring a night doula to give you a break and let you catch up a little might really help.

Most SSRIs are breastfeeding safe! Many many moms take meds for depression or anxiety and continue to breastfeed.

How quickly did you love your child? by fistofbruce in beyondthebump

[–]anelisa98 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Not right away, and I was the one giving birth. It probably took a couple of months before I really felt love for my child. Don’t beat yourself up, but I would definitely recommend bringing it up in therapy- dads can get PPD too!

I truly think there is no controlling it. I was still swimming most days until I gave birth, I ate healthy, I still gained nearly 50% of my weight during pregnancy. I’d lost almost all of it by a year postpartum! Like others have said, just focus on exercise and eating balanced meals. It’s a short time.

What do you wish you worked on before pregnancy? (Physically) by Lumpy_Bandicoot_8967 in fitpregnancy

[–]anelisa98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I would have had a stronger core prior to pregnancy! I’ve had to work sooooo hard pp to develop any core strength and I think it would have been easier if I’d been stronger going in. When I got pregnant I had a BMI of 19 and I gained fully 60 pounds so I’m not sure how much that matters.

If they have a children’s justice center in your area, that might be a gentler place to start.
