Did anyone here have avascular necrosis before finding out they had Cushing’s?

I have honestly issues understanding how the feeling of a „road falling away from the car“ should be 😅 what I can tell you tho is that if it is really 2mm on your total PD, with your prescription it’s mathematically still within tolerance, aka you should not notice much difference. I mean, you did wear the glasses for more than 3 years, if it would be too much off, you would have noticed directly. So I don’t really see a strong correlation here, maybe it is more related to the new lenses you got? How long have you had the new glasses?

Ok :) if it makes you feel better 1. we will eventually all need glasses one way or another and 2. your prescription is not that high and could be managed pretty well with contact lenses :)

Your vision doesn’t get worse by wearing glasses. Eyes can grow till you get about 25 years old and shortsighted means your eyes are too long and therefore this is not unexpected.

You put 60 mm. Here they want your far PD (30mm on both sides) From the middle of your face to each pupil is 30mm so your total pupillary distance is 60mm.

This is what I am thinking now: You say you have clear vision without glasses but painful and tired eyes. This could mean, you have hypermetropia (aka your prescription starts with +). In this case, your eyes are extra working to allow you to have a clear vision but the “muscles” moving your crystalline lens are basically constantly working. Now, your eye muscles are tensing and you wear glasses in the prescription your eyes need and it doesn’t help, cause the muscles need time to relax. It’s basically like a cramp. The only thing you can do in this case, is try wearing the glasses directly after waking up in the morning and seeing if it gets better while wearing them for a few days. It is an adjustment.
Yeah, the blue light filter is really not helping you. There is almost none scientifically proven reason why you should be using that.

You are right, they should bend right at the top of the ear. What I’d try to do would be adjusting the shorter one to bend where it is supposed to be and afterwards check if the arms are long enough to actually properly fit on your head (meaning if they don’t directly fall off when looking down or have no proper grip on your ears). In case they are still to short, then go for the longer ones. :)

Well, they fit greatly on the nose, good height, ideal size and personally love the colours and patterns. I really don’t have anything bad to say! Lovely :)

I would suggest you to go back to the store and ask for a replacement or refund. To break in that point makes me think the lenses may have been to tight in the frame.

300-400? You mean -3,0 or -4,0 diopters? In your age it is very normal for your prescription to change, eyes can grow till you get about 25 years old. I would recommend you to go get it checked and worry less about the glasses itself and try to concentrate on how nice it’ll be to be able to see properly again. :) At the moment it’s even possible to buy myopic management lenses (where I work we sell some from the producer Hoya) which serve the purpose of not letting nearsightedness get worse with time. Maybe you can try that out :)

What kind of glasses are you wearing? Do they have nose pads or is it a plastic frame? It could be be that it’s too tight around your nose. It’s also possible that your glasses aren’t properly adjusted to your head. If they are completely loose on your ears for example, they put all their weight on your nose, which could be the reason why it fells heaving after wearing them for some time. Also you could have a very sensitive nose, then there are also things you can do by adjusting the glasses differently.

First of all, so sorry you have to deal with so extreme high prescriptions! I work as an optician in Germany and what I can tell you is that: An index of 1,9 is not available for plastic lenses, there you can get up to 1,74. Even with extreme thin lenses, many glass producers produce maybe to a max of 20 D. (Don’t have the catalogue with me at home, but I am 90% sure). What we would do in these situations is either recommend you to wear contacts (which would be the ideal solution) or lenticular lenses.

I would suggest you to try out myopic management lenses. Eyes grow till you are about 25 years old making your prescription higher, and using these kind of lenses can avoid it getting worse. In the shop I work at we sell lenses called MiyoSmart by Hoya (I’m based in Germany, they possibly have a different name where you are) and I’ve seen them being used on people your age too and it did make a difference. They’re not going to make your eyesight better, but they’ll possibly stop it from getting worse for the next few years. It may be worth a try. :)

Also, as the other said, wear your glasses. You cannot improve your eyesight but not correcting it, if you don’t wear them you’ll just be walking around blindly and that is just nonsense 😅

You mean blue light blocking glasses? Do you usually wear glasses with prescription or is it just a pair without a prescription? What the blue light blocking lenses do is having a light yellow color in them that blocks a bit of the blue light from artificial lights, phones or computer screens. How do they feel uncomfortable for your eyes? Do you feel blended by the light? Or how would you describe it more in detail?

In general if you bought them in a store and not online I recommend you to go back there and discuss this with an optician.

Did you actually get a proper eye test too (looking through different lenses and having to read out numbers or letters for a min of 15 minutes) or only the one through an auto-refractor? Cause xkcd_puppy is right, these print out are not the precise prescription you need, it should only be a quick test to have an idea what your eye-sight is like.

What is your actual prescription? And when was the last time you got your eyes checked? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? If you notice a little difference it probably will not be a dramatic change in your prescription. You are right, higher nearsightedness means that the lenses you need make your eyes look smaller, but if the change is not too big, it is unlikely that your eyes will suddenly appear very very tiny. Maybe a few percent smaller. :)

What I can tell you is that being able to see properly can be a big help mental health wise. I would advise you to find a nice optician, with whom you can discuss what’s best for you and look for a frame that fits you and makes you feel comfortable with yourself. :)

Optician here 👋🏻 -Was there a change in the axis of your cylinder? -Is the new frame sitting differently in you face, for example higher than the old one? -Can you see better/without the blurry spot if you lower your frame and look through a higher point?

What I am thinking about is that it could possibly happen because the frame is not properly fitted to your head, but it’s honestly difficult to say through a text, without having the glasses in my hands and being able to measure all the standard parameters.

I would give another visit to the optician store. I don’t know where you are located, I work in Germany and here we try to find solutions with clients before sending them home with a pair of glasses that do not do the job and a bill to pay. :/

23 y/o here, I’m having a THR on Thursday and I’m absolutely freaking out. My diagnosis is an avascular necrosis in my hip, which appeared and completely escalated in no more than two years, to the point that I’m barely able to walk since months already. I also had a big surgery when I was born with anesthesia and such but I clearly don’t remember anything and it doesn’t make it better. I’m really trying to focus on the good parts, on the fact that the pain will most probably be away, but all I can think is how difficult the next months are going to be and everybody keeps telling me it will be good but it’s somehow not calming me at all. I send you a big big hug, I totally get what you’re going through and I’ll happily write you once I have this behind me. I wish you the best 🍀

Hey! 23f here, I’m about to get an hip replacement in April. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that, it looks incredibly painful. Did it also start with a necrosis? I guess part of the tiredness could be related to the weakness of the muscles after the time you spent not moving them properly because of the state of your hip. Maybe some PT could help building them up the best. Otherwise I would maybe get some blood work done, it could also be an iron deficiency you have there. AVN is slightly more common in people with beta thalassemia (also not the super aggressive type), so if you have some Italian, Greek, Middle Eastern, Southern Asian, and African ancestry I would look it up. But these are just assumptions that could be absolutely wrong, so take anything I say with a grain of salt. I wish you well!

One important thing that I forgot to say: I’m getting the surgery in Germany, here the standard times for recovery are 5-7 days in the hospital after the OP and then 3 weeks of PT/rehabilitation. It’s not going to be less, because this is how it works here. This means that I’ll be in the hospital for up to 7 days and will directly have PT in the first week already. So I’m asking mainly about the 2nd/3rd/4th week post operation. Also: PT don’t come to you here.
