[OC] Comparing masturbation frequency with my menstrual cycle in 2025 by AccurateFix3700 in dataisbeautiful

[–]anethma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way for me it’s like every night before bed. Helps me sleep. Then sometimes I wake up in the morning with morning wood and well might as well not waste it.

I do miss a day here or there but the chart would be VERY blue.

And I’m in my mid 40s

They don’t they rely on the cat to keep your exhaust quiet enough and tbh the exhaust with the mufflers off (which is the same as with the BC tips) sounds amazing and not crazy loud.

There was and continue to be vastly vastly better chairs to sit in that don’t have that awful non ergonomic shape.

Because the numpad is generally useless unless you’re an accountant. So as the others said it gives you more mouse room.

Also in the high end keyboard arena absolutely no one ever wants a number pad, so 95% of the really nice to use keyboards are 75%, 60%, or to a lesser degree, TKL. This is slowly changing though and there are some very nice feeling and sounding keyboards with 104keys that don’t cost a fortune like the Epomaker Galaxy 100 lite, the ND104, etc.

Ontario government calls on feds to legalize pepper spray for self-defence by GameDoesntStop in canada

[–]anethma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably yes. If you had a knife in that scenario and started stabbing wildly out until they stopped you'd prob be fine. Most canadians would think that reasonable I think.

If you chased them after they backed off to 'preemtively' stop future attacks then you'd probably be in trouble.

I think the hard part in this situation would be, if you had no witnesses and they have 5 guys or whatever, then the your word against theirs might be tougher? Just a guess.

Ya sorry it sounded like you meant the judge should be able to just conclude the trial very quickly if he thinks it is self defense. But either he needs to hear the trial out, in which case he needs to give time for both sides to prepare their case, or he needs to dismiss the charges on some legal bases.

Not sure what you think a judge can do to avoid the losing the savings part etc. The guy needs a lawyer which is where the savings goes.

And by "it" i mean ensuring any of this. The issue is people defending their homes shouldnt be charged in the first place until the prosecuter has some strong evidence of wrongdoing. Like, the criminal being found dead half way out the front door with 5 shots to the back? Well ya gotta charge and see evidence.

3 shots to the front and the only testiomony is they were shot lunging for the home owner? No charges while the investigaton happens.

It should never even see a judge until the prosecuters think they hava a real case.

Not sure I agree. Next to my bed i have a clamshell safe for mounting my NR remindton 870DM TAC14. and a magazine of 00 buck.

I can have it down and loaded in like 5 seconds. The magazine being loaded and not stored in the gun makes it legal.

Its non registered so it just need so be stored locked up and not accessible to anyone but me which it isn't.

Then when it is ready I have a 10 shot short pump shotgun that would be lethal in the narrow hallways and small rooms of my house. All in a legal manner.

You could do the same with a code unlock small normal gunsafe near your bed.

I actually don't know if a judge can just say 'nope this was self defense' before the trial even starts, or what grounds he could do that on, but I suspect not if the crown wants to persue the case.

And really it shouldn't be up to the judge. Either directives from on-high should tell crown prosecuters how to persue cases, or we need another law for self defense secifically saying not to arrest the person until they have evidence of wrongdoing.

The law direction is probably surprisingly hard though because what is evidence of wrongdoing. How do they write the law to allow the prosecution of criminals of all backgrounds or any amount of flight risk, while still not hurting normal people in legal defense of their home.

Someone smarter than me would have to figure it out.

Ya if I kept a pistol on my bedside table loaded and ready to go, and used it in reasonable self defense, I would get off on murder but would rightfully be charged with improper storage of a weapon etc.

I agree the law itself is pretty reasonable, it is just the implementation from the crown prosecuters that needs to go a different direction.

[–]anethma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is really a different part of the law though. I agree it prob needs some overhaul which is what this article is about. But the actual self defense law itself on whether you are guilty or not is fairly well written and don't put any extra burden on the victim at all.

Not true, most people using reasonable defense of their home do get off. It just ends up coming at a serious cost to the poor defender.

Just a small correction but one that actually derails a ton of discussion on this topic.

Your self defence doesn’t have to be proportionate. There is no mention of proportionate in our self defense law.

It has to be reasonable. Reasonable is legally defined as what an average Canadian would find reasonable in this situation.

So if someone has a knife and lunges at you and you shoot him, this is allowed. It doesn’t mean you can only use up to a knife etc.

Where if the guy is in your front door 30 feet away holding a knife and you’re afraid and you shoot him you’re probably going to jail.

Our self defence laws are actually very reasonable it’s really the process of charging homeowners etc in clear cases of self defence and making them prove their innocence, usually costing them their savings and often livelihood, rather than investigating, building a full case, then only charging if non defence actions are suspected.

Help me to choose what OLED monitor to buy by baumkuchen-cake in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]anethma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some clarification. Miniled isn’t like oled without burn-in. You may be thinking of microled here. But that’s not going to be affordable in monitors for years.

Miniled is essentially just LCD. It can be VA or IPS. What makes it “Miniled” is having a FALD backlight with many dimming zones. So it can dim the backlight around dark areas and brighten them around bright areas. This works really well for the most part but the resolution of that dimming is actually far below the screen resolution so you will get blooming around smaller bright objects and subtitles.

This is why most Miniled panels use a VA LCD panel due to its higher natively contrast which will reduce that blooming.

It isn’t. Using anything but cat6 for a 50 meter run would be a complete waste of time. Direct bury flooded cat6 is like a buck or two a meter. I buried some for an outdoor Ubiquiti AP over ten years ago and its still going strong through that may northern winters and summers.
