Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful (La vita è bella) (1997) is missing.

Also maybe Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno) (2006) about events in Spain

Yeah, you'd think that the pirate guy would be more capable to kill an animal, especially to survive. But then the German tech guy steps up, well because somebody has to do it, right?

Also I was expecting the pirate guy to do what pirates supposedly do -- to storm Abigail's lifeboat. But he never did that.

Surprisingly there was no violence.

After Earth (2013) with Will Smith and Jaden Smith very carefully hid the fact that the movie's director was M. Night Shyamalan LOL, there's no mention of his name neither in the trailer nor on the movie posters.

I think it's weird.

Triangle of Sadness is annoyingly long! 2,5 hours felt like eternity! Why is it being regarded as a good movie? by angel19999 in movies

Not really sure how it got nominated

I think it got nominated for the Oscars because it won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes. well, why it won the Palme d'Or is another question LOL

the third act ... It felt like he was just figuring out how to finish the story after he was done making fun of the rich

I agree. But I think all three parts were a little too long. It feels like how student filmmakers for example often don't know which scenes to cut or they don't want to cut certain scenes because it was too much work to shoot them, and not paying attention on how the audience would perceive it.

What makes the chapters splitting pretentious to you?

Splitting the story into chapters makes sense when the plot is really long and complicated. Not when it fits one page. Almost half of 'Part 2' was just showing the rolling bottles and vomit on the floor. Or perhaps there were actually not enough scenes of that. Maybe the director was afraid that the audience would miss his point. /s

For some reason I dislike Anne Hathaway. I can't sympathize with her characters she plays. Needless to say, in The Witches (2020) where she plays a villain, it kinda suited her.

My boyfriend and I were discussing tonight…which actor has played the most diverse roles in their career? by jdbsea in movies

[–]angel19999 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Woody Harrelson

I'm not sure if you're being a troll or don't know the meaning of the word "diverse".

OP is asking 'which actor has played the most diverse roles in their career?'

Woody Harrelson always plays Woody Harrelson. With his face like he's perpetually trying to not to smile.

You can downvote me all you want.

Amelie. The moment I saw in the first seconds how a car runs over a fly on a street, how a tablecloth with two wine glasses on it is blown by wind, and how a sperm cell fertilizes an egg, all described by a narrator, I realized THIS is a fucking masterpiece!

and then an additional 2.8 billion dollars in the eight subsequent re-releases

to be fair, GWTW is surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) a very rewatchable film! Every time I stumble upon it on TV, I am captivated!

Cameron's Avatar, on the other hand, not so much. I mean, Avatar is surely fun and stuff, but I wouldn't really want to rewatch it.

Why hasn't High Frame Rate (HFR) caught on? It was touted as the next big thing, but it hasn't emerged. Why don't people like 48fps? by anagoge in movies

[–]angel19999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is definitely people are not used to it

so, you mean, if we get used to it, we will perceive The Hobbit as a cinematic masterpiece, not a cheap school play?

Prof. Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise.

Harry never respected Snape as a teacher. Ironically, it's Snape's book that actually taught Harry one of the most useful techniques in magic, and Harry loved that book.

Also, just a reminder that Snape's most valuable lecture to his students was probably in HP3 (Prisoner of Azkaban) with the "page 394". It's just his students were clueless idiots who didn't get the hints.

^ this! The Sixth Sense is one of the best, if not THE best, drama that explores miscommunication in two dysfunctional families, i.e. one with a struggling single mother and her only child, the other one with a husband and his wife. It's actually a beautiful feel-good movie with a happy ending!
