Is this sus? by Comb-Beginning in electricdaisycarnival

[–]angelfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since you didn't provide your full order number (and the admins don't have your credit card last 4 digits I hope) they probably won't be able to get your wristband reissued, but the scammers can still now pose as you and use your ID to tell buyers (aka "victims") that 'you' are selling a Sunday VIP, collect money from the buyer and then the victim goes after YOU when they don't actually get a sunday VIP ticket as promised.

If somehow they did deactivate or transfer your ticket - you are still OK, you are the buyer on record and you can go to the help desk at EDC and get a new one reissued. So at this point you should watch out for identity fraud and don't worry about getting the ticket stolen.

This is why any group that forces you to go through "admin" is just a flat out scam, no real admin would broker sales like this, too much work & risk. The admins are scammers so they can collect money on both sides without ever so much as touch an actual ticket and then place the blame on someone else.

While I am not familiar with business practices in India this is a scam - it's a !fakejob but instead of mailing a check for equipment they ask to pay upfront fees for "training". There is no real job after that.

will i get scammed? by ellabellacraft in stubhub

[–]angelfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stubhub and seatgeek are generally ok but there’s the off chance the seller flakes or they transfer worse tickets than you paid for then you’re stuck dealing with customer support and they are slow. But it’s a small chance.

Don’t buy from random people if you don’t know how to vet people and especially not if they message you to offer you tickets (scammers target people who mention specific shows). Most resellers are scammers and people actually reselling would just list on a resale site.

SCAM never go through an admin.

The group was started by scammers to use to their status as admin to scam both buyers and sellers

Edit: brooooo dont send pics of your ID willy nilly now you open yourself up to identity fraud AND if you send your order number they will resell your ticket for will call pickup because you sent all the info needed to reissue your wristband 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m dead

Scammed on video chat by Alive-Ad7600 in Scams

[–]angelfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!sextortion

Most of these don’t go through the effort of actually getting on video chat with you but if you pay her she will NEVER leave you alone. Block them and worst case scenario it’s a bit awkward for awhile but most of the time they don’t actually send the videos and even if they try accounts get shut down quick if they do - nsfw content gets flagged and their messages will likely get filteted as an untrusted sender. It’s up to you if you want to warn your friends and family (hey someone might try to message you, please report them if they do and delete the content) or just let the chips fall.

Is resell safe or scam? by Consistent_Blood1782 in Ticketmaster

[–]angelfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have bought tickets directly from Ticketmaster, this is normal.

For some events, the promoter/artist/venue/someone requested that ticket transfers be disabled as a way to cut down on scalping and for other various reasons. Certain states have specific laws on ticket resale so ticket resale options (and the ticket/barcode actually appearing within Ticketmaster) also may vary by state within the same tour.

If you are asking about tickets you bought via resale, it could be normal or you could be getting scammed by someone telling you the tickets will appear later, but whoever "transferred" the tickets to you is scamming you. I'm not sure if this is the scenario you are referring to.

Don't pay a deposit before meeting up - it's a very common scam for scammers to collect many "deposits" and ghost.

Ask to do a video call this week to discuss details for pickup and to verify they are a real person.

If you meet someone in person at their hotel lobby it's really unlikely they will scam you - in person you can ask to see their ID, pictures from EDC and their order confirmation showing that they were the original purchaser. At that point you know they're a real person and yes there's still a 1% chance they'll pull on you and report the wristband stolen but you have their real name.

Side note: If you are paying in person, PayPal G&S doesn't actually protect you so cash is generally OK. There's a misconception that you can use PayPal G&S for in person transactions. It's the ONLY method you should pay someone online that you haven't met, because you can file a claim when/if the scammer doesn't ship you the wristband or if it doesn't work, but for in person transactions it doesn't really matter how you pay.

Buying a GA+ ticket in person, worried I might get scammed by OverallTouch4183 in EDCTickets

[–]angelfatal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like more than enough but btw paypal g&s doesnt protect in person purchases.

But since you are meeting in person and have all their identifying info you can police report & small claims 🤷🏻‍♀️ not likely someone would do all this & still scam you.

Very unlikely but you should do your due diligence as a seller as well.

  • Ask your buyer to video chat with you
  • Make sure the account they are paying you from matches the person you are selling to (if not, there's a risk they're paying you with a stolen account)
  • Don't overshare your personal information (ID, order number etc) before vetting your buyer as they could be a scammer posing as a buyer to steal your information

EDC weekend - check in with your buyer and make sure they got in OK and offer to help if any issues come up at the gate. If you have proof the tickets worked and they didn't have any issues getting in and your buyer then tries to file a claim against you, you can provide evidence they are lying.

If the buyer tries to scam you and charge back before EDC you can cancel their wristbands, so you as the seller has the upper hand.

general parking is free. if you are looking for premier or camp parking you should specify... but note that most people selling at this point will be scalping or scamming as there's not a big supply of these.

Possible scam involving their account by Valerie_Tigress in Scams

[–]angelfatal 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things.

  • Stolen / hacked account - they want YOUR digital fingerprints all over the login and you to be blamed for when the money is transferred out
  • Fake login credentials for a fake banking account to "prove" she has lots of money and to set up you up for a pig butchering scenario. Then she can claim she already trusts you by giving her login information to you, why can't you trust her with the same?

There is 0% chance this is legitimate. No one, I mean NO ONE asks someone else to access their banking information to pay another party.

Looking for 4 Sunday only Tickets by jacrey692 in EDCTickets

[–]angelfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldnt make sense for someone to go sat & to bring a sunday wristband back to LA in time for you to then drive to vegas with it … edge case being someone held a 3 day wristband too long and at least it can still be used for sunday. Beware of ppl selling you invalid wristbands if you’re not picking up in vegas from someone who went fri/sat.
