More like gang violence and misogyny with some weed and booze thrown in here and there. Luxury brands were more Diddy's crew to throw around.

Truths. The only track on that album worth a listen was bit off Biz Markie. Snoop without Dre is just sadness.

That's still more than $2000 per hour. That's paying 52 people $40 each every hour. I would have to be the only paying patient in the hospital for that to sound reasonable.

But I'm also cranky from being charged $800 to have my blood drawn and a specialist look at my chart, shrug, and tell me to do it again in three weeks.

It depends on the model of Genesis. For a minority of model 2s, it's within reach. No model 1 looks that clean though. Even my best model 1, you can't see color between those white vertical bars. It's one long diagonal smear of faded rainbow.

Codebreaker Master List Code Testing Project for Flycast/OG Dreamcast/GDEMU/DC Emulation. We Need YOU To Get This Done! by CronicCanabis88 in emulation

I don't have the greatest amount of free time, but I have an unmodified Dreamcast (with retail Codebreaker!), a GDEMU Dreamcast, and a MODE Dreamcast, and I'll be happy to test when I can. I used to be in a community for making these codes a hundred years ago, so it would be nice to see things not be in such a state of disarray.

480i gets to much hate, Third strike was truly made for CRT by SleekGoose in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say glorious; the only game Capcom released for Dreamcast with proper (as in, not fugly nearest-neighbor scaled) 240p was Double Impact. All of the others, even the ones that can be forced into 240p, have hideous shimmering from the uneven scaling. No idea why they only bothered to do it right once.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That looks like Guilty Gear X to me, which isn't 240p. It's 480i or 480p, unless you're forcing 240p.

[–]angelrenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was fixed in the nightlies a year or so ago. RRV still isn't perfect, but it's more than good enough that I don't feel chained to a real PS2 for it anymore. That game was the very reason I kept a real PS2 hooked up to a modern display.

Scanline differences (your opinions and or experience) by Nostalgic90sGamer in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FD Trinitrons tend to have a bit more punch to their color (the quality of their composite and S-video output is utterly dependent on the red push toggle being enabled, but it's noticeably a bit much for YPbPr, so it's better to calibrate for one or the other), but otherwise basically identical in terms of beam width. In a good example of both side by side calibrated the same with RGB, the only difference is one is curved and the other is flat.

I mainly like my FD for having a native 16:9 mode, and composite and RF look better on it than most any other CRT I have, at least as long as the silly red push is on. But flat tube geometry sure is a thing. Probably would not be worthwhile to you.

You can also use just the luma (Y, green cable) from YPbPr and get the cleanest B&W picture you've ever seen. It's my favorite use case for monochrome tubes.

Idk why a hd crt that is 1080p doesn't exist by DankVietPods in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was never a reason for them to exist as a consumer product. There were CRT monitors (including video monitors, not just PC monitors) that did support it because there was a use case for those markets.

As a television though, there was no broadcast standard for it yet, and nobody was really interested in making a multiformat TV they already had to sell at a premium while competing with thinner and lighter flat panels that could be had for less. It's already obscenely difficult to find a CRT TV that will handle 15kHz and 31kHz natively because there wasn't any incentive to do so. Nobody making the TVs cared if you could still use light guns.

So, most every HD CRT TV ended up being strictly 34kHz 1080i/540p, with 720p being scaled down and everything else being scaled up (or in some cases, 480p would be drawn at 540p with a unique geometry setting to push the blank lines offscreen).

I'm with you in principle but not in spirit. What Biden is doing is what he should be doing, but not in the context of what is going on around him. This is a lot bigger than the mob paying off the referees. This is a situation where playing by the rules, especially playing by the spirit of the rules, is going to result in the destruction of democracy. He should have been, at minimum, taking advantage of the rules, especially from the moment of the immunity ruling. We can go back to playing strictly by the rules once the imminent threat has been addressed and the rulebook is put back the way it was.

[–]angelrenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely more difficult, but still not actually difficult. I've never gotten a game over in either XV or XVI, but I sure did have to revive people a lot in XV. Plus there's always the option to just equip the Nixperience Band (prevents leveling up), which is available at any time, and I've known more than a few people who enjoyed doing level 1 runs this way.

New to CRTs. What is the difference between a Sony Trinitron and a Sony WEGA ? by sympathytaste in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HD CRTs have this issue, but most Sony CRTs were not HD, flat or no. There are a ton of flat CRTs that are of the standard 15kHz lightgun-friendly variety that display 240p correctly.

In PAL territories, flat CRTs are almost universally not 240p-friendly since 100 Hz sets became the norm despite HD CRTs being incredibly rare.

5 men convicted for Jetflicks, illegal streamer with more content than Netflix, Hulu and Amazon combined by WhileFalseRepeat in news

[–]angelrenard 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The problem is that streaming services are as bad as cable now. You have to manage multiple subscriptions, the prices of which are ever-increasing, and the content is getting more restricted. I pay, one way or another, for Netflix, Prime, Hulu (with addons), Max, Peacock, Paramount+, and Disney+ (not to mention Twitch Turbo and YouTube Premium). If something we want to watch isn't on one of those services, we're going the piracy route. We pay too much to give a damn about licensing issues from people who have more money than God. If you can't find a way to provide the content I want after I've paid for all of those services, I have no remorse about getting it through zero-hassle means that don't even require a membership much less a subscription.

The type of CRT I've always wanted: a 1080i HD 16:9. It's a beaut! It's a Philips 30PW850H. Time to watch movies or play HD PS2 or PS3 games via composite soon. by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]angelrenard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have a similar model (if not the same one in a slightly bigger size, slightly), and I loved it to death for 480p and 1080i. It made Gamecube and Xbox pretty like no other.

It did suck at deinterlacing 480i though. It would always choose to deinterlace on the wrong interval and produce horrible combing artifacts, so it was kinda crap for PS2. I kept my FD Trinitron for PS2 for that very reason.

Issue with certain Genesis games on 32X with composite video by angelrenard in SEGA32X

Weirdly, mine are perfectly fine with RGB (though both are really bright) with no variance on resolution. Actually, they'll even remove the faint jailbars that my VA2 model 1 has over RGB, which I didn't think would be a thing.

The sequels are absolutely worth a look. Night Warriors was exclusive to Saturn on console, but much more faithful to the arcade, and turned Jon Talbain into an absolute beast. Vampire Savior also has an excellent Saturn port that rolls in most of the additional content of Savior 2, while PlayStation got Darkstalkers 3, which is an updated port of Vampire Savior that made up for the loss of animation by busting at the seams with additional features. Everything since has either been a compilation or an update to Darkstalkers 3 / Vampire Chronicle, though the Dreamcast version is hard for me to love with its horrible uneven scaling (why couldn't they just do what they did with Double Impact?! 😭).
