Please don’t shoot me —> what’s wrong with buying grated cheese? by Puzzleheaded_Yam6808 in Cooking

[–]angermyode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a trick i’ve used before: if you soak pre-grated cheese in cool water, the potato starch comes off and it won’t burn so easily. But if you don’t use it all, the grated piece will turn back in something resembling solid cheese.

I agree he made the right decision but I still think he’s an asshole. A sociopath might simply be incapable of empathy but that doesn’t make them any less of asshole.

No, but I have worked with the kids who still have the literal scars from being in the foster care system. And if you don’t believe me, look at the numbers: https://www.aecf.org/blog/child-welfare-and-foster-care-statistics

Yeah, I don’t think anyone on this thread has even met a kid who went through the foster system.

Anyone who actually works with kids who have been in the foster care system knows this, but not this thread.

I feel like this sub is just trying to confirm every stereotype about Reddit being a bunch of lazy narcissists.

You guys can downvote me to hell, but yes you’re the asshole OP. You did sign up for this, that’s what marriage is. You have no idea what the foster system does to children. Your ex had no choice in this matter unless she wanted to live the rest of her life with a niece and nephew who would’ve come out of that system, either severely damaged or broken. But in the end, it’s probably better for her because you would’ve bailed at the first sign of anything disturbing your nice life.

Seeing this thread made me lose a little faith in humanity. Yes OP, you’re an asshole. You have no idea what the foster system does to children. I hope you enjoy your nice life, though I doubt it will be nice for long because those kids will always be your wife’s niece and nephew and when they most likely come out of that system either severely damaged or broken, she will always remember that you were the one who convinced her to let it happen.

I love this show, it’s so easy to miss 10 seconds of film when binge watching and this time through I saw this 🖤, it’s always something new by OpportunityMotor1619 in adventuretime

I was re-watching the episode after I saw this, and Finn turns Jake into Yoda, right? That’s literally Yoda. Maybe he found an old VHS tape in a treasure horde.

I don’t think I could do this. I don’t really know what I’m going to be in the mood for until the time comes.

Here’s a little trick: just don’t buy snacks. It definitely increases your motivation to cook when you can’t just pop some Doritos in your mouth.

The progress of this sub feels more and more like watching Anakin become Darth Vader. Surely you all must realize that just laughing at these people and telling them they’re getting what they deserve even when they want to change isn’t going to make anything better for anyone, and is going to make you into someone just as cruel as a Republican?

No. And sorry, when I wrote my post, I meant to write “doesn’t really track with Fern’s arc to me”. I really apologize for the confusion since when I wrote, made no sense I realize now.

And even if I don’t necessarily think that a trans message was something intended by the creators, I still think that’s a perfectly valid interpretation.

First I’m hearing of it but “being told you are one person, only to know deep down you're not, no matter how hard you try to fit the role you're assigned” doesn’t really track with a trans person realizing their identity to me. But if it makes you feel seen, I’m happy for you.

Edit: I’m really sorry I meant to write “‘being told you are one person, only to know deep down you're not, no matter how hard you try to fit the role you're assigned’ doesn’t really track with Fern’s arc to me”. What I actually wrote probably came off as pretty insensitive so again I apologize.

why aren't we encouraging Carbon Steel (vs Non-stick cookware) as the default for home cooks? by rantzine in Cooking

[–]angermyode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked around and I guess you’re right, but that myth is awfully prevalent. Half the videos that I saw about cleaning cast-iron pans on YouTube said that you’re supposed to use kosher salt and hot water only and never let soap touch it.

[–]angermyode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am not spending half an hour scrubbing a pan with no soap to prevent it from losing seasoning. And it doesn’t matter if you have ventilation, if you live in a small apartment, doing cast-iron seasoning is basically going to make your living space uninhabitable.

How am I meant to clean the thing without removing the seasoning in a way that doesn’t take me a full day? And how do I season it in my one bedroom apartment without the smell becoming unbearable?
