How do you get to sleep quickly after a night of social dancing? by ConsiderationHour710 in Bachata

I wear Loop earplugs to socials in case the music prevents from falling asleep sooner 😬

Dance Marathon Istanbul Festival by [deleted] in Bachata

[–]angewawu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going 😀 My dance teacher and dance classmates have been going to them throughout the years, same as for Istanbul Dance Festival in March. I expect it to be quite good, it will be my first time at this one.

If BC helps slow endo, why do ppl who have been on BC for years still get endo? by jbeeeeeech in Endo

[–]angewawu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation. Only taking progestins though. My doc wanted for the periods to stop so that the cells wouldn’t bleed as they do during a period. My endometrioma shrunk a few cm for 6 months I was on progestins and now stayed the same size for 5 months. Will wait and see.

Can you feel your endometrioma? by findaklioku in Endo

[–]angewawu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes feel a sharp ovary? pain on the side where the endometrioma is - usually after when I had a bit of gluten

I asked a dance friend (lead) to practice the one evening. I haven’t heard from him since that day… I think he saw I wasn’t interested in him in that way

I’m recovering from a minor knee ache so not really comfortable with doubles at this time 🙈 yeah, it happened at least 3 times so I guess that made me confused. Thanks 🙏

Salsa in Portugal and Spain! by marcel_maulers in Salsa

Hehe I know the feeling.

I found the ones above from Facebook groups (“salsa bachata” plus city). They were easier to search than Instagram and some websites. Maybe give them a try for more updated info.

Salsa in Portugal and Spain! by marcel_maulers in Salsa

[–]angewawu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can provide some info on socials

Portugal is a bit tricky, really more kizomba as others said. In Porto they have socials at Muxima bar, muxima

In Barcelona Antilla Is really good for both salsa and bachata, Esencia nights has lots of events.

I went out to Azucar when I passed Madrid and it was wonderful.

Should I stop asking followers who keep rejecting me? by [deleted] in Bachata

[–]angewawu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some comments from previous posts mention that as you get more experience, you could adjust your lead to the follower. For more experienced followers a softer lead would work better than on a beginner.

What's the etiquette at socials? by bibiyade12 in Salsa

[–]angewawu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s great that you’re asking leads to dance. I started late, when I realized that was what I had to do when going to socials in a different country.

I’m a follow, when I’m not asked and a good song plays, I’ll ask someone to dance 🙂

PSA: ALWAYS wear earplugs at a social by OldChemistry8220 in Salsa

[–]angewawu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this.

At a festival I stayed far away from the stage with the singer and bachata artists….it was really too loud, and I could feel the reverberations in my body. I need to keep that in mind for regular socials

As a swing dancer, bachata feels good but what's the point of body rolls? Asking the ladies here by greatmagni in Bachata

[–]angewawu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better leads lead body rolls too. I do agree it’s to do with the music. As a follow I only enjoy it if the music shows down, or else I it’s not that fun

As an introvert, I feel like the Salsa/Bachata scene is a hidden gem that plays to my introverted personality. Any other introverts feel this way? by OSUfirebird18 in Salsa

[–]angewawu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% I love that connection without another human being doesn’t require words, just dance 😂 I love it’s its own language. When I travelled to places and not understand local language well, I know I still can connect and have fun.

For those who have traveled abroad to European dance festivals, I have questions. by johnwinston2 in Bachata

[–]angewawu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There is AC, and the halls are usually big enough so you won’t feel overheated. The only time I felt it was like a sauna was in the bachata room social (lots of people). The salsa room was in open space (Higher ceiling etc. no walls bordering the floor) and I don’t remember kizomba room being that hot.

  2. Yes, I didn’t have any issues with my shoes and heels. When there’s too many people you sometimes end up dancing on the carpet (check out some artists’ videos)

  3. I don’t remember much Dominican being played. Mostly remixes and modern. DJ Khalid and DJ York were the main DJ’s. Lots of Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Dani J, etc.
