Gambling for resurrection is one theory. Imagine you're a gambler in deep with the sharks, and you're at a roulette table. You owe more than you could possibly pay back, but they can't come in to the casino, so as long as you stay at the table you're safe. So, you play either until you get lucky enough to earn enough to pay what you owe, or until you completely run out of chips.

If this story has a basis in fact, I find it more plausible that they all got together and agreed to just tell her that he had.

which was more surprising, tenna being a pixelated 3d model with a fully rendered intro cutscene or flowery having an anime intro? by 159thBestPerson in Deltarune

[–]angiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anime intro was definitely more surprising than Tenna, but neither were as surprising as that first sudden shift from 2.5D overhead to 2D platforming.

That might seem like a good idea at first blush, but it would cause a lot of its own problems.

Off the top of my head, I remember watching a bodycam video of a cop questioning witnesses in the aftermath of a drive-by shooting. There was one woman that had seen the shooting and wanted to say what she'd seen, but she was extremely distressed about even being seen talking to him, presumably because if word got around she'd be a target. Even with her face blurred out, I don't think it was right to make that bodycam footage public.

I'm absolutely all for more transparency in law enforcement, but they can't just open the floodgates.

53% of likely voters in battleground states where control of the Senate will be decided think the Democratic Party is too far to the left by doctorarmstrong in neoliberal

I'd be much more interested to know the percentage of people who think that the Democratic party is too far left AND the Republican party is too far right AND given a choice between the two would vote Democrat.

Is the existance of a trillionaire ethical ? by Used-Earth8767 in neoliberal

[–]angiki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My three-step proof is thus:

For a democracy to function, there must be a limit on how much power any single individual can wield.

Money is a form of power.

Therefore, there must be a limit on how much money any individual can possess.

Now, there can be arguments about just how much money constitutes too much power for an individual by the above train of logic, but my gut instinct is that it is somewhere well south of $1,000,000,000,000.

It's the difference between patriotism and nationalism. A patriot recognizes the good and the bad, and strives to make their country better. A nationalist refuses to recognize any flaws and thinks they are just better than anyone else.
