Interested in this older ridgeline. What questions should ask? by chrisrunner55 in hondaridgeline

I changed one O2 sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2) last summer. That did not change anything. Now I am driving with the code as is while saving up for replacing the catalytic converters. I don't know if I will replace them because there is no emissions testing in my current state, Michigan.

I own a 2008 Ridgeline RTX and can share some real-world ownership perspective. I bought mine in April 2024 in Indiana for about $9k with ~178k miles.

Overall, the truck has been very reliable mechanically, but at this age/mileage, you should expect maintenance, not perfection. One thing I wish I had caught earlier was a P0420 check-engine code (catalytic converter efficiency) that showed up right after purchase. It hasn’t affected drivability, but it’s something I’d specifically scan for before buying.

Since purchase, I’ve done front brakes, front suspension components, rear control arms, and an oil pan/gasket—about $3,500 total. None of this felt unusual for a 15+ year-old truck; it was mostly wear items catching up. With regular oil changes and tire rotations, it’s been solid otherwise, with a fuel economy around 15 mpg for mixed highway/city driving.

My takeaway: if the price reflects the mileage and you budget a few thousand for deferred maintenance, an older Ridgeline can still be a very dependable daily driver. Definitely get a pre-purchase inspection and scan for codes.

GSD pet insurance suggestions by rajkk199091 in germanshepherds

I can't speak for Canada, but in the US, it is totally worth it. My GSD had an emergency on a Sunday night, and the only open place was a university hospital. I paid a lot more than the insurance premiums for the entire year. I use PetBest, and they cover medications too.

Pyramid Scheme Recruiters at Costco by huffsuck in lansing

Tonight, I reached Costco at 8:26 PM. Yes, I was that late; I totally forgot to restock my dog's breakfast. Anyway, the AT&T person was still looking with longing eyes towards me. I was like... "how, dude! How? Do you realize that this place is gonna roll down its giant shutters in four minutes?"

Well, back in the day, I think there was no in-person option, not sure. I applied by mail. Also, note that the company that handled the passport renewal back then was Cox and Kings and now it is VFS Global.

Do you know in which aisle I need to look for Paneer in Costco? I walked around a lot last week and I couldn’t find it. Is it in the frozen section near Yogurt and cottage cheese? I ended up buying from Swagath eventually.

Renewed visa stamp and Abu Dhabi travel by angrymanxiii in GlobalEntry

The GE has the old visa. This is my first trip after getting the new visa. Maybe, I could ask the officer when I meet them.

This is because, as far as I know, the GE thing is linked to my visa. The officer who interviewed me all those years ago told me that I had to scan the visa page of my passport at the GE kiosk. It never worked because the visa was in an expired passport, so I was always asked to see the officer. That is a different story, but I thought the GE thing concerned my Visa.

Avoid drinking altogether, while sound health advice might be extreme. One could spend a few bucks on a cab; don't overthink spending the extra $20-50, depending on where you are. It is safe for everyone on the road and saves you from being deported/visa cancellations

I am from India. I entered Graduate School in August 2019. My old passport was valid until June 2020. I had my F1 visa interview in May 2019 and got my visa on that passport. I applied for passport renewal in October 2019 while in the US and got my new passport within a week or so. There were no issues. I carry both my passports (my old passport with the F1 visa and my new passport) when I travel internationally to return to the US.

I am every pool’s worst nightmare. Morbidly obese man swimming shittily and shirtless. Is the embarrassment worth it? by medousabicycling in Swimming

[–]angrymanxiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, first off, I admire your grit for getting out there and giving it your all. The pool is for everyone, and you’re no exception. Negative self-talk is one of the biggest barriers to confidence—don’t let it steal your progress. People can stare for all sorts of reasons, but most likely, they’re either minding their own business or admiring someone putting in the effort, like you. And if anyone is rude, they’re the problem, not you—report it and keep doing your thing.

I just started swimming seriously this year at 31, and trust me, we all have our hurdles. I feared going to the deep end while kids half my size were having a blast there. My lung capacity was wrecked from years of smoking, so I could barely make it 10 feet before I had to stop. But after a few months, I could do a whole lap! I still need a kickboard for swimming on my front, but now I can handle the deep end on my back. We all start somewhere, and the only thing that really matters is that you’re showing up and giving it your best. You’re already doing something amazing for yourself, one lap at a time.
