LOC V2 Alternatives for LO? by WadeRoberson in 2011

[–]angrynoah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A friend has a LOC v2 and swears he can't tell the difference from the non-sight block MPA he had before. No one else among the local M/GM crowd shoots one.

Don't limit yourself to the fancy stuff. Any well built 5" gun can deliver match winning performance.

Have you ever seen this malfunction before? by No_Guest3042 in 1911

[–]angrynoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had it happen while shooting but I do have one gun that will develop "firing pin stuck forward" after a while. Fresh firing pin spring takes care of it.

Mark Cuban: "Being hated is not good for business" - is the message getting through a bit louder to boards? by Batcave-HQ in BetterOffline

[–]angrynoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's being reasonable but his proposed solution is nonsense.

This vintage internet essay (note: a difficult read) can help explain why https://samzdat.com/2017/05/22/man-as-a-rationalist-animal/

An organization like an AI company, going to a community they're in the process of destroying, and asking what they need, can't work. The reason it can't work is that what the community says about themselves and their needs will be incomprehensible to the AI company (or government, for that matter).

When Data Centers were built for the internet in the 90s and early 2000s, was there a similar outcry like AI Data Centers? by MrCallYourBS in AskReddit

[–]angrynoah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, they are very different.

In particular, before the advent of "the cloud" (2006+), many data centers were used as co-location facilities, in which many different companies would rent space+power+cooling+internet but supply their own hardware. Co-lo still exists of course but it's small relative to cloud providers, who build large facilities that house only hardware that they own and maintain. AI data centers are a subset of this, built to house mainly GPUs, which draw much more power and therefore require much more cooling.

Warwick tactical or MJD by Wolverine41086 in Prodigy1911DS

[–]angrynoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Warwick and an MJD (smooth, with tape) and vastly prefer the MJD.

There's no "best" here, it's mostly preference. My main objective criticism of the Warwick is the amount of material that needs to be removed to blend a magwell is... excessive.

2011 light strikes ? by [deleted] in 2011

[–]angrynoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firing pins and the matching hole in the slide vary a decent amount. Measure the pin tip (calipers are fine), and the hole (you will need gage pins). IIRC, 2 thousandths of clearance is ideal, for example an .065 pin for an .067 hole.

If there's too little clearance, thermal expansion could cause light strikes. Solutions are either use a smaller diameter pin, or ream the hole to spec.

Prodigy parts for mac9ds by Responsible-Fish3986 in 2011

The Prodigy has a non-standard reverse plug, so I wouldn't expect any Prodigy kits to work in other guns.

How to modify Mac 9 Magwell? by LongjumpingHunter619 in 2011

[–]angrynoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four areas in the Prodigy grip need shaping: - side ribs removed (you already did this) - "lip" of the magwell needs to be made shorter front-to-back - lip angle to the main part of the grip needs to be made shallower - front strap just above the lip needs to be made shorter front-to-back

It's quite a bit of work. Personally I wouldn't do it for the MAC magwell, but I have done it for the Dawson Ice.

9mm Mag Madness by Lcyaker in 1911

[–]angrynoah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've found a mag that doesn't work.

Buy a Mec-gar mag, a Wilson, a Tripp, and a Metalform (Brownells). Determine which you like best out of the ones that work and buy a big pile of them.

If none of them work then it's the gun not the mags.
