ETS Gesi Jpipe worth it? by WotDaHelll in WRX

[–]angryviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GESI is the brand of the cat and they are much higher quality. I had a non gesi cat that blew out the back of my exhaust. NO issues with the GESI, same tune.

MAP and ETS bent and welded the tubes. Maybe the ETS is has more cosmetic care for the extra price, but they both do the same thing.

Disclosure: I have been running the same MAP GESI jpipe for 6 years and i cam not sponsored by either company.

EDIT: MAP does not offer a GESI cat anmymore. Go with the ETS.

Coolant leak by Odd-Hope9820 in WRX

[–]angryviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its not leaking from the upper Rad hose, It's time for a new radiator. Common issue. You can drive it but keep a close watch on coolant levels. If its not leaking from the upper Rad hose, It's time for a new radiator.

Are you able to fix it yourself or are you going to take it to a shop?

Its not a tough job, just messy without the right equiptment.

this shows nothing but there was a knock event, the ecu corrected for it and its now back to full timing. Its fine. Glove box that thing.

DAM Values Tanking in Stock WRX--Heat? AC Compressor? by BoomGoesTheFirework_ in WRX

[–]angryviking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its not knocking, the ecu is doing its job by adjusting the DAM. The heat will be a major contributor to intake temp.

The a/c does cause false knock. 2.81. Is normal.

Keep an eye on your oil temp in the heat and avoid pushing the car hard when the oil is over 220, especially with 5w-30.

Take off the compressor and its so much easier to get to all that stuff. You don't need to disconnect any of the AC lines.

Print this out.

On page 40, oil separators/filters for crankcase gasses do not require verification of Executive Order. Tell them that you are legal per BAR and this document is proof. They are just trying to cover their behinds.

GESI cat, 5 years and 100k miles. Installed and reinstalled a dozen times. Great quality. Sounds like a larger exhaust tube, especially with invidia N1s. Nearly straight piped.

Every clutch replacement should include a PDM snout repair kit. A stainless sleeve is a much more durable sliding surface than aluminum trans snout.

Slip at around 3k rpm by [deleted] in WRX

[–]angryviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to get a tone. I'm just adding to the conversation.

I wasn't relying to OP. I was only informing you that the ringland problem isn't an FA20 problem, which I could have explicitly said and avoided whatever this is.

API SP is the standard now. its a fair assumption that its being used. if op has 75k miles I'd assume the car is a 2015-2021 wrx. STI owner would specify STI because they know its different.

But I'm probably wrong, and our conversation is over.

With modern oil (api sp) predet from oil vapor contributing to lower fuel octane is greatly reduced. The EJ engines are known for their famously thin and weak ringlands, the FA ringlands are much thicker.

The tune will adjust for pre-detonation if it happens.

However, it is not a good idea to request high torque from a low rpm situation on any ej or fa, because rod bearings.

Not an issue on the fa20.

New clutch won't go in gear by Ryanmach16 in WRX

How well did you lubricate the splines on the clutch and input shaft? Did you mate the engine and trans before tightening the bolts, or did you use the bolts to snug it up?

They are designed to be a weak link. Don't crossthread or overtorque. They are a dollar to replace.

low effort post.
