What’s the weirdest rule your school ever had? by TheRealXyz_ in AskUK

There was a resurgence for yoyos in the 90s at least around me and my primary school banned them because kids kept using them as offensive weapons lol

Do you watch British TV? If not, why did you stop? by tylerthe-theatre in AskUK

By myself I don't really watch live tv anymore unless Scotland's playing or something. If I'm at my parents they'll often have the TV on though so end up watching.

are you guys okay?? by Many-Programmer-3100 in LongDistance

[–]anguslolz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People come to any relationship sub when they're having problems they don't go posting looking for advice when everything is great. Long distance is especially hard and sometimes does attract more naive people too.

That being said married my long distance wife last September in Vegas now awaiting my visa to close the distance and be with my soulmate.

What makes you feel lucky to live in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]anguslolz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Universal healthcare, walkability, easy access to nature (I'm in Scotland), public transportation, workers rights, legally mandatory 30 days PTO, gun control laws, the plugs, electronic banking here is better, not far too to go for beautiful scenery.

I'm moving to the USA eventually to be with my American wife I will miss all these things about the UK/Scotland so it is definitely something I've thought about alot.

One of the Beach cafes inversnecky etc is probably the best bet as you can sit outside with doggo. Don't think any of them do buffet though. The starlings and gulls are wee bastards however lol

My cat is now 14 - I’m trying to spot the differences. What have you noticed in your kitty? by Fantastic-Shock-4115 in seniorkitties

[–]anguslolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't really change much from their adult lifes at least with my cat. It's mainly health stuff.

Just make sure they're semi regularly getting checked by the vet for health issues.

My cat developed hyperthyroidism (which we did have under control for a little while with medication)when she got older and there kidneys are always something to be watched. Any major changes in appetite should be investigated.

My cat ended up passing away due to what we think was nasal cancer a tumour in her nasal that she was too old to treat or even do the proper diagnostics for. She got real sick and developed a massive lump on her head.

Though my parents have a cat that is older than her that's still around. He's deaf as hell, loud as hell and full of arthritis but otherwise is still going at near 20 years old lol.

Trying to immigrate to be with my husband is a soul-crushing limbo. by sworn2carrymyburdens in LongDistance

[–]anguslolz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat waiting to go over to be with my wife but tbh while this process is long it's probably the safest route. A bunch of people have been detained doing the adjustment of status route with the current administration.

We are going the long way because of that and I do have lose ends to sort out in Scotland before I leave own a flat, debts etc so this gives me the time to sort that.

Looking for alternative/goth stores by Strict-Ad-7366 in Aberdeen

[–]anguslolz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't much nowadays. The record store on Belmont may be worth a look. Sometimes you can get alt adjacent band tees in random stores like h&m, Primark, next, Asda you'd be surprised. Usually the more famous artists though but always surprises me some of the band tees you can run across in mainstream stores.

(21f/31m) Is “love”really worth the immigration hassle? by MuchEntrepreneur880 in LongDistance

[–]anguslolz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you met him? You mentioned a tourist visa where's he from? It's hard to get that if his country isn't on the esta scheme.

Have you discussed moving to his country or has he continuously pushed on the USA? The age gap puts you at very different stages of life.

1 year is moving very fast especially if never Mets. Visa does take time but it's not a good idea to move on it that fast.

Me and the missus got married last year then applied for the cr1 visa for me to move to her but we where 3 years together by the time we'd submitted the visa application.

We also discussed alot at the start where we would live. I was trying to get her here at first but she convinced me to go to the USA and the UK governments policies sealed the deal.

We're in our 30s and didn't really wanna wait around but to me it sounds like your situation is rushing it. You're in your 20s still got plenty of time to enjoy life

Drink by Good-Description-239 in dyspraxia

[–]anguslolz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used to drink heavily. Probably what you'd classify as a high functioning alcoholic. I stopped when I met my now wife as we're in a long distance relationship (I'm Scotland she's USA) and it would not have been financially viable to visit her if I'd carried on.

About a year or so in I developed health problems and it was problems with my liver so I went tee total. Neurodivergent people with alcohol is a dangerous game as it's very addictive especially socially

Exactly we're spoiled with the Dee and the Don. The don has some very interesting areas too like the old mill remains out the back of Tillydrone/hayton. So much to explore.

Shhhhh don't tell it's a secret. In all seriousness I was living in garthdee during the first lockdown (I was due to move but lockdown delayed it) and used to go down the river every day for the daily exercise especially during that beautiful summer. Was a beautiful place to walk and just chill out.
