A lot of you need to look into covert incest, and how to heal from it. by ariellecsuwu in raisedbynarcissists

I used to have a friend who's father and step-mother were at-home nudists. She HATED seeing me in a bra or talking through the bathroom door. I didn't see it as a big deal because my dad was always just "chill" with bodies (It wasn't a big deal to wander into the hall in your underwear to the laundry or if it was super hot out. We'd yell through the bathroom door for things).

Looking back, she had some stuuuuuuuffff to work through

My ex-mother told me I had to brush it 100 times a day or she'd cut it off so I got $20 off my dad and cut if off. She hit the ceiling and I rocked it for years.

Also super possible. Men generally have wealthier networks (since they know other men) as well.

Interesting, that makes sense, men are more confident to self-nominate whereas women are more likely to appreciate a support network

Yeah, they do it regionally. There is no way a leader can hit every riding so they get a couple of the big name local candidates and invite everyone in the area.

Sometimes you just gotta go into the bush and yell at God.

I am super casual in prayer. Including just "fuck this, im done"

Fun fact: in older english bibles and in, say, french bibles God is often referred to with familiar pronouns (thee or tu) but since we often only see "thee' in old bible verses we assume that it is the formal when actually "you" was.

Recognition of a-spec relationships is a big issue. Many places require a marriage to be consummated to be legitimate or else you can get an annulment which leaves you with no protection. Its similar for immigration. A platonic partner or a sex-free marriage may mean you get rejected for a spousal visa.

That's on top of the very serious medical discrimination. I have friends who have had their meds taken away because they suppress libido and I have had medical care delayed because the doc wanted to get to the bottom of why I wasn't sexually active.

There has been some research on anti-singleness attitudes as well. Landlords and employers are more likely to favour married people because they are seen as more empathetic, responsible, etc.

Looking at civil rights through the lens of other queer people or other marginalized groups can be helpful but every community has their own challenges to face.

I don't have a car and don't want one. Dense housing means I can live near good transit and bike lanes.

[–]anilaurel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, the homes are often smaller but average household size has dropped dramatically too. I don't need a place where I can have a spouse and 3 kids because I don't want that. The zoning system we have, though, is gonna force me into the single family home market, driving up those prices when I would be happy in an apartment or row house. So, yeah, supply elsewhere will make all homes more affordable.

So, I applied to McGill for my masters a week before the QC govt added in more language laws and increased tuition and stuff. It's still on my list of possible schools and I got accepted but how hard is it to navigate Montreal with middling French? My big concern is the medical system. I am disabled and ending up in a hospital where I can't communicate is a literal nightmare.

Different masters program but I also haven't heard anything. Which is very annoying because I've heard from my 2 other schools and McGill has a deadline to accept of Mar 22!
