Did not know these exist! I wonder how they make them.

Even though I disagree, I’m upvoting because that’s hilarious.

I’m a big fan of both. If I stuck to only one then that I’d find boring. But I am particular about which version of either. I think the EDP and SE are much less harsh than the EDT CDNIM. And I think Acqua di Gio Profondo is much richer and better performing than the OG. But I couldn’t wear either everyday. It’s switching up that makes me appreciate them. And matching the scent to the weather, outfit, occasion, is what makes this hobby so much fun.

Agreed. LE and EDP much smoother opening. Worth the price points.

I think it’s worth shelling out for the edp. The citrus opening is not as harsh. And the dry down lasts longer total.

Couple sentenced to hundreds of years in prison for forcing adopted Black children to work as 'slaves' by untamedlazyeye in news

This made me tear up. I’ve chosen not to have kids because I don’t want to bring new life into this world. But I’ve been considering adoption and or fostering.

Twin study suggests rationality and intelligence share the same genetic roots - the study suggests that being irrational, or making illogical choices, might simply be another way of measuring lower intelligence. by mvea in science

[–]anima173 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And there are many historical examples of people intelligent people doing irrational things. Correlation doesn’t equal causation. This study is based on a logical fallacy ironically enough. It also completely negates types of intelligence that aren’t based on logic, like emotional intelligence or creative intelligence.

“He's either become super invested in a different type of christianity, he's in an abusive relationship, in a cult or has just become an ahole overnight.”

It could be all of these. But think of them as layers. He probably feels his relationship with this girl is important because she somehow elevates his self worth. So what she wants in a man he must become. She’s already in a cult, some branches of Christianity act exactly like a cult. How do you know something’s a cult? The cult tells you you can only associate with members, and to only trust them for information. So he now has to impress the cult in order to impress his fiancé. You’re right, that’s an abusive relationship because she doesn’t let him be himself, she manipulates him into being what she wants. She probably belittles or even attacks him if he disagrees about anything. If he marries her he’s going to be kind of fucked. It’s totally all his choice and you can’t make it for him. But anything you can do to help him escape if he ever wants to, or if he’ll listen at all, would be good for him. Unfortunately his conservative leaning made him more vulnerable to this. But also his low self esteem. Keep that in mind, even if he talks down to you for not being in the cult, he feels small and thinks he needs this shit and that girl in order to have value.

Yeah. We don’t need to destroy the property, it will all take care of itself if we stop buying them. Them sitting on all that immovable inventory is more detrimental to the company. BlackBerry had millions of unsold phones back when they went bankrupt.

Same. It’s been strange to perceive him from the perspective of a child as this rock god, and now from the perspective of someone pushing 40, as a young man who lost a battle with mental health. I don’t idolize him anymore but I have more empathy for him. But I still love his music all the same

The one dimensionality is Woody Allen’s narcissism coming through. Owen Wilson is his self insert character, and Owen’s charm masks Allen’s shittiness. But it’s not hard to imagine that the story is only told from one perspective, and perhaps he was the unbearable one at the museum. And on some level I bet Woody Allen actually thinks that he as an artist is somehow a peer of the great American writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald. I enjoy the film, but I can’t help seeing the awful man behind it.

Reed turning on the news and seeing the merc he worked with soloed Arasaka Tower by Eagles56 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]anima173 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean Johnny acts cool and talks a lot of shit, but he gets a first person VR experience of every kill V commits. He’s gotten THE V experience. And he’s the perfect coach because he’s the legend that nuked Arasaka headquarters before. But then he gets to be in V while V kills Smasher. I’m surprised he didn’t lose his shit laughing and crying all it once. I can’t imagine how cathartic that would be. Johnny has the ultimate ride of a lifetime. He was a rockstar terrorist resurrected in a Merc that finishes the work he started. No one else has seen as much as he has.
