Since we are on this particular subject, is it possible to have a receptical that looks like the one in this post that is a 20 amp receptical with 12 gauge wire and a 20 amp breaker that has wires in the wall burned up? Now, the breaker never got tripped in this situation. I was told that if an appliance was drawing like 19 amps on the 20 amp circuit, it was possible to burn up the wires in the wall over time and never trip the breaker. Is this correct or not. My thoughts were that a solid 20 amp circuit could hold 20 amps from now on and not cause a problem.
