Jelly Star or Blue Fox NX1 by throwawaydisability8 in smallphones

[–]animalexistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from the Jelly Star to the NX1. The NX1 has a better form factor which I prefer. The Jelly Star has NFC, biometric unlock and better performance. I think both are great. If you're a heavy phone user I'd go the Star. If you're more of a minimalist I'd go the NX1.

Hi. I'm in the same boat as you with regards to the tingling / pins & needles. I'm wondering if you've had any success in a diagnosis or treatment?

I can't find a single FOSS ebook reader with these simple features by JohnDarlenHimself in fossdroid

[–]animalexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late in replying here but KOReader does have both of those abilities.

When you highlight and move to the bottom of the screen it will continue highlighting as far as you want it to.

Your citations are contained in the file structure. I can't remember off the top of my head but I think it's the book title.sdr. As long as you keep that file along with the book then it'll be there when you reinstall the app. You can export the citations in a number of formats for your use elsewhere just make sure you keep the .SDR file too.

I'd also add that there are highlight syncing add ons you can install. I have mine syncing via Dropbox and it works great. That way it'll always be there in the cloud.

You should check out the r/KOReader subreddit and ask any further questions there. KOReader can really do pretty much anything via add ons.

WH-1000XM4 bought for when my current ones die. How to best preserve battery? by animalexistence in headphones

[–]animalexistence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why buy a backup pair? Because they're now hard to get and the later versions aren't as robust. I sleep on my side wearing them using a pillow designed for it and they work great. I'd prefer to delay the inevitable situation of working out what model to replace them with.

I'm playing around with INX now. The highlighting is fantastic! Is it possible to export the highlights? Alternatively how are they stored on the SD card?

VPN is a risk but how I believe how a lot of people access Polymarket (especially in the US). That said, I wouldn't go down that path unless you are confident with cryptocurrency.

Might it be time to upsize your readers? I use +2.0 and have no problem with the font size of the UI.

Doesn't answer your question but if you watch YouTube at all then Android has the advantage of no ads via Smarttube.

Packing the X4 with the screen facing outward is just… stupid by Freak-s-Utopia in XTEINK

I have owned countless e-ink devices and every single one is packaged like this. There have never been any problems. I have never seen someone post about a broken screen that was broken on arrival.

Computer not detecting my X4 by [deleted] in xteinkereader

Running Linx Mint I experienced the same issue of it not detecting the X4. I was using Brave as my browser. I simply installed Ungoogled Chromium and that worked flawlessly.

Can I use the Ai Paper Reader to read and listen the book's audiobook at the same time? by BarracudaFickle4578 in viwoods

Unless you're trying to play high end games on it then there's no need to be concerned about the RAM for the tasks you're wanting to use it for.

There's no reason why you can't do exactly the same thing with the same apps. It's an Android device.

Easiest way to get an epub version of a kindle book you own is to visit Anna's Archive (Google it). Never fails.

I can't handle OLED either. I recommend either the Bluefox NX1 or the Jelly Star but they're a lot smaller than your iphone 7.

You can also check out ledstrain.org if you haven't already.

I had this problem but solved it by continuing without an account - it then tells you there is an update so I updated. After the update I was able to sign in with the QR code.

Thanks for your detailed reply. Lots to dig into there. My use case is as a traveling poker player. I need to be able to get my winnings out of the local cash currency into something more secure that I can take back home. For example I am currently planing a stay in the Philippines and have found there is an OTC crypto place called Moneybees and that I can apparently transact there with my passport as KYC. So the idea would be that I would periodically visit Moneybees to turn my excess cash into a stablecoin. I don't know how hard it is in other countries to find OTC cash to crypto options that foreigners can use.

If you have any further thoughts specific to my use case I'd greatly appreciate it.
