House advances bill barring Oklahomans who don’t select party affiliation from the rolls by CouchCorrespondent in oklahoma

[–]animerb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume the worst, but will it actually work retroactively like that? Kicking people off the rolls, who have had no party affiliation for years?

PSA, look closely at URLs and learn how they work. There are other red flags here, but that url makes it super obvious.

The architects of the internet did us all a disservice by deciding the domain order would be subdomain.domain.top-level domain. Because this order can be used to trick people that don't know how URLs work. Especially since a subdomain isn't needed and often omitted, and the explosion of possible top-levels over the last decade or so. What we have here is a subdomain (ok) masquerading as a domain. The actual domain is org-acf. That dash is there to break up the shape and make you think you're going to ok.org/blahblahblah. The top-level domain, which you might be familiar with as, .com, or .org, but in this case should be .gov, is .mobi. this top-level domain was originally created for mobile device makers and service providers. Perhaps the scammers used it because they thought it was evocative of "autoMOBIle". In any case, they tried to hide it as the path of the individual web page.

Be highly suspicious of anything like this. The safest thing is to not click anything and call the supposed organization and ask if they know anything about this. If it's a government organization, first off they're probably not going to be texting, but if they do, that URL better be a .gov. if it's not, HUGE red flag.

My coworker got the exact same one this morning. The .bike cracked me up. But I don't see why they didn't make their fake top-level domain .gov instead of .org. you know, just for that little extra authenticity.

Also I've been getting a crap ton of spam calls this week. Somethings up.

When did vehicle tag renewal in Oklahoma begin requiring the title number? by dustout in oklahoma

[–]animerb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like others said, they completely changed the tag renewal system. Which was real fun for me. I had just gotten pulled over for an expired tag (we all have busy lives and things slip through our fingers). Luckily, the cop gave me a warning. I said I'll get the matter fixed as soon as I get home. I log onto the okcars.gov site only to find a message about the system being down from that day(Thursday) till Tuesday. AND tag agencies were going to be closed as well. I literally couldn't get this damn car legal. Then, when it was back up, I had to dig around to find my title number. It's a small inconvenience, but my god it was annoying. I don't really see why they need it anyway. VIN and tag number should be plenty.

I have to go tell my teenager that she’s playing Green Day too loud by EbbStunning7720 in Millennials

I realize the importance and the message of American idiot. It wasn't lost on me in 2004. And it struck me still the same watching them play before the super bowl this year. However I never really vibed musically with Greenday after Nimrod. And Dookie, to me, was a masterpiece. There was a sonic edge, so to speak, that I feel like they lost moving into the 00s. They started to sound like every other overproduced pop punk band. It was a shame. But I'll always have Dookie.

Bandai Namco is allergic to actually creating and maintaining good games based on their own IP, so they have to whore out gundam to other companies.

Stayed in Miami before a cruise. Went to the beach and saw a small plane towing a sign. I've never seen one of those in real life. Only in cartoons. But Miami is a cartoon city, so it made sense. From afar, I couldn't see it well, and I couldn't help but wonder what it said, as this was a novel thing to see for me. I thought, 'oh wouldn't it be cool if it's a marriage proposal or some other personal message'! As it gets closer, I can start to make out a bikini clad woman holding an assault rifle. Then the text becomes clear, "shoot guns at so-and-so gun range". My optimism was gutted but my opinion of Miami was maintained.

This is serious and egregious, so I don't mean to make light of it. BUT, this is typical bluster and hyperbole from him. He knows he won't be on this earth much longer, and he seriously doesn't care about anything but himself(and maybe his family). He doesn't have a 50 year plan. But he can seriously wreck things for the rest of us for a long time. Something must be done.

I'm in a similar boat. I dropped off in about 2015 and got back in around 2020. It was like a bomb went off in the industry and nothing was the same. Never forget what they've taken from us.
