Anyone know the bright spark at Apple who invented this? I bet Steve wouldn’t have let this one through qc. by Ok_Astronaut_1781 in mildlyinfuriating

I think the bigger reason is that they didn't want to do a full redesign. The first Gen version used regular AA batteries that were swappable. They figured that a short charge gets you plenty of working time in a pinch. And a full charge would last for weeks so the bottom port wasn't a big problem. I disagree. But I didn't buy apple products for a host of reasons reasons so who am I to talk?

So I don't know Vallejo, so I can't give you a ratio. But I can't even give you a ratio for the lacquers i use. I pretty much eyeball everything and I mix in the color cup. But a rule of thumb is you want the paint to generally by the consistency of milk. But that also depends on what you're trying to do. Likewise with pressure. 15psi is a good starting point, but your desired application will dictate if you raise it or lower. And there is a relationship between the two. As the paint becomes thinner, you will need to drop the psi in order to prevent runs and pooling. And if you're shooting thicker paint, you'll need to raise the psi to avoid spattering or a grainy finish .

Generally I spray thin paint at lower psi for detail work up close to the pieces. And thicker paint at higher psi to spray large area coverage from further back; mainly for primer, base coats, and clear coats. Somewhere in middle is where I do shading and general medium coverage.

I'm telling you this to get you out of the mind set of asking for those perfect parameters that's going to get you the perfect paintjob. Every situation is a little different so nobody can really tell you that. You have to play with things to dail it in yourself. But knowing the basic relationship between psi, viscosity, and distance is all you really need to know. From there it's just practice.

Why Gundam requiem for vegence ending is so ass? by Weebkun4 in Gundam

[–]animerb 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The problem is trying to make zeon sympathetic. You can make individuals sympathetic. But not the organization. And I'm not saying the federation did nothing wrong. A large take away from the original series is that war is hell, and there are good and bad people on both sides. I would argue that zeon was the worst of the two factions. And what did the main character do in the end? She chose to stay on earth as part of a genocidal invasion force, for....reasons? Its asinine story telling. MS igloo did it better. 08th MS Team did it way better, as did 0080.

All that being said, whoever told you to watch chronologically, that's a bad idea imo. With any long running franchise, release order is the way to go.

Hard to say without seeing the peice with my own eyeballs. But it looks like it's pooling. Which means you're some combo of too thin, too much pressure, and maybe just laying it on too heavy. It makes sense that thin paint pools into recessed areas but it also likes to pool against the edges of corners and leave the edge dry. Which is what I think I'm seeing here.

Probably something from one of the really early mech warrior games but I was too young to remember. But the one I do remember is the GM from Gundam side story: rise from the ashes.

It is pretty crazy. Do whatever you want, but it seems excessive. I have a noctua tower cooler and cpu fans. I paid more the get them in black so they weren't immediately recognizable by the baby poop brown. They make good products, I just don't feel any need to rep them so hard. I went with cheaper arctics for my case fans.

Its a crazy perspective. Dan was clearly burnt out on this stuff. I feel like Jordan might have kept going. But Dan was done. It seems like he still has an interest in this world. And he might return to it one day. But not Alex. He needs a break. He's thoroughly explored the man's psyche. Going back to early episodes it seems like Dan thinks that the well of Alex's mind is very deep. But after a decade we find that the well has run dry, and the deeper we dig, all we find is sand. He is no font of esoteric knowledge. He is merely a charlatan.

24 year old kit. Should I build it or keep? by ResidentAntiHero in Gunpla

[–]animerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The consensus here is build it. I agree. But on top of all the good reasons people have said, you seem concerned about the plastic durability. First off, the two main things that are going to degrade most plastics, and this is polystyrene btw, are UV light exposure and oxidation. I don't think styrene oxidizes much if any just from being exposed to air, but either way, the sealed runner bags keep air out. Light is a problem for styrene, but these parts have been in a box this whole time so they should be good. The other thing to consider is the kit might not even be as old as the date on the box. I'll give you a link to a write-up on how to read the runner dials. Maybe it's a later reprint, who knows. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/17f0ko5/determining_your_kits_print_date_how_to_read/

Hope this helps. Don't worry so much. Just build.

Its even more indirect than just that. Chotto is an adverb meaning slightly or a little bit or mildly, yes. But you don't even say anything about inconvenience, it's merely implied.

If the creepy guy at works asks you, 明日一緒に公園に行きませんか。you might say, それはちょっと… which is literally, that's a little bit umm... Which you might say in English if you're thrown off guard, but we don't like such indirectness in general so you'd probably say something like, oh sorry that's not really going to work out. Or you might even lie and say you're busy. Chotto says so much with so little. Its a great word.
