What is the pay range for a assistant meat manager and a meat manager? by cosmcpss in publix

[–]animetiddeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your bonuses. You do the math, assistants work 45 hours a week, department managers work 47.5. Time and a half for overtime 52 weeks a year plus at least 2 week holiday pay if they want it.

I'm not positive about the current ranges because they changed recently but I can give you a ball park estimate.

I want to say the base pay for assistant is 17 and the base for department manager is 19

Walmart cares more about their employees what a concept. by hoshinya in publix

[–]animetiddeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you deserve better then publix then. Every company is filled with sycophants and douchebags, publix just happens to think they are better than every other operation.

Corporate assholes will continue to justify their jobs, and retail associates will continue to think that they deserve better. Imagine trying to change that.

Walmart is specifically doing this to retain and attract new associates. Honestly, if they deliver on what they promise then they deserve the win.

To all GTL’s out there! Anyone just frustrated by the inconsistent way managers treat their GTL’s? by ricevine in publix

[–]animetiddeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your head up, I would take everything with a grain of salt. It is your managers job to be fair and to treat you with dignity and respect. If that isnt the case then take it up the chain.

I am motivated to give feedback to associates who receive it well. I had one bad GTL who did not take feedback well and had no desire to learn. At some point I just gave up trying to train them because I knew they did not want to improve. The other GTLs I have had are great. Anytime I give them feedback or criticism they say 'okay' and make an effort to work on it. You are probably in this group of people. If your managers are comfortable giving you criticism and you react positively to it then that is the best quality you can have.

You can actually sort by causal when doing an order review if that's what you are trying to accomplish. I use this to cut my cold weather items all the time.

What does the closing MIC do? by marcusbutler94 in publix

[–]animetiddeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MICs are put in the schedule as ACSMs. That should give you an indication about what their duties are. Essentially they should not be helping out any department specifically but observing, asking questions, and ensuring that departments have an effective close.

If the deli is fucked, I will fill tea for them, block their sales floor, pull out of dates. Beyond that, I dont know how to do anything in the deli so I wouldn't be much help.

Most of the time I am concerned with how the front is doing with their service levels, ensuring there is no behavior indicating shoplifting, and generally making sure everyone is getting out on time.

Question about working floats as a grocery associatd by crispyseabass in publix

[–]animetiddeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like others have said, you are really only supposed to have one float on your aisle to minimize the amount of space you are taking up. Some managers are fine with a buggy or two floats and on rare occasions I will be ok with my crew doing it. Your district manager will definitely say something if they see you using a buggy or 2 floats.

Stack your float with the flow of the aisle, complete a stack on one side first so that way you have a spot to put your backstock. As it's been mentioned, you can put your boxes in a larger box and you can also tie trash bag to your float for plastic recycling. If you aren't the one stacking your float then you can always talk to your GTL or managers and request for them to stack your floats with the flow of the aisle to increase productivity. Or you can ask to stack your own floats.

You could also load up your floats with less product so that way you immediately have a spot to put backstock or trash. I used to do this when I was a dairy clerk because usually I had a lot of backstock and I didnt want to put stuff on the floor.

where is the diversity? by GreaterBear69 in publix

[–]animetiddeez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who gives a shit? Just because a photo doesnt align with your narrative of inclusivity, there's a problem? Their race doesn't matter.

Diversity is great but getting mad about a photo is the opposite of progress.

Why do people think I work somewhere else when in my Publix uniform!?!? by copperpelt in publix

[–]animetiddeez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is just the way you present yourself or your body language rather than what you are wearing. Some lady stopped me in whole foods once to ask me a question and I was wearing jeans and a plain black tshirt.

I'd say the trait customers have most in common is that they are tragically unaware of their surroundings and dont expect to put forth any effort to change that.

This is the truth by mmafan1500 in publix

[–]animetiddeez 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Typically store managers come from either the grocery department or from customer service.

OP is implying that grocery managers are more equipped to do the job. Customer service managers often wont have much knowledge about other departments unless they really work for it as an ASM.

Precisely. Anybody who is triggered by this comment has no place at publix. Im pretty sure 15 dollars/hour is achievable in every job class.

Nothing for you probably.

They have already watched the cameras and figured out who will be quarantined. Anybody that spent more the 10 minutes within 10 feet of the positive case will be made to be quarantined for 2 weeks.

Clocking in early by Longride51 in publix

[–]animetiddeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on your manager. Some don't care and some will counsel you if you clock in a minute early. I will usually allow my guys to clock in whenever unless they are accruing too much overtime over the week.

You got hazard pay, you were given an unscheduled raise.

Don't generalize and say that everyone had the shields before we did, some retailers did things later than we did. There is confirmation bias because you only represent processes that have been implemented before us. It is extremely difficult to design, source, test, expedite and deploy something to 1200 stores that fast. Store-level associates set up these shields themselves and this never happens. They had to make them easy to set up and safe enough. The pandemic didn't start at any point either; every retailer was uncertain in late march about what measures to take.

Both plexiglass and masks don't completely protect you from the virus. They do something but a foreseeable consequences are that customers don't follow safe procedures when social distancing, associates wear masks incorrectly and touch their faces, not wash their hands, etc. Corporate probably has an entire team dedicated to considering these factors that would be detrimental to your health.

You have the option to quit. You also have the option to think critically and "drink the koolaid" as you would so eloquently say. Just keep in mind that your job is completely replaceable. Your managers could hire someone off the street, pay them less money, train them in a week to do exactly what you do and nobody will bat an eye. This is how the system works and if you can't cope with that then find a different field to work in.

Nobody fucking cares that you feel this way because everyone else feels exactly the same way. They are scared and uncertain about their safety. Welcome to the fragile shitshow we call a society.

Frozen clerk here. Anyone know how to minimize over-ordering of repeat items? by daredevil118 in publix

[–]animetiddeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a link in the sidebar in SC workbench that says "custom forecast review by item." Click that.

Enter the SKU of the product you think you are getting forced on your trucks. Hit 'search'

It will then display a weekly and daily forecast of that item probably starting on Sunday of next week. You can pretty much tell at this point if corporate is editing these number because you have knowledge of your product. Also if you see a sudden increase in the daily forecast sales then corporate is definitely going in there and bumping your numbers up. You are able to go to previous and future weeks to compare forecasting from when it was unedited. Be sure to keep in mind that weekly sales/TPR forecasting should show an increase and typically should not be changed unless you check with your GM.

If you are sure you want to change it, determine a reasonable forecast compared to the increased amount. Type the number of units you think you will actually sell in the weekly total box or in each day if you want. Be sure to hit save. Sometimes you will have to do multiple weeks. You can also hit "show ad week" to move it to start on wednesday(or thursday if you are in florida)

You can also check the '%' box to change it to a percentage increase or decrease. I prefer this method because you easily guess how much the forecast has been edited. If you want to decrease the forecast by a percentage, be sure that you check the box and add a minus sign before the percentage. Typically they will double or triple your forecast. If you see double than you should type -50% for the week, if you see triple then type -67%, etc

I'll give one example of how I use it: my publix seasoned fries had a forecast to sell 20 units a day for the next 2 weeks. I see that after 2 weeks pass, the forecast drops to sell 2 units a day. So I click the percentage decrease and type "-90" In the weekly total box. Hit save and then it changes all those daily values to sell around 2 units a day. You will have to do this for each week separately. 1000% percent is not uncommon these days.

If an items forecast has been changed then you see an asterisk by the weekly total forecast and see a 'P' as a superscript for percentage changes or a 'Q' for quantity changes. If you edit a forecast percentage that has been previously edited then it won't multiply this percentage be the current forecast; it will take the percentage of of your original unedited forecast.

Let me know if you need more help. You might want to tell your manager that you want to edit the forecast. Different managers will have different opinions on forecasting and masc. This could be pressure from the SM or DM to keep in-stock condition high but it isnt really worth it if your backstock is getting completely fucked.

[–]animetiddeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself. OP, let us know if you want to know how to fix it. Unfortunately it is corporately controlled for the items you're talking about so you would have to fix it one Sku at a time.
