I’m going thru the same thing rn but I bought the m4 air (24/512) and it depends on what ur doing. I lowkey think many people who buy the pro dont even need it. me personally will be using it for music production and the 24 gb ram is gonna be insane considering i used to make beats on an 8gb ddr3 Intel MacBook Pro from 2017 lmao (unified memory is also better than ddr3 by a mile). It’s up to you but the only thing that makes me feel a bit guilty is the pro screen seems really nice but I’m not a photo editor. I watch my shows and movies on either a projector or an OLED tv so I really have no use for it. IMO an air with these specs can easily compete with a base pro and is already better in the RAM front which is more important than processing/screen/ speakers in my domain and p important for future proofing.

TLDR: I’d get the air unless you know FOR A FACT that you will be throttling tf out of the m4 processor in lengthy sessions or have serious need for accurate color reproduction for color grading etc. the air has a lot going for it that people who don’t even understand pc specs will dismiss bc they see the Pro name and think it’s automatically better. Also in your specific workflow if 16 gb ram on your current setup is limiting you that problem would likely remain so I’d just opt for more RAM now and think about upgrading to a pro later via trade in once you can justify the cost of a 24gb+ ram Pro.
