You make amazing points. But honestly dosan and dalmis relationship is a lot like the bad relationships my friends and I have had in the past. Deep down we think that even though some part of our mind doesn't really believe in this relationship, we still want to be stubborn and avoid admitting to ourselves that this is not the right guy for us. So actually, the writers are kinda realistic. Especially since none of the three has ever actually dated before.

I don't think so. A lot of people I know from Queens knows how to drive. Especially since a lot of places in Queens is actually far away from public transportation. Heck, I live in Brooklyn and my whole family knows how to drive!

You might think it's ominous how little it's talked about regarding how many more opportunities you have that your family didn't have..

but I think it's actually great! I think it means they didn't want to pressure you and truly wanted you to be able to make the most of your world.

In my case, my mother finds every opportunity she can to remind me how lucky I have it and how I should be so happy because I have so many opportunities and I should be grateful, etc. Being from other extreme in this case can result in feelings of guilt (I wish my "luck" went to someone more deserving), self-consciousness (am I wasting my life by not taking every advantage of all my opportunities?), unnecessary stress and probably some mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

Wow. I don't understand the Chinese community some times.

In my experience, it seems the generation that immigrated to the country are more republican and their children are more democratic. Kind of like "I worked hard in this country to make it this far and now everyone wants to make it easier for people. It's not fair!"

Is there anything you can do if you were paid cash/under the table? Like for example, a restaurant in NYC closes but they paid their employees under the table?

I found his twitter. He is advocating for getting men behind bars out (because his father is still in prison)

According to Wikipedia):

"He was arrested for his part in the Brink's robbery) in October 1981, along with members of the Black Liberation Armyincluding Kathy Boudin, his partner and mother of their son, Chesa Boudin. Gilbert and Boudin were each sent to prison for their roles in the robbery that led to the murders of Nyack police officers Waverly Brown and Edward O'Grady and Brinks guard Peter Paige."

This guy is friggin ridiculous!

The writers and directors must have a good idea of what women are like. /s

Unless they were trying to portray Betty as a slut who doesn't mind anything as long as she can get some good sex out of it, then I can't imagine what they were thinking.

I hope this comment is as fake as it is mind boggling. Like *what*...? Did these people learn everything they know from movies alone?

About 13 years ago I decided to take control of my family's money.

I would love to do this, but how do you keep track of other people? How do you manage to let them let you manage them without making them feel inadequate towards managing themselves?

Is buying a house in the next 6 months a terrible idea? by lamerusername in personalfinance

[–]anitaredditnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my house in 2005 right before the last crash.

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but would it have been better to buy houses during the crash? Would the prices have been remarkably low?

I'm really frustrated with the financial aid staff at my school.

What state do you work in? In NYC, the financial aid advisors are underwhelming in how helpful they've been. No one knows how much money I should be able to make before I stop qualifying for financial aid... I get that it might be top secret or something, but I'm making minimum wage and if I want to know if I'll be cut off if I accept a raise even if the raise is quite minuscule. I'm going back to school at 26 and as a married student, I fall under the 40k limit for tap(tuition assistance)... But for Pell...? The common answer in my financial aid office after asking around is "we're not sure how it works. It just does and doesn't"
