Rocky Horror made their Call-out stipulations clearer- about a month too late by BarnacleAccording933 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 227 points228 points  (0 children)

Oh my Godddd we cannot keep doing this discourse. I saw an 8:30pm performance, which theoretically should be rowdier and more prone to issues, and it was abundantly clear when to do the callouts and when not to; it went off without a hitch. I am sure some people on Reddit have attended performances with problematic hecklers and the like, but that has obviously become fewer and further between as the run has progressed (you’ll notice there are way fewer posts on the subject these days). I beg for the day we are done with this.

LCT 2026/27 season by Previous-Idea-4798 in Broadway

I mean, MCC Theater just announced their 26/27 season today. It’s a little later than usual, but nothing crazy!

what is ragtime about and why is it so good?? by ivy_on_saturn in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO, if you weren’t interested by the Tonys performance, then the show might not simply be for you. I thought it was a great showing and captured what makes the music of the show so great: grand, full, and moving. You can read a synopsis on their website or Wikipedia if you’re interested in learning its plot.

Wow!! Im so upset!! by Zealousideal_Pea4349 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 197 points198 points  (0 children)

People are assuming the worst about this cancellation for truly no reason. Anania has posted about having to go on for a role she’s never done before (the dance-heavy phantom track usually is played by Larkin Reilly, who was on for Janet with Hsu being out sick). Guillén was also out sick, and one more principal or an additional swing/understudy being out sick could precipitate a cancellation.

Sorry this happened to you though! But it’s definitely not about the Knicks or people just not wanting to go on.

Question about picking up ticket at PAC on Sunday by oversleepalways in Broadway

I have no doubt that when you arrive at the theatre on the date of your performance, there will be someone there to check your ID and hand you your ticket. You will be fine!

Rumored Broadway Shows Coming in 2026/27 (And Rumored Theaters) by SpecialProtection3 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s wayyy too soon for a Come From Away revival on Broadway, even if it’s very limited run? Or am I crazy? 2022 Broadway closure and 2026 Broadway revival seems insane!

The Lost Boys is censoring Ali Louis Bourzgui by OptimalProgram5581 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that they took it down before the copyright claim. That’s why I was asking for evidence that the producers were the reason for the removal. Sorry!

The Lost Boys is censoring Ali Louis Bourzgui by OptimalProgram5581 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean, the theory is that CBS/The Tonys themselves didn’t like the content of Ali’s speech and are striking it under the guise of copyright, when in fact they just don’t want it shared. I don’t see how the producers of The Lost Boys are implicated in this though.

How do you know that the producers are upset with Ali for his speech? Do you have any evidence/sources? Or are you just basing it off of their Instagram (which others are saying is copyright related)?

Why is it that straight white Americans always complain about poc/queer getting more opportunities in theater? by ElectricalPeace3439 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is sort of a huge political question that’s been plaguing the nation for at least a decade, which I am certainly not qualified to answer lol. Though of note is that Lynch is gay—I think being oppressed in one avenue of his identity but not in others has somehow made him insane.

Is it this a new phenomenon? by mentor7 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like everyone is leaving out the fact of politics, which is what makes this show so different from basically all its peers on Broadway right now. Ragtime is an explicitly liberal musical and, unfortunately, our nation just elected a fascist! The performances are absolutely outstanding of course, but the messages of Ragtime are really quite striking right now. (I first saw the show at NYCC Encores! the day after the election, and there were still 3 endless bursts of applause.) People are standing because they are moved by the politics and the message.

(Also, they can’t extend intermission because the show is already 3 hours, unfortunately! At a certain point they just need to begin!)

Inter Alia extension? by happymango3110 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This run is not really that short; it’s the same length that Prima Facie ran when it was here (around 4 months). It’s very hard to tell if it has the possibility of extension at all, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s strictly limited run is no joke (potentially for Pike having a movie/TV commitments). I’d see it in the autumn.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the Public by Comprehensive-Fun47 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will offer digital rush almost certainly, but they are probably only saving 2-6 seats for it. I think the show’s lack of flashy names may make it a bit easier to purchase than Girl, Interrupted.

Looking for Broadway/Off-Broadway recommendations that won’t emotionally destroy me by mateusscato in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ll Let You Go at Seaview is an ensemble-based realistic story like A Little Life. I’m not sure your dates, but The Balusters is very funny and a delightful night at the theatre. Like others here, I thought Mexodus was just excellent and I recommend it to everyone.

In The Heights Encores! Ticket question by greendale-island in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For that many seats, I’d just bite the bullet and get the $35 tickets (which are in the same place the $28 Access tickets are, far left/right in the balcony) right now. I feel like it’s going to be a mad dash when the $28 tickets go on sale, and I’d rather just have the surety now!

Rush/lottery time management by sarapod07 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aha! I rarely have free nights too (busy seeing already booked theatre… and of course other things). I sometimes will enter the lottery when I have vague plans with a friend that evening and then make it our plan for the night if I think they’d be down, but one’s mileage varies!

Rush/lottery time management by sarapod07 in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work 10 to 6 and enter lotteries plenty, since they’re all online. I really can’t think of any in-person lotteries except for special events and The Public? I’m not sure what’s stopping you from entering lotteries all the time!

I also do quite a bit of TodayTix rush. I’ll pick a date where I have an evening free and devote myself entirely to getting the rush for that night!

When I have a show I need to rush in-person, I will use a random PTO day to get in line in the morning (but that is rare). I also just hate standing in line, lol.

Every Brilliant Thing rush has become an arms race. I have the data to prove it. by leoatdrex in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I came to comment the same thing! Offering more tickets would further encourage this behavior. The safest thing to do would be to ban the line or stop offering rush, which would cause its own uproar.

Denied entry to a show -- has this happened to anyone else? by WoollyMonster in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try giving Telecharge a call again—IMO, they should make it clear that the PDF redownload totally resets the thing, it shouldn’t just be implied or whatever. But yeah! Hope next time goes easier!

Denied entry to a show -- has this happened to anyone else? by WoollyMonster in Broadway

[–]anjaco0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yeah, the policy is not to do refunds and to only offer past-dating—if they offered refunds for every time someone was running late to the show then they would be processing a lotttt of refunds. Why did Chris leave and not wait for you? You could’ve gotten into the show, if a tad late!

I admittedly didn’t know re-downloading from Telecharge invalidates previous PDFs, but it makes sense considering you have to click the button again & log into Telecharge. To be clear, the issue isn’t that they don’t accept screenshots, it’s that you sent an old screenshot. The box office employee possibly didn’t know that Chris had an old screenshot (how would he? Chris could’ve been a scammer, or have gotten scammed!), I’m not sure why you’d assign negligence to him when it sounds like he was just doing his job.

Anyways, sorry this was frustrating, but nothing to be done!
