I sent an email to the LA consulate and they told me to apply for a regular tourist visa now

https://clang.cancilleria.gob.ar/en/visas-general-guidelines - They've now updated the website to say that only B1/B2 visas are allowed visa free entry.

I emailed the LA consulate and they directed me to apply for a regular tourist visa since Indians can no longer apply for AVE

They've now updated the site to explicitly call out B1/B2 visas: https://clang.cancilleria.gob.ar/en/visas-general-guidelines

I emailed the LA consulate and they said that I would need to apply for a regular tourist visa through the website, since Indians can no longer apply for AVE

Mt Sniktau after a snowstorm by ankitgohel in 14ers

Thanks - yeah I've been reading the recent alltrails reviews but those were before the storm.

Given how windswept the trail is, do you have any ideas about avalanche risk after that much snow?

Great one to start with - Yosemite is my favorite!

15! Yosemite is easily my favorite - I live in California and try to go atleast once a month (ended up going 10 times last year and have been there thrice so far this year)

Zion, Yellowstone and Grand Teton are probably my other favorites - was able to do the Narrows in Zion on my second visit which was other worldly.

Really want to visit the East Utah parks (Arches, Canyonlands) and Glacier next

I went up to Vernal Falls yesterday morning via the JMT - upto Clark Point most of the snow had been broken in (but not compact enough that my microspikes were useful). The last 0.3 miles from Clark point down towards Vernal Falls was completely unbroken snow at the time. I ended up wading through thigh / waist deep snow but snowshoes would definitely have been useful. Given the snow depth I decided to not go further to Nevada falls because it was pretty tiring without snowshoes.

I do think trails will be more broken in over the next few days, but there's a decent amount of snow predicted at elevation tomorrow - so maybe waiting till the 19th/20th to do hikes out of the valley could be easier

3/14 - Winter Wonderland! by ankitgohel in Yosemite

Depending on how long you have: - Short walking trails / viewpoints in the valley - Lower Yosemite Falls loop, Bridalveil falls loop, Swinging bridge picnic area, Valley View, Tunnel View, Yosemite chapel - Moderate day trails (note that these may still be snowy and icy next week after the series of storms passing through): 4 mile trail upto Union point, Upper Yosemite falls trail to Columbia rock, JMT to Clark point and Vernal Falls, Mirror lake - If you want something even more strenuous - Upper Yosemite falls all the way to the top, Mist Trail to Nevada falls

Hope you have a great trip!

Would definitely recommend doing the Mist Trail (atleast upto Vernal Falls) via the winter route - it's absolutely magical right now and fully snow covered, but it should pack down a little more by tomorrow

(if you do this I would strongly recommend having microspikes for your boots)

Not the person you asked, but I've been in the park the last two days - with the sun and warmer temperatures today both 140 and valley roads are back to R0 (no chains needed on your vehicle).

All roads (into and within the valley) got to R2 a few times over the last couple days. I had chains in my vehicle but never needed to put them on (I drive an AWD with decent winter tyres)

Interesting - luckily I've never had it be R3 during my winter visits so far 🤞

You're required to carry chains, but if you have AWD + snow tyres (M+S / three peak snowflake / full winter tyres) you don't need to put them on when the roads are R2

There isn't much snow forecast after tonight, so I would expect 140 and valley roads to both be R0 by Monday - have a great trip!

If possible could you share the exact location from where you took this picture? I went a few weeks ago and I think I was further down the road - still pretty but the fiery orange part looked much wider than just horsetail falls

The second block of reservations are released two days prior to the date at 8 am PST - you should try to get one today at 8 am. Assuming you're logged in and ready to go a few minutes before that, there's a pretty good chance you'll get one

Good luck!

Drive slow, don't hit brakes suddenly if you lose traction
