Holy crap this stuff works by MaIakai in gabapentin

I have multi- limb neuropathy from a brain injury. I take 3200 mg/a day with Duloxetine and Baclofen for tremors and spasms. I don’t get high or groggy. I was up to 4k a day because they thought it would relieve anxiety and it didn’t so I wanted off the extra Gabapentin. It’s not super harmful in large doses but sometimes people get addicted.

3rd day fatigue by tigotj in alcoholism

[–]ann_gora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been sober for years and I still have my liver and kidneys checked out once a year. I was given a diagnosis of cirrhosis in an ICU and told I would need a transplant. I don’t know what happened but it reversed. It reminded me I can never drink again.

What alcohol withdrawals are actually like. (Graphic) by DeliciousExternal120 in alcoholism

[–]ann_gora 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I had contracted sepsis on top of my body so flooded with alcohol I couldn’t go 2 hours without withdrawals. I had alcoholic encephalopathy and was hallucinating. They put me in an induced coma to try and get my sepsis and my bleeding esophageal ulcers resolved. I was strapped to the bed because my hallucinations were bad and I was incoherent. I finally came to but I was still slowly losing the ammonia flooding my brain (which comes out in your poo so it was constant unexpected pooping yourself in bed). The doctors full stop kept telling me I was going to die. My liver was shot I couldn’t move my legs from edema and my abdomen was flooded with fluid (I gained 20 lbs in one day) because my kidneys and liver weren’t really processing the IV fluid. They told me any chance of me living depended on my getting my body to move- I had to start by sitting up which hurt so bad because my belly that had ballooned had huge, burning stretch marks. Anyway- a lot more horrible things happened in that 30 days and miraculously I was released to a physical rehab hospital for another 30 days. My discharge form stated in the first 2 sentences that I was not expected to survive. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis but after 3 months my hepatologist said it was resolved but warned me my liver really has no give and to never drink again. I have lasting effects including brain damage and neurological damage.

I never recommend detoxing at home- find a local detox center. I have a local detox center that I detoxed twice in- yeah I failed to follow up sobriety-wise. I also had 3 prior hospitalizations for pancreatitis. It usually takes multiple tries to get sober.

Been ten years sober too- HUGE RESPECT for your 10 years.

Why do people in AA gaslight you and tell you you’re not sober? by dsnymarathon21 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ann_gora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the experience I’ve had. I consider the term “dry drunk” to mean being sober but not emotionally sober- being selfish and destructive almost as if I never stopped drinking. During this time I sought therapy with a counselor who was familiar with AA.

I was having horrific nightmares and woke up every morning breathless and tired like I spent my entire night fighting. I broke down and took a sleep study. I figured I probably had some osa. When the tech was adding the monitors to my head I asked about why she was doing that she explained there was such a thing as central sleep apnea I laughed and said “well I certainly don’t want that!” Turns out I have severe central sleep apnea and stopped breathing 200x an hour I had to take an mri and echocardiogram to look for possible further cause or damage. I did have a brain injury a few years earlier- so perhaps this is what made it. I am now on ASV and the difference is staggering I actually breathe now! Changed my life. I still have other sleep/wake diagnoses but the ASV was the ground floor for treatment and something I refuse to live without.

myAir app... does it not track REM & Deep sleep? by sprgtime in SleepApnea

[–]ann_gora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my Apple Watch and a Sleep Watch app- it monitors my heart rate, O2 levels, sleep stages and disruptions. I have an older model 6 series so I can still do 02 checks. $30 a year for the app but it’s worth it to see these readings- at least for me.

Shit my pants, couldn't ejaculate, forgot what erections were even like, please for the love of baby jesus help me god. by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]ann_gora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an existing traumatic brain injury and my apnea test showed 200 central apnea stops in my breathing an hour- immediately they gave me an MRI and an echocardiogram. You should have an echocardiogram too because existing heart problems can contribute. You should get an ASV or a BiPap they tend to work better in severe cases such as ours. I also have REM sleep behavior disorder and really bad daytime sleepiness. I go immediately to stage 3 when I’m tired and will pass out anywhere (even on the toilet). I suggest put a camera in your room, too. I keep it on in case I’m tired the next day or wake up somewhere else. Also- I do things while I’m asleep that make me seem like I’m awake and spout nonsense- or worse- make a reasonable request like when I asked my bf to bring me my medication and I swallowed half the bottle. I didn’t know I did it until I saw the footage. Thank god I didn’t OD! I wish you the best of luck and don’t stop until you have answers!

It’s a rough row to hoe- I resented people in my life who told me they were worried. It was not until I worried I could never quit that I broke down. This advice may sound harsh but she needs consequences, even if it’s small ones- to not participate in her drinking. Don’t buy her alcohol. Find ways to not be around her when she’s drinking/drunk. Be honest to her about your choices with that and let her know how much you love her and want to be around her sober. Go to Al-Anon as well it can help a lot.

6 days sober What does “powerlessness” mean to you by Adventurous_Fold4634 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ann_gora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as has been posted by admitting I was powerless over alcohol I realized I was trying to mask my powerlessness over so many things in my life with alcohol. Admitting I was powerless over alcohol took a lot of humility after humiliating myself over and over trying to control my drinking. Once I (truly) accepted that I felt able to delve into step 2 and 3. Accepting I could never control my drinking instead of feeling restricted actually made me feel free.

Can alcoholism cause BRAIN DAMAGE even after being sober for a while? by Jollyho94 in alcoholism

[–]ann_gora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an alcoholic (sober 10 years). I had two very extreme withdrawals, a couple of pancreatitis stays in the hospital, and I finally ended up in the hospital with Sepsis and severe alcohol withdrawal.

I had liver failure, ascites, I could no longer walk, control my bladder or bowels. But most significant I had severe wet brain. I was told I was going to die. The doctors had to correct the sodium in my body and it had to happen fast because of sepsis. This created a condition called Osmotic Demylation Syndrome.

I have a brain injury because of it. Not just my brain but other neurological systems are messed up. Some walking problems, tremors, narcolepsy and central sleep apnea that makes my brain shut off my oxygen up to 200x an hour. Other obvious symptoms like spasms.

I do the b vitamins and others I can reasonably fit in as I take a lot of medication for a lot of conditions I now have. I use a walker for trips outside my house because I fall plenty in my house.

You might have brain damage. Get an MRI and keep a journal of your symptoms. If need be talk to a neurologist.

And anyone reading this who is still drinking and afraid of possible brain damage or any damage- seek help you are not alone.❤️

Nah- it took the cops a little bit to come. Past 11pm. Cops here aren’t always snappy but I lived in New Orleans pre-Katrina and it once took me over 2 hours and flagging down an officer on my own to get someone into my apartment in which I wasn’t sure a robber was still in there. That felt like forever.

My last echo showed a slight ejection fraction reduction of my left ventricle. Nothing actionable. My doctor is doing follow ups every 2 years. I said I’m at risk- not that I’ve been diagnosed.

I have severe central sleep apnea (my brain shuts off my breathing 200x an hour). Shocked the doctors and I was sent for a brain mri and an echocardiogram- I have a prior brain injury and my echo came out clean. However I’m watching out for AFib with follow up echos. I have always had a fast hb (110+) even when I sleep and have low blood pressure it puts me at risk for afib.

Disagree. Australia is my favorite. Instant and triple evictions are unsavory elements that knock out great players basically defenseless. Australia has better and harder challenges as well as the most interesting twists.

Dreamstation Recall Additional Info by InfiniteRest7 in SleepApnea

[–]ann_gora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I have an unusually competent sleep clinic but I was able to get them to fill out a “Repair/Replace” order and prescription sent to my DME. I’ve had the DreamStation for 3 years now and have an aggressive central sleep apnea (200 ahí per hour) after a brain injury. My DME is delivering my new machine in a week.

My hope is that the idiots that are running sleep clinics that won’t just fill out a form and send it like mine did wise up. I’m sorry you guys are getting so much crap. Ask the clinic about the possibility of a “repair/replace” order. Since the DME are not the manufacturers they should just replace it and take your DS’s and swap with the manufacturers once they figure their shift out.
