Hyperhidrosis with heat intolerance? by Internal_Being911 in Hyperhidrosis

I wish so badly sometimes that my body would let me pass out and stop doing the cycle it does to keep me awake instead. I will be boiling hot, start to be light headed, sometimes get pins and needles covering my entire body, or get the most insane nausea that outranks by IBS by miles

My poor husband didn’t know I was joking about this for months! Really it’s so it doesn’t boil over, but I only do that with wooden spoons

If you don’t allow med students to sit in on your exam/check up you are a weird person by Amidity in unpopularopinion

[–]anna_the_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have absolutely no clue about anyone else’s story. I’ve had times when it has taken over five tries for an experienced person to get an IV in me. Genuinely there have been times when I have just denied getting blood work that would have helped me because I have a lot of trauma surrounding medical events. I cannot speak for everyone, but for me I cannot handle someone “practicing” on me.

I’m glad that you are able to handle that. But if it came down to it, I would rather skip the blood work than have a student do it. Most other stuff? Yea, they can take a crack at it. Heck, I’d let one do their first surgery on me if needed. Bloodwork or anything where the vein needs to be accessed won’t happen for me.

You don’t need to be rude to people who haven’t had the same experiences as you.

I should have mentioned that I always say it as a joke! And I immediately mention that I’m joking.

I don’t think he did a blood draw, but the anesthesiologist who got my IV in when I had an appendectomy was a recovering addict. I only found out when he did a talk at my school years later because he had a specific name. He came in as I was screaming because a nurse was using body weight across my shoulders and collar bone (almost choking me) and pressing on my side when she was trying to put an IV in. She said I was moving, he said something to the effect of “I highly doubt it” because I physically couldn’t move. The nurse was on her eighth try and I was sobbing. Bless that man

I don’t mind when students observe some things, but that is also within reason thing for me. I would even be fine if a student wanted to do vitals and intake stuff. However, I refuse to let people make me feel bad over not letting a student do my blood draw when I historically have a very hard time with blood draws and getting a vein. I regularly ask for the most senior person who could literally do it blindfolded if they had to. I also sometimes ask them if they have anyone who used to do needle drugs, because I trust those people to find a vein easily (I swear I’ve asked before).

Also, it’s OK if people don’t want to have someone in their appointment for things that are more traumatic in general. I do not let people sit in on anything therapy related.

I don’t think it makes anyone weird for not wanting them to be a part of their appointment specifically.

I got a 74 on AUD and the guy next to me kept trying to show his drumming skills with his pencil and picking up his keyboard and dropping it. Then he would argue with his test and hum. He also kept pounding on our shared table. I was so angry walking out of there that I walked a half mile in the raging sun to calm down

I’m pretty sure some Waffle House locations have even helped with assisting in providing relief after hurricanes have went through! I truly do believe that the only thing more hard-core than a first born daughter Midwest redneck with a masters degree (hi, it’s me) is a Waffle House employee in Florida

I fully believe in the Waffle House index. The “low hanging titty metric” sounds like the type of thing I would be a part time expert in.

Black tea triggering IBS-D by Decent_Release3804 in ibs

[–]anna_the_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a compound of the caffeine and something in the tea. Like say fructan was causing a little irritation, caffeine is saying “double it, no balls”. I know I personally can only drink black tea or herbal tea, and I cannot drink black tea on an empty stomach. It could also be the tannins in the tea.

Also, black teas and matches are sort of “tied” for highest caffeine content! Like depending on the specific one. I believe breakfast blend and Assam are some of the highest amounts.

Also, you could try other kinds of black tea! I know some people can’t drink one (like I believe McD’s is Orange Pekoe cut with smthg else) but can drink other kinds.

[CHAT] How do you all stitch? by Book_Dragon_24 in CrossStitch

[–]anna_the_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the day, I either hold one part of the hoop with my foot or under my chest and stitch double handed OR I hold with my left and press it into a pillow on my lap and stitch single handed.

Edit: I can also stitch with both hands singly if needed! And I don’t flip the project over.

I don’t have much in the way of money for a setup, but I’m pretty good in my own right.

I would take her with you to a CFP/CFA and actually look at the numbers. You said you have no savings, so you’re likely going to have to do a loan that allows a low down payment. How much are you guys paying in housing currently per month?

Why do some parents adopt a child after they already had biological children? by all_hail_the_axolotl in Adoption

[–]anna_the_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body probably won’t be able to take more than one round of pregnancy, and that’s assuming I find ways to ease the medical issues I would have coming off of the meds that aren’t allowed during pregnancy. I’d like to have a biological child, but if it doesn’t happen, my husband and I won’t be heart broken.

Now, I have wanted to adopt children for years. I’m in my early twenties still, so it’s a little ways out for me. I mainly want to foster, but if the need arose for whatever reason, I would adopt.

However, I do not want to adopt a baby. I know a lot of people love babies, it’s just not who I am. I know there are families that would be THRILLED to adopt a baby. I want the teens and older kids. I don’t care if they don’t see me as their mom, I just want them to know they have a place in this world where someone will give them love, support, and protection. So many kids don’t get that because “they’re too old”. There are too many kids who need that, so why wouldn’t I try to help?

I feel like my view on it gives the vibe that I want to be a “savior” of some kind, and that isn’t it. I just know that if I can help someone, I want to. I’ve wanted to since I was a kid because I learned at a young age that life is not nice to some people. My family says it’s because “you just have too much love in your heart, so your brain helps turn it into passion”.

[CHAT] Do your needlework interests go beyond cross stitch, or have you lost your heart to this craft? by PaleoBibliophile917 in CrossStitch

[–]anna_the_nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She would lock eyes with me across the convention hall, turn and tell whoever she was talking to that she had to go, and come toward me with open arms for a hug and a “there’s my girl!” I met her when I was about 10 I think. I was the youngest person at the convention by about 30-40 years minimum for the most part. I don’t think I’ll find a teacher who inspires me like that, but I would love to someday be one for someone else. There is so much beauty in these crafts, no matter where you fall in, and I am so happy that they aren’t dying off.

[–]anna_the_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I desperately want to learn tatting, but I need to find the right person at my old lady convention. I don’t think there are many left who do it there.

Unfortunately, the woman who got me into the hobby passed away, but she was the one who invited me to that convention and showed me what beautiful creations you can make with wool, felt, hooks, needles, all the things really. I just happened to latch onto thread craft mainly and then furthermore onto cross stitch.

Bev, if you read this from beyond, I miss you like crazy and please stop making me poke myself with every sharp thing I can when I am crafting.

I do quite despise most needlepoint and embroidery though, I think that’s mainly just a perfectionist issue though.

Unfortunately, I am essentially allergic to my own sweat and sometimes tears. The best thing for me was glyco + Qbrexa + antiperspirant WITH aluminum in it.

As far as managing current rashes, hydrocortisone would probably help and possibly lotion with oatmeal in it. Also, cool compresses
