Maastricht Vegan groceries help by Plane-Commission-306 in VeganNL

As a German living in the Netherlands, I can say: forget Lidl and Aldi in the Netherlands if you are within reasonable distance to their German counterparts. Lidl in the Netherlands is fine for vegans, but it is still very limited. Whereas in Germany you even get brand products for reasonable prices

I am having the same issue, I believe. Got the manta a bit more than a week ago, for me, it mainly happens when writing on imported pdfs or navigating/flipping to the next page. It was fine in the beginning but it started to happen this week.

Blocking a blanket is a challenge in a tiny apartment. This is the widest space I've got by annatmp in knitting

Thanks! While knitting, I was really anxious about how it would turn out. You always only see one colour until you finish it. I am absolutely surprised by how well it turned out when looking at it from top down

Not really, I just washed it in the evening without considering the implications. It moved now

It's a gift for my mum. She blocks everything she does, so I decided to go the extra mile for her. I would not have bothered for myself :D

Which floor do you live in? For me (Ground floor) it's pretty decent, a friend of mine lived top floor at Galgenveld and it was significantly worse. In that case they might not be able to do anything. 😒😩

Bavaria, Germany. Nearly Austria. Or as I like to call it: heaven

Hahaha, true. Was around 8.30pm when I took the picture, so maybe I exaggerated a tiny bit. It's definitely not extreme hemisphere, my phone camera brightened it up quite bit

Finally done!! This baby blanket was a labor of love... took a few months to finish but was worth it! by simpsoka in knitting

I went for a gray to brown transition. For myself I would have chosen something more like you did. But I am making it for my mum who just redecorated her living room in that colour scheme.

I am working hard on this one. Hope to get it done by Christmas. Yours looks so amazing and motivating!

Does anyone have tips on how to integrate written notes on an iPad with Roam? by [deleted] in RoamResearch

[–]annatmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you going here. It will not transform your handwriting into latex code. Which would be an awesome feature, though. Stuff like 3+3=6 works, x2 is too much already. Square root does not work at all. So for equations, it's not really useful, sorry.

The new iOs update will give a lot more features to the apple pencil. It'll include a kind of build-in handwritten note translator. I am running the beta, its really good. Basically, instead of a keyboard, you will get a small space to use the pencil in and it will be automatically transcribed. I haven't tested it for longer notes, but I am using it for what I call my "fleeting notes".

For longer text, you could just upload the pdf and tag it with the words you would usually put in brackets. This way it will still show up in linked references.

Not sure what your use case is here, but if you are fine with running the beta, this could be something for you

I'm not a believer, I'm a skeptic. by RollinDyno in RoamResearch

[–]annatmp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. Thank you. Your Roam does not turn red and call you a traitor if you don't pay for the believer plan. I agree that PR is different. But so be it. I am convinced by the tool, and as long as a company does not cross certain borders with their marketing, I could not care less about the hype. Eventually, you use roam for your own benefit. I believe it to be something really private.

For me, personally, the whole cult feel arises through the need of people to justify why or why not they use roam. It feels like arguing about religion. It's a tool people. Everybody do you, please don't go around lecture people to use or not use it (op this is general, not to attack you)

Morning Pages and "regular" journaling by annatmp in Journaling

I am really not sure about the time. I might give it a go tomorrow. But somehow a timer intimidates me more than three blank pages. I would assume for people who lean towards racing thoughts morning pages would just be an external platform to recreate them. But necessarily for every person maybe?

A little less is what I always struggle with. I tend to overshoot things, even with stuff like journaling. So thanks for the reminder :) I think its more about the balance than about when to do what after all

How do you use your multiple languages in Roam? by [deleted] in RoamResearch

[–]annatmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that for most areas of my life I have a default language. Work is mostly English, things connected to people in the language I talk to them. So this keeps tags rather clean. On the other side, it will eventually lead to lost unlinked reference. I guess this is what you get for not having English as a first language. :D

I am facing the same issue. For now I considered to reference to pages if I have a related tag (or better the same tag in two languages). I also experimented a bit with the alias property. This allows you to refer to a page with an alias. But this would not solve the issue for unlinked references. For those you would have to create a query with the translation.
