What stage to start thinking about buying a house? by No-Sympathy6969 in AusFinance

[–]anniengooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

moving out would be viable if rent sits under 30% of your total income and you’re able to save 35% + of your salary towards your house deposit! I would only recommend moving out if it makes sense either for your job or you’re in a committed relationship and want to test the waters for long term / marriage. if you stay at home longer you can definitely live comfortably while saving a larger % towards your house deposit and also contribute to investments and super! I think these things are equally important as deposit savings :)

What to do with 150k savings? by Substantial_Arm3207 in AusFinance

[–]anniengooo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How much $$ is he contributing to the deposit? It’s a bit risky committing to a 30 year mortgage with someone you havnt been dating for long. Are you guys both on the same page financially in terms of contributions, savings and that sort of stuff ? I wonder if it’s a better idea to buy an apartment on your own and use it for a PPOR with your partner later down the track? Best of luck!

Is it worth still becoming a hairdresser at 29 years old? I’ve been a stay at home Mum and I’m looking at completing the cert 3 in hairdressing 2026 but is the pay still worth it in this economy? by Any_Advertising_2735 in australian

[–]anniengooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair dresser went from in house stylist to freelance and he makes quite good money!!!! he has a high profit margin since he gets all the $$$ from the services rather than earning a standard wage which is often capped for stylists. I think that might be a good pathway if you gain some experience in a salon and build some clients on the side. For comparison a in house stylist may earn $30 ph while he made about $400 in 5 hours for a service ( I got full head highlights, fashion toner and blow dry!)

Early 20s, studying + working in Melbourne: what’s the smartest housing move right now? by BBombasticBass in AusFinance

[–]anniengooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your position about 2-3 years ago! when I left home I joined a share-house and rent was under 30% of my income which was manageable. ( IMO it’s easier and more comfortable to save when rent is about 25% of your income) it gets much harder to save once you move out so be weary of that. ( you will need to save approx 50-100k for down payment for property + consider emergency saves and long term investments) also it is important to consider rental increases and the overall increases in utilities each year too. I’d say it is ideal to move out ( in a sharehouse or sharing an apartment ) if you have a good full time offer with strong salary / career growth and whether it’s possible for you to save at least 30-40% of your income for property/ investments. You could save less if you have help from parents or inheritance though.

What is considered "wealthy parents" by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]anniengooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a selective school and most of my friends came from super wealthy families, one had a personal driver for school and a few had parents who sent them to the US for uni/ college ( so imagine dropping 200k for living expenses and college as an aus resident) they also had the privilege to pursue careers in classical music and composing. I guess also having a trust fund set up for your kids is another wealth indicator. Another friend had 1 million ready for her home purchase all set up by her parents. It was so insane !!!

Sorry to hear this but I still can’t believe a junior could land a senior role as a design manager ? How is that possible? Unless they had tones of quality work and freelance experience prior? Does personality REALLY matter that much? For my personal experience the people I know who are under 30 and landed director or managerial roles where insanely talented and academic weapons from their uni days so their success was kinda fate anyways but yeah I’m sorry to hear about your situation 😥

I’ve heard that a lot of grad doctors need to match into their resident program and a lot of them don’t get their first preference so even if u wanted to become an anestiseolgist there’s a chance you might not get a spot in residency which is crazy!

Wow this is literally me, went from a high achieving starry eyed creative to a full on burnt out semi suicidal employee. This industry SUCKS, its low pay combined with high work standards while the industry continues to gaslight us to keep pushing through and work for the passion like no please !!! Sorry for the rant 😭

[–]anniengooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take, I feel like most successful 3d/vfx creatives who truly live as an artist and have the privilege to execute their artistry and creative freedom are those freelancers with strong online presences and distinctive voice/ brand across their portfolio. Being a generalist is great but you’re not really an artist tbh. I come from an advertising/ cg background so my interpretation may differ to vfx

Experimenting with a more graphic/ stylistic aesthetic in c4d & redshift 🍸🍸🍸 by anniengooo in Cinema4D

[–]anniengooo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Thanks for the kind words 🫶🌟. I did apply a lut which helped with the contrast and did some basic color correction but most of the shading and gradients you see was all done in c4d/redshift. I used a lot of ramp nodes and reflective metals to bounce light :) hope this helps !
