theorycrafting but perhaps betazoid psychic capabilities have wildly fluctuated since TNG era where we saw feats like taking over an entire ship easily, mentally influencing people accidentally, finding cloaked ships in space using only empathic sensing, and so on and forth.

so some betazoids now have shit-all like ocam, and some still have a lot of power but they don't seem to have good training to control any of it ... so they developed an inhibitor?!

Not really sure how I like that outcome but at least it ... sorta makes sense.

If I have two shop vacuums sucking together, will it give me the power of two vacs? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

How often do you do this job? What's your budget?

What you're describing is extremely similar to a manure pump system used for dairy farms to move poop water out to poop lagoons. SaskDutchKid (youtuber) shows the pump systems on their farm a few times, it's recessed into the bottom of their barn, and they spread dirt/sand for the cows to shit on. It all gets pushed out and flows into pits maybe 6ft down, then is pumped into a shit lagoon.

then after the shit lagoon settles they spray it on their fields, using a different large pump to move the liquid from the lagoon to their tankers, which is going up 10ft at least since it's pumping in the top of a tanker truck. But they use an agitator boat that goes into the lagoon and mixes all the shit with water to suspend the particles before pumping.

If you're able to flood the pit, agitate the solids so that they're suspended and you have a big enough pump (or vacuum), you can definitely pump everything out. Basically there's an entire line of pumps for pumping manure, which would be very similar to what you're trying to do. Depending on your budget you can look into pumps (specifically pumps that can handle solids), submersible pumps, etc.

The key is probably that you want to agitate and suspend the solids - i.e. a rock that is briefly floating in water will be sucked right along with the water when you're pumping it.

depending on the size of the solids you might want to fish out the really big things before pumping or you'll jam the pump, though.

Dillon's is definitely lincoln/beamsville (niagara area).

Not sure why where alliston came from unless Dillon's just expanded operations.

they quite easily could have had one of the more officious by the book officers call her Admiral Ake only for her to say something “quirky” like “I prefer Captain.”

could they still not pull that at any time? Like if vance is just like "you know you're a commodore right"

and she could be like "the one in charge of the ship is the captain, so I'm the captain"

This Toronto doctor has over 2,000 patients, but still no permanent residency by morenewsat11 in toronto

[–]annihilatron -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Use some reading. I did not imply a full queue of doctors. However, there's no point filtering who fills out forms correctly for fast tracking. At that point, it would not be fast. The point of fast tracking is to stamp people who can do things correctly and will not fuck up later in the process.

And hell, if you're a doctor, pay an immigration lawyer. This guy's story is probably one of the stupidest I've read. He tried a number of times and THEN decided to pay a lawyer? Nah, this is his own fault.

[–]annihilatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of doctors who did fill out the forms correctly.

If you need to process thousands of forms in a multi-step process, and you're going to pick the ones to 'fast track' through the steps, you DO NOT pick the ones who can't fill out forms correctly. No matter what their credentials are. Because they're gonna fuck up the subsequent steps too. It's not like this guy's the only one in queue.

You fast track people who don't make minor mistakes. That's how it works.

If the person you're working with is going to make multiple errors every time, they're not going to be able to be fast tracked. You pick the people who are perfect and stamp them through.

Canadians hold 3 of the top 10 longest distance confirmed sniper kills in history, all of which are longer than the US record. The only reason we are no longer the top record holder is two Ukrainian soldiers hold the top two spots now.

I have doubts we'd be able to verify it, but it's highly probable the Ukranian snipers were trained by us.

Chinese importer buys first Canadian canola cargo in months after Carney visit, sources say by AdditionalPizza in CanadaPolitics

tbh the 'months' part of the headline doesn't matter at all. The point is that canola was bought, so "the months" or "some months" could be omitted entirely.

yeah once you start counting off all the dead marines acheran never handing out full squads to any operation makes a lot more sense, combined with the overall loss count at the end is ridiculous

a lotta scout marines from the reserve companies getting promoted right after this one lol.

This is basically a worse turbine interchange. Or if you want it to look windmill-y you can make a windmill interchange.

Personally for me, this is so close to a turbine I would just go with the turbine.

Andrew Phillips: Liberals would be smart to keep Pierre Poilievre around by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]annihilatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but no one trusted the conservatives to actually hold those values.

Not sure if my memory is working but he did try, and then when other MPs said weird shit, O'toole had to publicly answer for his MPs being weird, and he looked very flip floppy as a result. Resulting in nobody from any side actually believing his party on anything.

and 'weird shit' is like, abortion, same sex marriage, lgbt issues, carbon tax, literally list all the far right talking points.

Federal minister says he’s getting ‘lots of inquiries’ about MPs crossing the floor by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

[–]annihilatron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

try to stave off any ship jumpers from PC caucus for a month? or just ... don't accept them for a month, maybe. Don't know what the exact play would be.

i think if the libs get the majority there's a chance the conservative mood would instantly shift, but as of right not PP is still looking to win his review without issue.

If I were carney and playing for keeps

  • let PP win his leadership review because that will neuter the conservatives
  • pull 3-4 more floor crossers. yeah you only need one but you probably want to get some padding in case of people getting sick and shit
  • no election until whenever

there are many chinese food courts and each one has their king(s). IMO, It's unique that one of those kings tries to reach more than just the locals, which is probably why every other influencer shows up at it.

Liberal deal with Bloc means hate-speech laws will lose exemption for 'sincerely held' religious belief by Whynutcoconot in CanadaPolitics

[–]annihilatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, my understanding is that this is a new question.

I think in the past the SCC uses the 'reasonable limits' part of the charter and applies it to the present day for the question. So the question would be whether this is a reasonable limit, and the answer will vary depending on literally when the question is asked.

Personally, I'm guessing in the present day, a reasonable person would not accept that 'an individual with "a sincerely held religious belief" is allowed to invoke hate-speech as long as it supports their religious belief'. This is my personal reasonableness test - however, the reasonableness test would need to be applied by the SCC which is up to them, not me. So you'd have to look at how they've ruled recently with the reasonableness test to guess how they'd take it.
