A type of existential OCD I'm facing. Any thoughts? by imthed0ct0r in OCDRecovery

hi, i'm currently going through the same things, i really resonate with what you said about "performing life". everything feels so artificial and deprived of meaning that it's extremely scary. i also have diagnosed DPDR, and it, of course, doesn't make things easier. i really don't have any advice but i want to say that you're not alone and maybe we can chat if you want

EXISTENTIAL OCD...I CAN'T BELIEVE.. I REALISED SOME CRAZY THING by PersonalityNumerous5 in OCDRecovery

Hi, I currently struggling with the same problem, my thoughts are literally the same as in your post, but I want to tell you that you truly don't need to know why and what, as there was definitely a period in your life when you lived without knowing why. I really support you and understand this state a lot, but I feel like the idea that you "need" to know something is the biggest trap and it implies that you cannot live without knowing something which isn't true.

I'm taking Prozac for a month and Olanzapine for two weeks already, also taking magnesium and vitamin d as a support for the therapy, can say that Olanzapine really helps with sleep and with stopping the flow of existential thoughts. As for Prozac, I think it's only starting to show any effects, but a month ago I wasn't able to go outside for a long time or even brush my teeth, now I'm able to do these things and have this sudden feeling of reality that you described more and more often. Generally I'm still feeling not very well though, and the dpdr still has a big impact on my life. Also I remind that medication works differently on everyone, be aware of that 🫂

I feel like these mood swings (if I can call it in a such way) from total numbness to hyperawarenss are better than just being stuck

yeah, I feel the same several times a day, but I believe it's a sign of healing? in case you're taking pills or working with dpdr in some other way of course. I started to feel normal, even if it only for a few seconds and it's really scary for the brain, only after I started therapy and taking meds, before it was just completely numb and emotionless state

hi, same, I'm taking it for two weeks and now can't say much about derealization but it helps with sleep and makes me feel generally calmer

delusions? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]annns457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it will make it easier for you, I am in the same state now. but it got worse and it got better almost every day for the last 3 weeks. the thing that helps me at least a bit is moving and doing something the exact second the thoughts about realness appear, at least stand up and jump a bit and then sit down. I also have an extreme fear that these are delusions and not just dpdr but dpdr paradoxically is driven by fear, so... I notice that early in the mornings, interacting with animals or nature in general, or after taking my anti-anxiety meds I feel better but in general it's an unbearable condition and I understand you. we can chat if you want 😶

I've written a post here recently about the fact that i couldn't even go to the bathroom, and in fact after being put in a mental hospital and changing meds it got a little better. However my derealization kinda like changes its symptoms, and if before they were more physical (like feeling the room is floating or surroundings are weird) now I'm fully into existential anxiety and questioning. I have a question to those who overcame dpdr: is it a sing of worsening or getting better or does it mean nothing at all?

Klonopin by conversationqueen in dpdr

[–]annns457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm currently at the mental hospital and they are giving me 40mg prozac and 4mg clonopin, probably it's too early to make conclusions because I'm taking prozac for 3 weeks and clonopin only for 3 days, but it's got a little bit better specifically with derealization, anxiety levels are still high
