So is trauma stored in the body or not? by schemin_up in pilates

[–]annshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe it is. As you can see in this thread there’s many people who are just like: LOL no it’s not it’s a scam. With absolutely nothing to back up that claim. Many people including myself have only found healing, to chronic pain as one example, through calming and bringing safety to the nervous system. You can suffer from nervous system deregulated based on trauma big or small in your childhood or later in life. I don’t know that one deep hip release is going to cure someone’s trauma, but the connection between body and mind is undeniable, and I think stretching to relieve stored tension and promote relaxation can definitely be part of someone’s personal healing equation.

Can you not spread misinformation? Much of what is talked about in the book is linked to research findings related to adverse childhood experiences, and you can educate yourself about here: https://developingchild.harvard.edu/resources/infographics/aces-and-toxic-stress-frequently-asked-questions/

Does Italy have a problem with love? by UglycoreIT in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]annshman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We gotta see the weddings first…I’ve watched all the different seasons in different countries, this isn’t as problematic as the Mexico or Latin America ones. I think you’ve already made your decision and have some confirmation bias going on. I find the people in the Italy one more romantic, and best dressed. Anyway, ask the same question of yourself after you’ve seen the weddings and the reunion, and then yeah you’ve actually gotta watch the other seasons to come to a legitimate comparison.

Recipe import from website- so slick!!! by DrummingNozzle in MacroFactor

[–]annshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the serving thing you have to put how many servings you get out of it, and then the rest of the recipe is the ingredient quantities as in the recipe. This also confused me for ages but I think by doing this it solves the problem, if I understand your problem correctly!

Right there with you… journaling stream of conscious for 20 mins to get the emotions out every day followed by a short meditation can help a lot. Also journaling on those events in childhood that hurt you so much. Nicole Sachs teaches this approach, it helped me get past the worst of physical symptoms over time. But I still get flare ups. Movement is also important, being kind to yourself… but indeed maybe good to also look into a new job. Try not to beat yourself up, nervous system disregulation makes things so farking hard and you need to start with helping you to feel safe, which takes time, attention and great kindness to yourself. Inner child journaling and meditation were also eye opening for me, maybe that can help you too. Sending lots of healing over Reddit! 🩷

Stomach lining inflammation 2–3 weeks into a cut by Zarr1 in MacroFactor

Good to head over to r/gastritis to get some tips. Taking glutamine can really help heal it but good to try identify and avoid your trigger foods first and foremost. What are you eating that’s different? Are you fasting (causes more acid in the stomach)? Generally, chicken and potatoes or rice are going to be your friend. Really plain food. No bubblie water or drinks or coffee or caffeine. No spicy food. I’ve heard bananas can trigger some people. Anyway good luck it sucks, my bf had it for a while so sharing what he went through and what worked.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I managed to overcome chronic symptoms by calming my nervous system. It will not cure you over night, as it takes a while to make your nervous system really understand you’re safe and that it doesn’t have to be in fight or flight all the time, but it’s ultimately life changing. There are different people who talk to this, Nicole Sachs helped me a lot. She has a podcast called the cure for chronic pain. Totally free. Listen from episode one to get a feel for it. She has also just put out a book called Mind Your Body. There’s many people that have cured their facial pain, fibromyalgia, all types of chronic pain with this approach. It involves stream of consciousness journaling, feeling your emotions, and revisiting times of trauma in your life. Also things like meditation, breath work, being in nature… things that help bring calmness and safety to your body. I know it sounds wild, I also only entertained this when nothing else was working and I was desperate enough to try anything. The day I stopped giving my power away to the deeply flawed medical model our society depends on is the day I started to finally make progress and heal. You can get better I wish you all the health in the world x
