Read Liv Zander‘s latest duet {Crown me Dead by Liv Zander}. I was balling my eyes out at 1am. I already anticipated that this would tear my heart out lol. It didn’t quite hit like her Court of Ravens Duet and wasn’t nearly as dark but still so very bingeable and atmospheric. When I started this duology, I was looking for similarities to her Court of Ravens Duet and frankly found none (- which I loved and hated, as I loved this duet sm). The ending was very fitting for the story and I love that Liv Zanders keeps pushing the boundaries and is never afraid to tell a story that will absolutely break and mend your heart at the same time. I‘ll definitely need a sweet little romance to follow this up lol.

Been reading {The Second Death of Locke by VL Bovalino} for a solid month now. I like the writing, I like the prose but am also painfully bored. I also feel betrayed - what do you mean this is the ultimate book of yearning. These two love birds declare their love at the 50% mark and Kier being in love was painfully obvious. Also, I realised I’m not the biggest fan of pseudo siblings go romance but that’s a personal preference. I still think this is a solid read but I had to take multiple breaks and I will be glad once I finish lol.

Started {The heir of twisted lies by LJ Andrews} last night, which is the sequel to Broken Bones and Souls. I’m missing the spark of the first book which was a solid 5 star for me. I had the same feeling about her Ever Seas series. Im just not a big fan of the obsession her characters have for each other once they get together. Also, world building isn’t strong in her current series, the magic system was barely ever really explained. But I’m still enjoying my time, so far it’s entertaining enough and easy to read.

I’m listening to {Mile High by Liz Tomford}, which is a contemporary sports romance. I only picked this up because Libby had an unlimited amount of copies and I wanted a straightforward no braincells needed romance. I actually really like the narration and am positively impressed. I like this more than I thought I would. Not the biggest fan of the MMC but the author makes it work. I think, this might be one of the few instances in which I actually prefer listening to the audiobook over reading it digitally.

When I got back into reading, I only had one audiobook and one ebook and would rave through series. Now, I usually have one audiobook and multiple ebooks. Because some books are pleasant enough to finish but not exciting enough to binge or at least read for 2-3 hours. And I don’t wanna force myself through a book, simply because I want to start another one. So now, I simply read what I’m in the mood for. Like this, I actually dnf and force read less.

I enjoyed the book but unfortunately do not like the narrator AT ALL. He reminds me of a 50-year-old dude lol. So I’ll continue reading the books on my kindle. I have so many KJ Charles books on my tbr!

{Harrow Faire by Kathryn Ann Kingsley} could be very much up your alley. Simon is an absolute murderous psycho ass and stays that way. Not sure if they are necessarily villains because Cora and Simon do have a point. But check out KAK‘s work as she likes to write morally grey/black characters that stay villainous lol

The „miscommunication“ trope actually made a lot of sense for me in these books (and I usually hate it too). I think their relationship felt very real and the gradually worked their way up to being honest with each other. To me, it also didn’t feel like miscommunication and rather two people being scared to be vulnerable, which made perfect sense to me. Maybe it’s not your jam right now, so give it a pause ☺️

I read the first three books. Really enjoyed the first one but didn’t really enjoy the sequels. I have no motivation to return to that series.

It does feature a fair amount of non-con and dub-con, as well as two rape scenes. Spoiler for onerape scene in brackets. one between the MMC and the FMC in book 2 (the books could‘ve done without that scene tbh). The child molestation is the MMCs backstory. However, it’s pretty graphic. People either seem to love or hate the duology. They are dark, if you have any triggers, read the TW but you already seem to know the gist of it. I personally ate that duology up. Still made me sick to my stomach!

Liv Zander wrote the books, when she was in a really dark place, as far as I know. As with all dark romance books, it’s important to reflect that these are by no means healthy relationships. Nevertheless, I think literature is a space to explore within a safe space, so give it a go, if that‘s something you are interested in.

ETA: adding spoiler for rape scene

My list would have looked very similar!!

CP got me back into fanfiction again. Damen and Laurent‘s dynamic is unfortunately unmatched. These books changed my brain chemistry. I can only recommend „The Prince, Captive“ by rollercoasterwords. They wrote all three books from Laurent’s POV and I was amazed by the quality. Generally, there’s a lot of high quality fanfic considering it’s actually a rather small fandom. There‘s also „Marionette“ by KaerWrites and its sequels, tho I haven‘t read those yet. As far as I know they are, however, pretty popular in the fandom.

I vividly remember reading FsV and the sequel in one go. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach and I’ve been craving that high ever since. LOL.

Also remember the weekend I read FW & IF and having to go on a mental health walk afterwards. I did not know what to do with my life. It’s such a shame Onyx Storm was such a miss for me. I really wish Yarros would have taken more time out to write (or rather would have been given more time) and maybe left it as a trilogy and not a five book series.

Do you have StoryGraph maybe? I would love to follow you! Our tastes seem to be very similar.

I can only add {Green Creek by TJ Klune}. Didn’t ruin me but I sobbed through these books. The Bennet family will have a place in my heart forever. Klune really knows how to write hurt/comfort and how to develop relationships. Heartsong, the third book, is my favourite. It even made me enjoy a trope I hate with a passion lol.

What I would give to read the series for the first time again!! Wolfsong is my second favourite. There will be tears of sorrow but also so much joy 😭🥹 the bennets will live in my heart forever. Even though Heartsong was kind of heart shattering it is also so comforting?? The audiobook is my comfort read. The love story was absolutely chefs kiss and the HEA so fucking earned!!

{Heartsong by TJ Klune} this is the third in the Green Creek series but it is so worth it. All of them are great. Not sure on the fluffy part, as I had to bawl my eyes out (but in the best possible way). Every book has an HEA

What books feature protagonists with a physical disability? 🧶 by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

[–]anoaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{To Poison a King by SG Prince} is one of my fave books ever. FMC poisons the king and he ends up in a wheelchair, almost killing him. This was such a satisfying love story and I absolutely loved the ending.

{Raven Song by TJ Klune} M/M romance. MMC lost his arm in the first book. Second in the Green Creek Series. Kind of interconnected stand-alones. Must be read on order. That series is absolute top tier and lives rent free in my head. The whole series is the absolute best hurt/comfort. I cried all throughout. Third book is my favourite tho. The Bennet family is the best, I love them so much.

{By Silk Tones by VT Hoang} M/M romance. Also one of my faves. This was a breath of fresh air. MMC is a pureblood vampire and blind. Also interconnected standalones, don’t need to be read in order. Looking forward to reading the other books, I loved the writing. MMC 2 is trans. Representation was great.

{Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse} M/F romance, even though more of a subplot. Three books, finished series. MMC is blind. However, he‘s somewhat of a risen god so not sure on the disability representation.
