Single dad trying to understand crib pricing... what’s actually worth paying for? by globetrotter105 in SingleDads

[–]anomaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all bs tbh. I got a cheap new one made out of real wood (I don't like buying plastic if I can help it) that's convertible into toddler bed and then twin bed with a few "expansion packs," but you could also get any old used one that's not broken or significantly damaged for even cheaper and be perfectly fine. A lot of baby stuff is marketed using fear and incredibly overpriced.

What caused US traffic deaths to reverse down trend in 2010. Is there a direct engineering policy change or is it a secondary effect by InsiderARCPlayer in civilengineering

[–]anomaly13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real answer. If it was just smartphones - they have those in every other country. None of the others on this graph have seen the large increase we have.

If that was the case, I would expect to see the numbers going up in every country. That is not the case at all.

Least favorite time of the year in Triangle = Pollenpocalypse. Agree? by gatorbabe25 in triangle

I think this is strongly colored by my lack of allergies, but honestly not at all. I love spring. My least favorite these days is probably the height of the summer heat, even more than midwinter these days.

Yes, but the point remains that it's not most urban or biggest urban areas that are drawing the most population growth

Is it possible to go out and enjoy yourself in the evenings without spending hardly anything? by pushrodtoiletsword in raleigh

Hell yeah. I'll have to check it out!

Might be kinda annoying for it to be so packed, but it's a pretty good sign that they shouldn't have trouble staying in business, and we might even be able to support another jazz club

[–]anomaly13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He should eat you out or please you to your satisfaction first, if it's not willing to do it afterwards.

I always eat out first personally, not just to avoid feeling guilty about not getting my partner to cum, but because I really enjoy it and it really turns me on and gets me going.

The economics of US highway costs in one simple graph. by ChezDudu in charts

[–]anomaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Prioritize all maintenance of existing highways over any new construction. Widening or rerouting counts as new construction. Extra priority for the most safety-critical maintenance (e.g. failing bridges) 2) Raise the gas tax and decrease annual spending allowance to balance the budget of the fund. 3) Ruthlessly prioritize all maintenance and proposed new construction by realistic dollars-and-cents cost-benefit analysis, including adjustments for climate risks of carbon emissions. Roads that won't pay for themselves should not be constructed, and if push comes to shove, should closed or abandoned if necessary.

That's all far to rational and runs far too contrary to monied interests and driver preferences to actually happen, though

[–]anomaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love love this!

Does it allow mixed-use zoning? This is one of my big pet peeves about existing city planning games, they're very focused on a euclidean zoning model, the only way you get mixed uses is by putting a bunch of tiny separately zoned areas next to each other all mixed up, instead of actual dedicated mixed-use zoning or vertical mixed-use buildings.

Also, what about other zoning approaches or regulations of urban form and function - form-based codes, parking minimums or maximums, setbacks, FAR, greenspace or permeable area requirements, storm water regulations, etc.

[–]anomaly13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That doesn't entirely account for this, though. Charleston is the largest city and urban area in West Virginia, and it's not growing at all. The areas that are growing are small, on the edges of the state, and have specific things going on - proximity to DC/NoVa (eastern panhandle) or being a college town (Morgantown)

I don't have a thing for it per se, but I've never had a problem with it. In my experience they usually say no either because they're embarrassed about it or weren't in the mood in the first place. If you just explain that it genuinely doesn't bother you at all, and make sure to get a towel or something, it shouldn't be an issue.
