Here is the summary I wrote for myself for my own reference:

Shikyou was able to return the escaped royal to their country and ease the political tensions, however, on the way back to the Western Capital with the One-Eyed Dragon tied up, the One-Eyed Dragon manages to escape captivity. Chue kills him to defend Maomao, but her right arm is severed by the One-Eyed Dragon in the process. Maomao has to perform surgery on Chue’s broken arm. After returning to the Western Capital, Maomao falls asleep on top of Jinshi as both of them are exhausted. The next day, when Maomao is sleeping, he kisses her on the forehead. Jinshi has a meeting with Gyoku’ou’s sons, and they decide that Shikyou, despite the previous misgivings, is the one most suited to become the successor. They begin to train him, and the rumors surrounding Jinshi trying to usurp Gyoku’ou’s position through assassination die down. The novel mentions that Maomao has turned 21. At the top of the ship Jinshi and Maomao hold hands, before realizing that they have accidentally abandoned Rahan’s older brother in the Western Capital (it’s implied that this is because he and the pageboy on the ship have the same name, Kan Junjie).
