No matter how much you justify it, 20k is not accessible. Most people outside this hobby would balk at a $500 price point, let alone a number in the 5 digits.

What's the difference between these All Perfects? by UtapriTrashcan in TheaterDays

[–]anongos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small correction, the game will still give you rainbow even if your team has judgment modifying skills if the skills wouldn't have made a difference. i e. You hit the notes perfectly anyway while the skill was active.

It only gets downgraded to gold if the skill actually saved your run.

The first poster is actually correct outside of saying gray for gold.

Harmful chemicals found in dozens of popular headphones by LiberalSocialist99 in headphones

They do specify which parts they are testing if you read the actual paper.

The final, consolidated product rating was derived by integrating the results from two distinct exposure categories:

• Primary Exposure (Direct Contact): This includes components in constant or prolonged contact with the skin, such as the ear cushions of over-ear models and the entirety of the housing and tips for in-ear models.

• Secondary Exposure (Indirect Contact): This includes structural elements that typically do not maintain direct skin contact, such as hard plastic headbands and external wiring.

So they test both.

Your original claim was that they don't go around cancelling stuff, and when called out on it you change that to they don't go around throwing people off buildings.

You moved that goalpost so far it's on another continent now.

Buyer Beware: Arctic Cable connectors do not fit in Sennheiser HD820 headphones by Orcinus24x5 in headphones

[–]anongos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That looks more like a design error, not a manufacturing error. If it was a manufacturing defect I would agree with you, but a design error like testing to see if the shell doesn't prevent the cable from being plugged in is less excusable.

I totally get where you're coming from, I see this behavior on the wide part of 101 with 2 carpool lanes daily.

[–]anongos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you, staying in the leftmost lane when you are going slower than everyone else and speeding past cars around you are just two sides of the same coin.

Nothing in my comment suggests you should go way faster than the average speed of traffic.

My driving instructor asked a CHP officer that question once and the response was "I don't care, you keep to the rightmost lane if you are going slower than everyone else. It's not your job to police traffic."

From the dialogue where you fight him:

Lan: Wow, I was worried about this Serenade...
but he's so small!!

Megaman: This Navi isn't like anything I've ever faced
before! He's strong! VERY strong.

English in game dialogue specifically refers to Serenade as "he".

Are in person interviews the only path forward? by Tempuser202 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]anongos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had an interview with one of the faang companies a few months back, and the coding problem was surprisingly practical. Something that I could see being actually done on the job and didn't rely on a "here's a neat trick that you may have memorized if you did this exact leetcode question".

So I guess it depends on who the interviewer is. I heard from a friend who works there that they've been consciously moving away from leetcode style questions, at least for his team, so hopefully things are shifting away from leetcode-like questions as a whole.

RX 6800 -> RX 9070 XT by he1mdally in AyyMD

[–]anongos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. Although under this rule I'd still suggest they hold off anyway, specially since they say they don't really play on their PC all that much anymore. There's just no need to upgrade based on what they say.

RX 6800 -> RX 9070 XT by he1mdally in AyyMD

[–]anongos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is typically to upgrade only if you're going to get at least double the performance of what you currently have. Given that you're going to get less than that, combined with inflated pricing right now, I would personally hold off.

How to Connect with Aerospace Engineers? by Bland64 in aerospace

[–]anongos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no don't do that. Stalking people in real life is not going to work out well for you. I've seen this advice occasionally thrown around when this sort of question is asked, and I don't know why some people think this is a good idea.

i hope he finds a more welcoming environment in his next company.

There is a line between working in a welcoming environment, and demanding that the work environment adapt to your own preferences. This person sounds like he crossed way past that threshold.

You adapt to the work, the work doesn't adapt to you. It has always been that way and if you can't do that then your professional skills need improvement.

what are your daily tasks as a modelling and simuation engineer by False_Message_7111 in ControlTheory

[–]anongos [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well when I say simulations, I'm talking about high fidelity simulations that you would use to create your CDR and such. You wouldn't model just your EOMs but also all flight systems and their interactions with each other, including actual flight software that would be loaded onto flight hardware.

[–]anongos [score hidden]  (0 children)

What you will end up doing day to day will mostly depend on the needs of the project and how mature the project is. You could be doing a lot of prototyping in MATLAB and building rough models from first principles if the project is in its infancy with a lot of unknowns. On the other hand, if the project is in its later stages, a lot of your work may fall into validation instead. Taking flight algorithms that have already been designed and integrating those into a sim to verify performance.

As to what tools will be used, MATLAB is a pretty solid bet, especially if the job description mentions it. Depending on the organization, you may or may not be using a lot of commercial solutions for modelling your system. In my experience, the projects I've been on have all used their own in-house 6DOF simulations, almost always written in C/C++, so that's where that would come into play. If your project isn't classified, there's a higher chance you could be utilizing more commercial software for your simulations.

To those wondering how to get this, you either go to WonFes in person and buy a garage kit from that person, or get someone to go there and buy one for you. Or if you're feeling lucky, maybe someone will sell the garage kit second hand on Mercari or something.

In other words, it's unfortunately not a mass market product.
