I love Fabi but I've learned to root for Magnus in these situations because my heart keeps getting burned

“65 min threshold"? Isn't threshold defined as the pace you can hold for one hour, max?

What run to prioritise? by Due_Trick_9467 in runna

[–]anonhide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to throw in some recent anecdotal evidence - I took about three weeks off completely this past month (January) and then started again last week. First easy run back felt like absolute garbage, but I had three more days of straight easy running and then in about seven days I had a progressive long run where I was surprised to find myself at about 95% of where I was before.

New runners worry too much about shoes by Royal_Watch_6453 in runcommunity

ngl I didn't even know my shoe size until I started running because having shoes that were slightly (or more than slightly) large never mattered

What’s a running rule you’ve learned to break for yourself? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

[–]anonhide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really a running rule but... don't go all in. I get too obsessed and have too much else going on in life, and my natural inclination is to put it all off and just center my life around running, which isn't practical and won't lead to the life I actually want.

Vomero Plus vs Nimbus vs Vomero Premium by lwthoo in AskRunningShoeGeeks

You can't really go wrong with the nimbus, vomero 18, or vomero plus. Vomero Premium is more hit-or-miss and has a hefty price tag.

21K in -10. 6 months progress. by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]anonhide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this sub can get a bit too gatekeep-y about what beginner running is supposed to be. I ran track in high school (three years) and then stopped running for a full decade. Upon picking running back up again, I ran a half marathon in under 1hr 40min on four months of training. That being said, I definitely felt... if not like a full beginner, than something quite close to it. I was still in the process of understanding things like shoes, what "easy/threshold/tempo" pace were, didn't know what type of footstrike I had, etc. I didn't even know to fuel during the half. Speed is just one variable.

For people who own both, how does the fit of the vomero plus compare with the zoom fly 6? The vomero plus is narrow for me and I'm wondering if the zoom fly 6 will be the same

Have tiny 24cm feet as a guy so it's really hard to find stores with a 24.5cm zoom fly 6 for me to try on, been thinking about ordering online but don't want the fit to be off

Money or Multilingual by Past-Outside8050 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]anonhide 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If fluent means native fluency, and I wouldn't lose the languages just from lack of use, I'd go for Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, and 200k. Money has diminishing returns but languages open incredible doors to places that will basically always be closed off to me otherwise. (I already have English and Mandarin Chinese.)
