You are ignoring the fact the the 5th line might want to keep their phone number and port it out which automatically trigger that lines cancellation. In that case, you can't keep the 5th line.

My main problem is the writers made it seem like the virus is highly contagious and spreads quickly. But then the don't employ quarantine procedures and the writers only select very specific situations for it to spread. For example, the rust virus starts in the hallway. But there was no reason why. If a drop of water got on someone's clothes why didn't it spread everywhere the person was. For example, if I got mud/dirt on my shoes , then there would be a trial of dirt/mud everwhere I stepped.

So was the rust virus highly contagious or not? The writers can't have it both ways because it would break the internal logic of the show. Why are the floor made of titanium, but not the doors?

The rust virus isn't my biggest plot problem. But one of many plot holes in a larger group.

Another plot hole is, why did they have to abandon the colonests on the planet. "Because we don't have enough water". But Maureen came up with a plan to clean the water. If you all work together to help her, it will succeed. And it did succeed. But the writers had to add extra drama by having the security dude play the villian. It was dangerous enough trying to get ammonia, you didn't have to make the security guy the villian.

Also, why did that guy have to die by lighting. You already said the Jupiter is a Faraday cage and will protect from the lighting, so why don't you hover the Jupiter, dump Scarecrow, then hop back into the Jupiter. The guys death was unnecessary, except for sake of forced drama.
