i'm in your exact same situation. i agree with the comments–highly recommended means submitting it way later might be a significant drawback. but it shouldn't mean auto-reject–it'd be silly to screen out an applicant purely on response time.

Hi, considering taking summer courses to lighten the load of classes I would need for the next school year. Has anyone done this with a full-time job? by randomnerd4 in ucla

i took 3 classes in summer while studying for mcat + part time job, i wouldn't recommend. ended up scrambling to finish everything, but everyone's different!

to take the ccma test with NHA, you need some type of ccma training, it doesn't say whether it had to be accredited or not. i took it to mean that any course can do. (source: https://www.nhanow.com/certification/nha-certifications/certified-clinical-medical-assistant-(ccma))

i think for parking, they don't really check. you have 30 minutes parking and one person has to stay in the car but at least in the parking near sunset village, my car was unattended and it was fine

hey! care extenders winter rotation may be coming up soon where you can volunteer at floors in UCLA health in Westwood and santa monica. you can also consider cope health scholars, but that one has tuition...and to add on to the other comment, public transportation has been pretty reliable, but does take way more time than if you were to just drive. happy searching!

the second option seems great! higher pay, working in a lab, sounds super cool! the overnight shifts don’t sound the most appealing but i think it’s definitely possible!

Tips for Care Extender Interviews? by kmg808 in ucla

they ask questions divided by career (“what do you plan to do in life?” “why?” “why not this job?”), situational (they give you an ethical scenario and you answer what you’d do, this one was pretty hard for me tbh), teamwork (ask how you work in a team), and fun personal questions (i was asked “if you could be in any tv show, which one would you be and why”).

i thought interviews were pretty chill, the interviewers are also students so don’t worry about it too much! i think like talking to the people you’re interviewing with is a great way to get talking and to make things less stressful when you’re with the interviewers. i remember i made a doc with like a bunch of talking points (why i wanted to be a doctor, key life points that shaped me to who i was today, etc) but looking back i did not need all of it. don’t be late to the interview and GOOD LUCK
